  1. 40"/2700RPM at takeoff is actually a great place to operate a 231. so long as your getting the 22-24 gph of fuel to the engine. your not saving anything or increasing engine longevity by pulling the power back to anything less but your giving up valuable climb performance at a phase in the flight when you need it most
  2. Could it have been the A/P elevator trim switch (on/off) buzzer?
  3. Alan- Good luck with your search. I would not have been able to sell you my bird anyway. I’m going to want whoever takes her away to promise to always keep her in a hanger at all times J
  4. ALL-I found an app thats supports flash on the iPADand allows you to do thingz such as type messages into Mooney SPACE using the iPAD. It's called iSWIFTER
  5. ...More Info: Yes there is a hot prop. No speedbrakes.
  6. You might be in luck check my posts from a couple of days ago
  7. One more thing, which has come up during some calls, I’ve been getting. The total airframe time based on logbook entries is 2800 hrs but that’s always been based on the HOBBS. This plane does not have a tach timer on the MP gauge. I’m not sure if most M20K’s are like this or if it’s something specific to my bird. In any event one flight in the plane and you’ll realize that the HOBBS spins really fast. So I would guesstimate the total actual time to be much much lower then the 2800 hours of HOBBS time. A little over an hour in the air and your looking at almost two hours on the HOBBS!

  9. Plane is available for viewing at KSGJ (Saint Augustine)
  10. I agree. Maxwell basically had a blank check this year. He flew it seven times just to get the rigging perfect! It flies great right now. I hate that first year of ownership where you find yourself fixing the little dificiences the previous owner didn’t bother correcting for whatever reason. I almost forgot to mention, while I had the interior out I had Maxwell run magnets through the longerlon tubes to insure there was no internal corrosion to the tubular steal structure. He said it was good to go! I know that's always a concern to folks when buying a plane
  11. The cowling on the K is longer due to the 6 cylinder engine. That's usually the dead giveaway and easiest thing to spot
  12. Thanks Parker...You know I’m not sure if it's priced right but I’m not concerned about that. I’m one of those guys that washes AND waxes it after every flight. You could show up to my hanger at any time and will NEVER find as much as a bug on any leading edge surface. Sufficed to say I’m sort of emotionally attached to it and selling it might actually bring a tear to my eye so the price is what it is J
  13. All- I’ve been presented with the unique opportunity and now have the ability to upgrade to a glass panel Ovation in the very near future. To make this happen I would have to first sell my current plane. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to a long body glass panel Mooney for some time; however, I don’t want to buy an Ovation so bad that I’m going to offer my plane at a fire sale price. I really like the fuel efficiency of the K model...but like the newer glass panel Ovations better then my current steam gauge set up. I know I could upgrade the panel and might wind up doing so if I don’t sell the plane say within the next 45 days. So up for sale is a very nice and recently refurbished 1982 Mooney M20K 231. I’m not going to advertise on any web site as right now and don’t want brokers calling me. I want around 95K for the plane and WILL NOT go much much lower as I would just as soon keep it based on all the money I put into it this year between the annual and interior at Aero Comfort. Pictures are posted on Mooney Space under 201 FLYER. 2500 TT (Approx) 875 +/- SMOH (All compressions in the mid 70’s) 2008 PAINT (SALTAIR) 2010 SEATS 2011 INTERIOR (AERO COMFORT) GARMIN 430W KING KFC 200 A/P $10,000 ANNUAL INSPECTION @ MAXWELL’s shop this year. ****NO DAMAGE HISTORY**** & everything works! Call Nick for more information if you’re interested @ (954)448-5061
  14. It would be cool if that Aspen engine option would be able to negate the need for a seperate grasphical engine display in the panel. Does anyone know if this is going to be the case? Sort of like a JPI 700/800 series w/o the need for a seperate JPI dedicated display.,,,one could just read the info off of the Aspen unit.
  15. According to Peter the approval was supposed to be happening in the very near future. In addition they were going to be able to integrate engine management data into the display; however, not sure about if, when, how that's going to happen?
  16. I'm going with the Aspen PRO 2000 system when it becomes certified to allow removal of ALL mechanical gyro instruments. I will also add a GTN 750 (w/remote transponder and audio panel) I feel this combo gives you the best of both the Aspen and Garmin worlds (redundancy, big screens, touch screen, etc.) My comm 2 will be my already installed GNS 430W and I will also panel mount my 696 for even more backup redundancy. This set up will also allow me to remove the entire vaccum system from my aircraft along with the old guages. I think this is as good as it will get for a while.
  17. Hey Joe- I have a single access panel that is bare metal located under the cowling. Any chance of getting it painted the same color blue you did the rest of the plane?
  18. $3000? Hummm....I think I'll just continue to use the $50 booster cushion on the co-pilot seat.
  19. Baring any unforseen circumstances I would like to attend!
  20. I have gotten my 231 up to FL 180. At about 28" and 2500 RPM I was buring 10 GPH @ about 50 degrees LoP T.I.T. It was warm out so I had the cowl flaps in trail. I dont have a wastegate or intercooler by the way and run with stock injectors. I would think a 252 would do even better not sure why you could not run LoP?
  21. Currently myself and two others. I have room for one more person...maybe two at the most. In talking with my insurance agent any more then 4 or 5 pilots on the policy and it starts to look like a flying club which this is NOT and which makes the insurance premiums go way up.
  22. Jim- If you check my web site (www.FASTFLIGHTOPTIONS.com) and click on the Bahmas Travel link you'll probably find everything your going to want to know and then some
