  1. Rob, from your neck of the woods you’d cross at Erie, which I don’t do, I’d go direct to Dryer Vor, DJB, then direct almost over Pelee island which pretty much keeps you within glide of land I believe Pelee has a small strip. Your no more than 35 miles from land and favoring toward Pelee like 15-20 miles D
  2. I go to Detroit often and use Coleman Detroit City airport, the FBO Avflight Detroit is staffed with the nicest staff both inside and on the ramp. It’s easy to work with Detroit Approach, they recently closed one of the two runways the open one is plenty big. The place looks a wreck but it’s all good easy in and out, as mentioned the line guys are awesome, never had trouble getting a car rental, I’ll be going back in a couple weeks. Don’t let the area get to you I’ve never had an issue I hope I just didn’t jinx me. Enjoy D
  3. T, I’m sure you did but make sure covers are flat and not bent even a tiny bit, now my leak covered an immense amount of area. I used realgasket if it didn’t work Id try Guys or cork, good luck, I guess your ready to play with the new rocking panel D
  4. Thanks Ali I basically did as you suggested, after installing I ran it up retorqued per instructions ran it up no leak, let it cool overnight checked torque ran it etc. No leak yet, waiting for Biden to leave then fly and recheck. D
  5. You mentioned 130 gallon take which has no problem exceeding 1000NM range., My 130 gallon Bravo made 1200 often without giving up much if any speed. Prior to me extending the tanks the range was poor. It was the first addition made to a new plane and the best. Only reason I haven’t extended the Acclaim is due to useful load. If range is a priority so is LR. Tanks D
  6. Terry big difference once you drive behind your own panel. Unfortunately I get stuck flying using only a part of my available stuff. Then your thrown a reroute with a coupling crossing altitudes and calculate in my head when we can just enter the plan with the stuff using VNAV etc. I’d bet the younger pilots who grew up on glass utilize much more of the capabilities
  7. Very nice, like to see it in person.. you’ll love it D
  8. Does anyone have a maintenance manual for a TSIO 550 mine seems to have become lost in cyberspace D
  9. Act who cares how fast other planes are, we all have fast planes. I just drove 1500 miles, that’s slow.im envious of all the Mooney owners on our forum..
  10. I did the same working mostly with Alex, when my PPI was completed we quickly closed, I as going to pay cash as Silent T mentioned but decided not to, we put something like 70% down so the bank was in a good position. Been over a year since closing time is flying by to fast.once I fix my oil leak we’ll be off somewhere, we are usually like to go somewhere for about a month from May to December., hardest part is finding places to go. Thinking of Tahoe we’ve canceled twice due to high winds, hopefully next time will work. May see you this summer somewhere D
  11. I got a keyring also.
  12. I also used Door Aviation, easy to work with fair interest rates, over a year ago not sure now. Although they were fast and efficient like approved same day, working with many banks for clients I had my ducks in a row, just be prepared. Once you find your plane it’d suck to have the lender I efficient.
  13. Terry I’m trying to figure out which one to attend, I’m in Delaware close to you, I guess it’s between Kentucky and Vermont. Needing an annual IPC I don’t want to screw up my dates. D
  14. Recently got a leak which seemed huge, after washing down engine it apparently was a valve cover gasket which I tightened but it didn’t help. Any pointers on replacing the gaskets engine TSIO 550 G Thanks Dan
  15. Cure, I think there’s no cure, it’s unfortunately terminal.. D
  16. As mentioned we were approved Mooneymax as a NPO, 501 C(3) all paperwork including tax returns have been completed. I lightly spoke to Jan and Mike prior to approval about combining the 3-4 organizations in an effort to have coordinated events throughout the year in differing geographical locations. Crickets. The organizations offer great programs aimed at pilot education, safety comradeship etc. Obviously the organizations being not for profit with the directors putting in unbelievable amounts of time so some kind of combinations would greatly help the Mooney pilots. If there becomes interest between the involved organizations I’d be more than happy to put in the effort trying to coordinate the events. Mike and Jan put in unbelievable amount of time and effort to provide safety to all of us. My personal thank you goes to all those involved in putting on these programs. D
  17. Looks great stranger, hope your well. D
  18. I do fly with 121.5, unfortunately some thinks it’s an open frequency to have conversations with there buddies.
  19. Case closed, can,t or won’t say anything else except the Center was very fair professional and respectful D

    LOP again

Thanks I’m aware of that. My Acclaim flys great LOP although I recently flew a couple hour flight ROP and as mentioned it’s faster than I thought, it took a year to get used to the difference between it and my Bravo. Illl check out the PDF as mentioned D
  21. I’ll give my pirep compared the Bose A30 DeltaZulu both have positives but in my opinion the Bose wins out mainly do to the popping noise I can accept but the Alternator whine is annoying as mentioned above. I really like the bigger ear cups the huge cord is kinda overkill and I do like them, but the Bose are more comfy feel lighter are a little quieter so I give them an A and the DZs a B-. Thinking of selling them not sure there still a good headset. My Lightspeeds are more comfy and little better than the DZs. Oh another positive is the CO meter. Off to write a NASA report for why I don’t know. D

    LOP again

Finally think I nailed a good LOP setting , 4-5 hour flight. After being in cruise for a few minutes set MP 29 RPM 2400, tried lean find again went to 44* LOP Great numbers 11,000 ft Fran didn’t want oxygen 190 TAS. TIT1595 highest EGT 1590 all pretty close CHT lowest 297 highest 330. FF 15.1 gph. Ill accept these fair speed great temps good economy D
  23. You kidding me.. yesterday I was flying from Tunica Ms to Wilmington De. After passing Nashville say 100 miles I was handed off multiple times around CRW I said we haven’t heard anything for a little while I called Center no response so I looked up the closest airport and got the Approach frequency and called telling them I haven’t had and they gave me the proper frequency. The controller being kinda curt said we’ve been looking for you for about 30 minutes gave me a phone number to call for a NORDO violation you friggen kidding me I’ve been trying you guys, I didn’t say that. I called said wrong number given another number requested all my pilot info cell number, N number name etc, I didn’t give pilot certificate number. They gave me a Brasher warning apparently like a Miranda warning and they would contact me when they get a chance. Why not keep me hanging. Did nothing wrong so I’ll wait. Currenting writing a NASA report and will send in this morning explaining what occurred but not communicating I made an error. What next?. I’m starting to think they Don’t want to deal with us. Then Washington center gave me the most complicated confusing change in my flight I guess my punishment. Right when handed off to Potomac and after descend through clouds I asked for direct and was given it. D
