  1. 2 Thumbs up from me too!
  2. You got a polished aluminum one? Wow....hope they fixed the problem. Thats what i had and the one they shipped me after the recall is painted white as they told me the polished aluminum ones are no longer available.
  3. Gents: I recieved a recall letter last year. There have been multiple failures of that spinner. I had a beautiful polished chrome one and had to settle for a white replacement as they are all composite now.
  4. Put me in the no flap camp. I never use them for takeoff unless i am on a very short field.
  5. I just paid $650 to replace my stall warning. $400 bucks for the part and $250 in labour. The good news is that it is not a Mooney specific part. My mechanic had one in stock.
  6. I have 2 things that I use. 1) I need the wheels down to slow down and 2) (I wish i had a picture of this to post) I have 2 cards on my panel. One that just says " GUMPS" and the second one reads "Is your gear down stupid?" Never had a gear up incident and that may be why!
  7. I dont like anything above 200F.
  8. chris scott has a full set of rigging boards. You may want to try him.
  9. what the hell happened there? 4 reposts!

  14. C152 at 16 years old! i used it to build my hours then sold it for a 172. i bought my first plane before my first car. even back then i had my priorities right!
  15. i can vouch for CRE also. great place to stop.
  16. Sorry Chris. That was my post. I have no idea why it came up under your handle.
  17. Quote: Shadrach Anyone else up over Western MD on Xmas night? I experienced some of the worst windshear I've ever dealt with on a round robin into KCBE around 6:30PM. First time I've ever aborted an approach due to wind. This was the first time in my 13 years of flying that I experienced winds so strong and erratic as to cause rudder flutter in flight. Not only could I feel the pedals shaking, I could hear the nose wheel shaking in the wheel well. It was very frustrating, Uncommanded bank angles of 45 degrees or more on decent. I made a low pass down the runway to see if it was calmer closere to the ground, but even at 300ft it was still way beyond anything I wanted to do at night, with a passenger. Hope everyone had a Merry one! Stay safe!!!
  18. Brett: It was me that posted that and you could be quite correct, it may have indeed been changed many years ago. As i mentioned my POH was written over 50 years ago. ( I have a 1959 M20A)
  19. Becca: To be perfectly honest i do it because the POH says so. As for the full rich, yes its just for cooling. I have never had a fouled plug, and yes my POH was written 50 years ago also.
  20. My POH is quite specific. Back to 25 max when the wheels are tucked away. i stay full rich until about 3000ft also.
  21. I spent a long time looking before i bought my 50 year old Mooney. When i bought it there was no damage history ever. And i have the log books back to day 1. Within a month some idiot jumped on my wing and busted through right at the tip of the "do not walk" area. It was well documented and repaired at a cost of 12K Canadian. ( dont forget mine is a wood wing)
  22. Aaron: Add me to the " my heart goes out to you " list. Glad nobody was hurt as pride and parts can be healed.... I think everybody here has had one of those learning moments, myself included. Get her back in the air and you will be a better pilot for it. Good luck. Russ
  23. I have had my "A" at 18,000 feet more than once.
  24. PS: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. May you all have a safe and happy flying season in 2012.
  25. Alas I am with the majority and stupid work gets in the way. This year however it was the weather out west here that shut me down for most of the year. I only managed to scrape together 53 hours this year.
