  1. Let's see, multi-million $ aircraft, possibly billion--yes, I could see why they would want to verify with a 20-something pilot
  2. Ok, we're done here.
  3. ...and over here gentlemen, you see our segue into the bizarre. I know, you thought this thread was about why a pilot would want to join, or stay enjoined, to the AOPA. Well, this is how things go around here. We begin with the benign and end with the abnormal.
  4. Same here, makes sense...but not enough for me to own one
  5. Yes, it's a club for homebuilder's, who are hobbyists. It satisfies a need and craving even in certified AC owner's, enjoy--but don't confuse it with the issues.
  6. Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association I guess I am missing something here. If you are a pilot and you own a certified aircraft, this is it. I notice a lot of Mooney owners flock to the EAA and frankly, that mystifies me. I get all I want and need from the EAA for free, the rest is homebuilder stuff that I am not interested in. AOPA is doing the right things that work on my behalf.
  7. B&D Aircraft is Boyd Maddox's place at KAXH and it is still going strong. Worth a trip out there just to see the uncovered Mite wing he has hanging on the wall.
  8. The woodwings make an argument that the surface is smoother, hence slicker, than AL, because there are no rivets or waviness. There is also a different flexing dynamic. Al Mooney's brother was a master carpenter and was pressed into service by Al to make wings for him. The structures are truly a work of Art Then there's this: For equal horsepower, the wood wing airplanes were faster than the metal ones. And not just a little bit – we measured a speed loss of 5-8 mph when we converted the wood wing M20A to the metal wing M20B--Bill Wheat, 42-year engineering veteran of Mooney Aircraft in MAPA Log, March, 2000.
  9. I believe that the FAA banned wood-tail Mooneys in the US; i.e., AD requiring fitment of the metal tail. There is, AFAIK, a wood tail flying in Germany.
  10. Ditto Dave Morris. Seek him out here. Not to scare you, but he is as fanatical about A-models as I am about Super 21s.
  11. That's a SanDisk 'Cruzer Fit' flash drive with a Mooney tie-tack epoxied on it.
  12. The answer is that it is not one of these:
  13. Selling. For shame. Oh wait, there will be a buyer. Never mind.
  14. Are you out of your mind?
  15. Wipe it off and carry on.
  16. Great photos...that is one weird piece of metal
  17. They look awfully rusty and grody. I am happy to take them off your hands
  18. Yes. Are you selling them?
  19. Jerry the PMA/STC/TSO/not_quite_legal_parts specialist
  20. My E has two--Buck and Flash often ask for a ride. They like the automatic step as well since they are older than I am. For you youngsters...
  21. Oh what a feeling! Eh?
  22. Jolie, I see you found out where all the Moon-E's were hanging out. Good luck with the seminar!
  23. Every E needs one of these in the panel.
  24. Nice E! I think the insurance companies use a formula. They dropped in your data and cranked a number out. I also think each insurance company has a different formula. My sentence was 10 hours, which went by quick and were just wonderful.
