  1. Is the original certified oat gauge required?
  2. Clean it up and you can get 159-160 KTAS LOP.
  3. Insurance companies can also pay out 100% of premiums in a year and still make a profit. They invest huge amounts of reserves.
  4. I had specialized aero repair my truss but it’s expensive. Around 1200$. But F 4 months.
  5. The Lycoming oil pressure value is read right off the oil pump. The Continental oil pressure reading is taken off the furthest end of the cam gallery. They’re probably closer than you think.
  6. For my plane that’s also true. Here’s the problem, if I crash the plane on the first flight after maintenance I don’t know who to blame….the pilot or the mechanic
  7. Perhaps some of the insurance expert here can check on, but anytime they pay money it counts as a claim. We had a hail claim on our airplane (very first trip) and although they said they did not raise our rates the price the next year was higher, but curiously, all the other companies refused to quote us. Which is pretty interesting and they said after three years that would go away.
  8. Why should your insurance pay for the hanger falling on your airplane? If they are hangers built to standards, it should not have happened. So I guess it puts you in a precarious situation given your age and your insurance carrier, but really, the airport should be covering this.
  9. There was plenty of desert too. But that road was tragic
  10. We can put a tube in your tire and roll on. I have to go to Montogomery NY this week for a prebuy. Maybe we can make this fit. Byron at flyRpm.com
  11. Im selling the case and the crank
  12. I have a freshly overhauled and recertified IO360-A3B6D roller case right here now. It is about 440 hours since new.
  13. I think it was the French that basically stole the design…They let Mooney some money they couldn’t repay and they took that as payment
  14. I had a friend who had a magneto go bad on a trip. The mechanic replaced both magnetos with brand new ones. After that one of his cylinders ran really really hot all the time. And after messing with intake leaks and contriming valve lift and Borescoping it and all kinds of everything else, they finally sent the engine for overhaul and when they put it all back together that cylinder still ran hot. As it turned out, there was something wrong with one of the magnetos making it fire way too early on that cylinder alone.
  15. The B&C is a Cadillac starter but it doesn’t fit. The 149LS is rumored to be a complete piece of garbage, the 149LS seems to be OK as long as you don’t crank it more than 10 seconds and overheat it because it is not durable like that. The MZ 4222 I have had it on three different engines for over 1000 hours and it was several years old before that, and it got to where the Bendix wasn’t throwing out and I took the Bendix out and lubricated under it which I’ve never been done, and has been bulletproof since then. And I have Literally cranked on it for three minutes continuously and it didn’t seem to harm it.
  16. None of us knew N205J was for sale? I’d have made a competitive offer
  17. I had a lady once on the way back from $100 hamburger….she emptied the contents of the hamburger lunch into her $500 Kate spade purse
  18. There was some kind a thing about champion fine wire plugs cracking the insulators which caused preignition a few years ago.
  19. Lycoming says it is. https://www.lycoming.com/sites/default/files/SI1154W Approved Starters and Alternators.pdf
  20. Inquiring minds want to know who built the alternator.
  21. I would still call AirPower and have them call the factory and ask them on your behalf. Sometimes they require you to get the rebuild instead of overhaul but with a cost of everything else it still may be cheaper that way.
  22. Sometimes continental give you some core amnesty. I have a friend with a baron who ran it until the engine seized and threw a rod, and they gave them full core credit for a rebuilt engine from the factory.
  23. What is the in-place part of the prebuy is the seller’s a&p shop?
