  1. Call my friend Kerry, he has a shop in EVW and has an STC for an flat panel for mooneys, 307-789-6866 Great mooney guy, he works on others but knows alot about mooneys. I seen a F model that he put the panel in its very nice.
  2. Ok bad jack bad.... That wasn't as clear as it sounded before I said it in my head. To clear it up a little, how do you lean at cruse say above 9K, 11K. I have been told to run max egt. Never fly at sea level so no clue what it peaks at there, and to long of a flight to find out, my max at high alt is around 1475, sounds kinda high to run all day, but I'm probably wrong. Thanks for the link, now I just need to locate my "target egt" I'm thinking around 1380-1440. Whatcha think
  3. Ok I have heard to do your runup at 1800, and full power, we are only talking about leaning, I fly out of fields that are above 5500 ft, do you lean out at 1800 or 2100 or full power(not sure that I will get more out of the motor but it's been a month since I have flown, much more than I like), I am climbing to 10.5-11.5-12.5K, I have heard to run at peak EGT, heard to run at 50 ROP, heard 50 LOP, Mooney's are slick don't want to ruin all of that. I only have about 200hrs in airframe, and would like to know what the best way to run this motor and airframe! NOT A LOP QUESTION! NOT WANTING TO RUN LOP. NEED LOT MORE HRS!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Pics of new seats
  5. Had the seats redone in my Mooney and they did a perfect job, very fast, awesome service. And only paid $1,125 with over stuffing the front seats and pockets on the back. Bobs Top Shop in SLC 801-255-3255 Will post pics as soon as I do the ferry flight to move it to another shop.
  6. Taking it to KEVW to a guy I have heard good things about, and he knows what manual to look at.
  7. Sent the mooney in for annual and now I wish I hadn't used that coupon. 67 M20F IO-360-A1A 1. Oil around intake tubes, told by many other mooney shops that this is normal, after 350hrs you can see one drop on each of them. 2. Fuel tanks leak, also told that a small whep that isn't glisting is not an issue, he wants to start patching all the leaks, saying that any leak no matter how small is unairworthy! What the hell I thought leaking wet wings werer the norm, as log as it doesnt get bad. 3. Alerions are to loose, if you move the alerion at the outside about a 1/8 of an inch you will start to move the yoke, and the other alerion. Was told there are 9 conections in there, so that is small you barrely can feel it when you pull and push on the rod at the alerion. They didn't remove the inspection plate to look at the trim conection. One panel on the back of the belly, there are three others. Didn't check the play in the tail. So getting a fairy permit to take it to another shop, thanks for letting me vent.
  8. I have found a new need for ox, is it better to go with a portable system or a built in one. Thinking 15-24 cu ft would do nicely. How much more would a built in one cost, its going in for an annual tomorrow.

Not trying to use the AOPA FD, it turns out you don't have to carry charts, or any AFD. But if you are being silly it can bite you for not having them.
  10. Would love to but the $$$ just isn't there right now. How much longer are they then the F?
  11. I like to play with my own clubs, renting some when I go to play a new cool course isn't at all appealing with me. I can the drivers on the hat rack but then the grips are on the back seat. George, what would be so dangerous about this mod?? Like I said not just going to throw them in there, looking to secure them so they can't move in flight. Beside what does a shaft weigh, like 6OZ. Yea renting a set there is an option but I have this really cool airplane and it can do it all, just would be nice to have a little more comfort. Besides I only like to play with my own clubs. Maybe my bag will show you why, Callaway Irons, V-Steel Fairway woods, Cobra Driver, Cleavland putter, lots of wedges. They are not the newest and the greatest but for me the setup works perfectly.
  12. I usually am the same way,"the only time you have to much fuel is when you are on fire" But when I go on a golf trip I am pushing my max load so I can't take full or even 50 gal. So if I had 40gal on a 3hr trip I would want my last ten gal in the same tank not 5 and 5.
  13. Ok not kidding, but not just going to throw them in there either. Thinking tubes that would go through the wall of the baggage area, and the secure them to the fuselage. So just the heads would be in the baggage area. I think the W\B thing could be worked out fairly easy, and I can fit 4 regular guys and 40 gals and 2 sets of clubs, its just the drivers are so long, it would be nice to put the shafts in the tail somehow. With the loading on the CG in smack dab in the middle, so I don't think a slight shift aft would make a big deal.

No VFR, and I always check it with the Internet before I go.
  15. In my POH is for fuel management you should, run on one tank for one hour, then run on the other one till its dry, then switch back to the first tank. Anyone follow this, sometime when I sump my left tank I will get some sealant, really don't want this stuff going through my fuel system.

I use the little brown book and was told by an instructor that it wasn't legal??? He said I have to have a current green book in the cockpit at all times! Is this right, I thought as long as I checked and made sure nothing had changed that I was good.
  18. Was looking in the tail of my Mooney and was thinking I could put some clubs back there by the ELT. Anyone try this, any suggestions on how to do it the best way? I go on golf trips with four guys and it would be really nice to put at least the drivers in the tail.
  19. Got a flyer in the mail the other day for a $699.00 annual. I usually pay $1400. He say's he works on an acclaim and a E model. Good deal or is he just fishing for more work.
  20. I take off from a strip that is 7000+ and in the summer, it gets fun. Slow climb and lots of roll but shell do it.
  21. I have heard this alot on the aopa forums, it changed my mind on buying one.
  22. I am a very low time guy and have had no problems, but this is where I got my ticket. Just think of were the wind is coming from and think how it will fall off the peaks, and you will be fine. I fly my F around the High Uintas all the time, very stable plane for it.
  23. Ah shucks, well I guess I will just have to buy a newer one. I hope for that type S conversion to. Go big or go home.
  24. I live in northern utah and was wondering if I can updat my F to a FIKI aircraft. Any downfalls other that the 5 knots listied in other posts? Will it allow me to fly in freezing fog? Clouds? What is your thinking on this?
  25. What do you ask a new ap when chosing him to work on you mooney? Any sug, for north utah?
