  1. the S1 the latest in state of the art $$$$ headests... http://www.sennheiser-aviation-s1.com/ Btw I am using my 20 year old H10-60 dc's which I modified with an ANR from headsets inc...works fine...In Europe no time to listen to music to much bla bla with controllers anyway....these Halo's look intersting though
  2. Congratulations nice l& loaded panel you have Swiss, I was wondering why you kept the sandel HSI.? Welcome to mooneyspace Luc
  3. Quote: JimR I have always wondered if you could just, while retaining the OEM clamshell exterior vent, fabricate round plates out of aluminum the same diameter as the plastic OEM interior vents, and then cut holes in their centers to which you could mount wemac vents like we have on our pilot's sidepanels. In my mind at least it would be a very clean installation and not too difficult if you had the headliner down anyway for some other reason. Has anyone else considered or executed this idea? Jim
  4. Quote: Piloto I agree that the yoke is the best place for visibility and accessibility. I made a small bracket and clamped onto the shaft. I routed the wires inside the shaft, so I don't have dangling wires. I had the 396 connected to an external antenna and the XM antenna mounted underneath the glareshield. It works so well that I cannot find a reason to install a 530 or even a GTN-750. The perspective view of the 396 on the yoke provides a larger and clearer image than that of the 530 on the center stack. In fact it is the same size as that of the GTN 750. Very happy with my configuration. José
  5. Quote: jetdriven 9 grand seems like a really low price for such a stunning piece of hardware. It ships at the last of 2012, and the money is refundable after Sun-n-Fun next year. Anyone taking them up on the offer? We are considering it. http://www.avidyne.com/products/ifd540/index.asp
  6. Quote: Magnum You put the gear switch up and blow into the pitot. So you can check at what airspeed the safety switch works, too.
  7. Had a great time flying to Hungary last week , seeing 165 Kts groundspeeds wanted to get over FL100 in Germany but was not allowed VFR, hopped over the Austrians mountains...Got vectored through Linz TMA , buzzed the destination airfield at 200 Ft to see the wind sock..... OOhh man I love my Mooney burned 140 liters of 2.6 euro fuel but enjoyed every minute of it.... Now I am back in Belgium with an Arline flight.(proffesional urgency back to work..).and my aircraft sits in Hungary the weather is lousy over the most part of Europe already for weeks... I feel ...I feel.... I feel.....well I need an IFR Ticket...NOW!!!!!...
  8. Quote: Fastbyk I took up a friend of mine yesterday for a quick ride around the city then got carried away and ended up in Tilsonburg looking for fuel. It's $1.82/ litre there and $1.88 at our home field at CYKF. Pretty sure it's less expensive than Europe but there's no other feeling like flying.
  9. Thanks Jim. Wow,what a plane the J. I made it in3hr50 for covering the 600Nm...Unfortunately ATC in Germany did not allow me to go higher then FL100 I was above the clouds and the tops where closing in on me so I had to go below the deck to remain VMC...but boy what a ride... with my car it takes two days driving.....When over the Alps burning altitude for speed I just had a big smile on my face seeing 180 Kts GS...The fastest I have ever flown PIC...just love it...Hope to post some pictures of the biggest lake in Europe (Lake Balaton) seen from 7000Ft...13 degrees in Belgium and now enjoying 35 degrees........
  10. I am off for 600Nm (holiday) trip Friday afternoon after work. I sheduled for take off 15hr00 Belgium time.... talk to Belgian, German, Austrian and Hungarian controllers and plan on having a tasty Hungarian goulash with some good wine around 20hr00 seeing my wife and kids back...now that is what you can do in a Mooney...... PS I thought it was about time to get rid of my toy aircraft avatar..

  12. issue solved by the mechanic, the down limit switch was not actuated correctly, after inserting a screw driver point the light came on......happy it was just an adjustment issue...
  13. Ok here they are......The system works perfectly..though my LDG gear issue is not solved (I am very unhappy about this)...the CB of the actuator pops when I select the master on.and the gear unsafe light/alarm enages immediatly...for me this can be only the following correct me If I am wrong.. - the downlimit switch is not working and the actuator is running against the overcurrent protection when hitting the mechanical stops..? - the actiuator is binding mechanically somewhere.. - the electrical motor is u/s (I hope not as this is major $$$$) didn't have the time to remove all panelling ..I am going to call in a Mooney expert I think........ Came home this evening and realised I forgot a major troubleshooting try out: select gear up..and then engage the CB..so the motor runs in the other direction .....pfffffffft...somewhere next week...
  14. a no brainer in Europe keep it..it's a BRNAV requirement.. Its a with all fails you still have someting.....and in europe aswel the only means to lsiten to airwave music in flight..;-)).....
  15. Btw looking for the wiring for the LDG gear logic...anybody? I thought I could overide the engage logic on ground by pushing the red by-pass switch apart from a relay click nothing happned......strange.......Tommorow I am going to simulate flight conditions with tube over the pitot and generate some airspeed........I will post some pictures soon..my DIY project turns out perfect...I am very happy
  16. just did this afternoon i worked perfectly. I took 6 bags of 25 kg and added a concrete block that I found lying around...with 400 lbs you are way on the safe side for J....
  17. so 150kg..or 300 pounds on the tail should fairly ne enough to keep it safe..I guess? Just calculating how many 25kg sand bag's I need to buy... Btw just received my new Concorde 35AXC battery...hoping to install it somewhere next week...Anybody experience with the performance of this battery? I wanted to install the LED PAR46 from Whelen but they can only be delivered from Augustus onward...the GE4522 don't look very solid to me ...you see the filament wobbling when walking around with the bulb..
  18. Thanks for all to good comments, sorry I had to catch some sleep and have it quite busy professionally but I will post some pictures soon. Jacking an aircraft is one of the most safety critical things you can do on ground...From my airline experience testing flight controls LDG swing with a pressurized hydraulic system is one of those also...to get back on the Mooney. IMHO - you need to be with two persons minimum for safety - I will try to use a giraffe (cherrypicker) to lift the nose a bit on the engine lifting point a 1T will do - to use a tail stand with a concrete weight (sand bag's)with an adjustable height for added stability I think the pitch oscillation when jacking up the aircraft is the most dangerous one....using a fixed tail stand will reduce this effect I believe...maybe overkill but safety is important and I am a strong believer in redundant safety measures....;-)
  19. brrrrrrrrrrr.....cold sweat...your right I am having second thought on the base width, but the wing won't sink as there are safety pins in place ..;-)..these are not available on the normal jacks I believe....
  20. Magnus, yepp...for this sitting we are living at the wrong enf of the pond. Btw how much fore you need for lifting the nose on a m20j when using the hydr jacks...
  21. Can't use the quote feature, this Forum is behaving strangely..anyway.. Kpc yes I used car jack stands but I extended the legs and mounted a support under the coaxial tube....the base is about 45cm= a foot and a half...Normally the main forces are vertical only, no..?... There was a thread on jacking up the aircraft which technique is the best ...I think I will use the official one using the engine lifting point with a hydraulic small giraffe
  22. Anthony, thanks for the tip it's indeed an interesting option I would have liked. I ordered the normal once though from Aicraft Spruce Europe since I needed some other stuff also (Landing light, new battery)...transport,VAT and customs are a real downer when ordering anything from outside Europe...
  23. Take customs and VAT plus transport and your up to 700 euro before your Jacking up anything on the good old tectonic plate of Europe..;-)......
  24. Would like to share on this thread experiences on building your own Mooney aircraft Jacks and best practices on using them! Two weeks ago I started constructing them myself with a set of car axle stands (don't know the correct English word for it) and two 4 ton hydraulic car Jacks.... They are almost finished and ready for action X-fingers... Just wondering if anybody used the same idea/system..? Cost until now is 100 euro's for both... Skills required basic welding and some motivation..;-). If there is interest for it I can give a technical description and some pictures...? cheers! Luc
  25. Quote: Magnum Ben, Flightplanpro crashes regularily on my MAC and EuroFPL is not always able to find a routing. I am trying Rocketroute.com at the moment, it is 10 Euros / month with 50 filings per year included. It has a 14 days trial. Have you tried it, too? I am just starting with IFR flying here and looking for the best options.
