  1. this was posted on another forum: His job isn't saving you money, sorry... and shops tend to be very territorial as to who the use and who they don't for parts. So do you expect your shop to help you out and find the part at the best price? Or do you think its right for him to make one phone call to his buddy that runs a prop shop and make $975?
  2. Yea I'm starting to get the itch and I just went through there in oct.
  3. To bad sounds like a good idea, maybe you could just be the distributor to some schools, like the one in SLC they have alot of planes I think around 15 that they rent out to a club, thats were I would be looking anyway.
  4. Wish I could be there, just to far for me to come, we need to have a AK fly in!!!
  5. Yea I heard about that one, maybe I could just lock the gear so I wouldn't put it up, but I was thinking something like 22's or 26's, maybe I need to get lazer on board to build me a new nose gear to put 31's under the nose now that would look COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!! Yea I know its not gona happen as far as FAA but its fun to think about.
  6. Quote: pmccand I am REALLY glad to hear where this guy is...just so happens that I planned on MOVING to St. George Utah (KSGU) in the near future. Now, I'll go there prepared! (Whew!! that was a close call!!!) PMc
  7. I wish my wife would move there, I was so cool, small grass strip just below on this side, and saw lots of caribou coming over it, awsome lakes, just the coolest mountains I have seen. If anyone is coming up I highly recomend you fly over it and take a look you will want to land and go for a drive.
  8. With the extended tanks to put the fuel at 100gal burning 8gph you could go 2325KM, thats 12.5 hrs sitting in the seat but wow that would be cool.
  9. Wow that is impressive, I want a plane that I can fly non stop to the lower 48. 1488km at that, that would be nice, add a turbo to get to the FL's and whooo hoooo, that would be knocken on a ovation, I would think.
  10. I to just trim it out for around 4-500, WOT, it makes up for some of the long climbs, and its cool to see the high ground speed. Don't say that shock cooling is a wifes tale up here, they will get all rustled up by that, I am not saying it isn't or is, just many up here think its a very big thing. I was always told if you decend with a little power then its almost impossable to shock cool, and that is how I allways do it.
  11. Anyone know if you could possably fit bigger tires on one? I would be willing to go fixed gear for the flight I needed the bigger tires, how big if any do you think you could go?
  12. I do a cold start anything after about 1hr and have no problems starting, but I only prime for just a few sec, unless its cold out and it sat for awile, then I will give it a good prime of about 6-7 sec, and it fires right up.
  13. I would love to hear what you think of it after a few flights, I have heard both they are better in turb and worse? I am looking for a good handheld but up here, you cant get xm weather and traffic would be so limited that it wouldn't be usefull.
  14. I hope they don't but I think they will.
  15. Yes, but with updating the prop I think they are going to make us pay the 10%, +600 for the prop not being new + the cost of the upgrade.
  16. My partner was coming in from 10.5 and had to get down to 2.2, came in hot and high, knew he should go around still tried to land, forced it in, and porpoised, didn't know he had struck at that point and went around to late, came in and made a nice landing. The thing that spooked him the most was the fact that he went around with a prop like that, and that the engine could have come apart. Lesson to be learned here is never try to force a mooney land.
  17. Thanks, they don't have cars anywhere I regularly go, so no good for me either.
  18. How about this for a kicker, he is charging 79hr for all shop time, including looking for parts plus 10% on the part as if he were stocking them. the shop is Above View, in KSGU.
  19. Just got a quote from Ying Ling propeller, 8754 for a 3 blade scimitar MacCauley
  20. 100LL wont kill it, it don't need killed LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
  21. I don't think you can go with bigger tire, but I really really really hope I'm (in my best ron white impression) wrong! Yea if he quits it looks like it may head up to me and then I will tell you just how small of a sand bar I can put it on! We did have a mooney not long ago that did just that, and it didn't do to bad bent some steel though but for emergency landing it was good.
  22. Quote: testwest Mooney Monetary Units = $100, Western MMUs are $1000, an Aerostar Monetary Unit is $10,000. Yowch.
  23. SkyKing correct me if I am wrong on the name of stone mountain.
  24. I was suprised how few mountains we crossed when we drove up, but you need to understand mountain weather, or as they call it up here AK weather not much differance. After driving it I can't wait till I could fly it, it would be so cool, there is the coolest strip by stone mountain, I want to live there but the wif says hell no, it is by far the coolest country I have ever seen, and I grew up in the mountains, Uintas in utah, and the Greys river by Jackson Wy, I was born in jackson. Love the tetons and the uintas but stone mountain is soooooooooooooooooo cooooooooooooool.
  25. And how much do you think 25.5lbs that far out will effect it, it would move your CG forward and I think that will slow it down.
