  1. TurboTax being under $100, not a realistic comparison, although paying a tax professional $1,000 plus is another story D
  2. These are vinyl I replaced the Canadian numbers until I decided what color to affix the new n number.
  3. I took a couple people for a flight last week one was a senior in high school who was looking at some Ivy League schools, his parents are a physician and engineer so he was planning on following it there footsteps until our flight, he fell in love so Embry for there flight program is in play. What other colleges have good programs for an excellent student? Anyway on descent to landing I heard a weird noise I didn’t know where it came from. So I went looking today after an hour of flight it finally cropped up, trying everything I discovered it was coming from the defroster when I pulled out the lever it got louder. It is a whistling sound does anyone have clue what it could be? D
  4. I’m in the same camp as Lance although my Bravo ran LOP find it wasn’t worth the loss of speed nor run with the tit above 1600, I couldn’t keep the temp under 1600 so that limited the LOP on the Bravo. I do run LOP on the Acclaim since apparently the continental runs better and supposedly lasts longer running LOP. I still have difficulty getting the settings set up properly while staying under 1600 in th Acclaim. I’m obviously not setting it up fast enough to stay out of harm’s way. Not sure of the best way to get to my cruise settings either using lean find or the big pull to the fuel flow or just guessing.
  5. David which acclaim did you buy, I also bought one this year, good luck have fun and hold on D
  6. I received, my Maggie harness overnight they are quite responsive
  7. This by no means is an official answer, you must have the plane under your ownership looks like you merely have a contract must be income producing placed in service in the year looks like it not placed in service in 2023 producing income in 2023 the bonus depreciation phases to 60% in 2024, so all isn’t lost, or take delivery of it in 2023 all above is merely a guess not professional advice, unless of course you’d like to hire us I can send an engagement contract, poor attempt at humor D
  8. Your size dimensions aren’t that big, I’d try to fly in another Mooney for a longer stretch of time and adjust the seats to try and get comfy. When looking at planes last year I looked at the Cirrus and also for whatever reason didn’t like them. Other than the long body moonies I’d look at the Malibu’s or move up to a twin Baron or C310. Your giving up to much speed with th Commander Comanche or the like. Not many planes will give 155-160 knots on 9-10 gph.
  9. I’d try to fly one with the extensions on. My Acclaim had 3” extensions which I feel were hazardous I had real difficulty not riding the brakes. I’m not tall 5’8” and don’t need them the first thing I did when I got the plane home was have the MSC remove them.
  10. Although he’s going 290 mph at 17,000
  11. Regarding the phone issues at the company it doesn’t really matter. I’ve owned Mooneys since 1986 4 in total two new including my current acclaim which wasn’t new, the next call to the Mooney company will be my first. I rely on the Mooney Service Centers for my work, parts and knowledge. I’m not surprised you didn’t get a return callback good luck in you purchase adventure. I’d consider finding some owners at your airfield and see if you could get a ride in one, being a 172 driver you’d see a huge difference in or between both. I wouldn’t give up on the brand based on a Mooney blog rather as mentioned try to hitch a ride, D
  12. Nice video, interesting that little rascal started it all, morphing into a blistering Acclaim
  13. Sounds like another plane for Ray…
  14. After reading the lycoming svc bulletin PJ referred to likely it’s normal or near normal. This stuff is scary
  15. Not sure I’ll check with a magnet in morning. Can’t really see them in photo, to small.
  16. Recently did first oil change using regular oil after top overhaul, 60-70 hours. There are a few extremely small flecks of shiny metal in filter. Could this still be rings breaking in or another worrisome issue.
  17. Flying yesterday outside temperature 38 so not cold yet. At 3000 feet -3*C, my hottest CHT was 290 rest 270-290. What’s my risk for low CHTs. My profile was about 23” 2400 RPMs
  18. Years ago I had a chrome spinner on a 1977 J I owned which was on it when I purchased the plane. During its first and only annual under my ownership the MSC would not sign off on it being an unauthorized unapproved part. It was very nice and seemed much better than the white painted one I replaced it with. This has nothing to do with protection polish but the spinner.
  19. I’ve had some real issues going from a lycoming to the conty, had a surefly installed last month which helped dramatically. In addition I have a new to me procedure from a bonanza pilot which has worked 5-6 times in a row. 1. mixture full rich 2. Throttle closed. 3. Low boost pump on 4. crank and increase throttle while cranking and like Mike said it finds its happy point and starts. Procedure in old bonanza POH, but not n our Acclaims BTW I’m actually starting to like the acclaim
  20. Who ever has this plane, it was mine new from the factory in 1988, never had an issue with maintenance, plane was perfect. I sold it in 2006 D
