  1. So I was allways told on snowmobiles that 1Lbs of roatating weight, is like 7lbs of dead weight. Think this is true on planes, don't know why not.
  2. http://www.hartzellprop.com/product_applications.php?id=37&m=Mooney&k=M006 The two blade at 74in and 62-64lbs. Placard -" No cont. ops. above 24" btwn. 2350 and 2550 rpm" (M20E & M20F only)
  3. From the pic it looks like this is the one that was on there. 74in 71lbs http://www.hartzellprop.com/product_applications.php?id=37&m=Mooney&k=M001 Placard -"Avoid cont. ops. below 15" btwn. 1950 and 2350 rpm" I will put money on it I have the same restrictions on the prop that was on the plane.
  4. Yea the McCaulley is 74in and 71.4lbs, makes that MT look alot better. 25.5lbs lighter, WOW just WOW http://www.mccauley.textron.com/stc/stcframeset.html
  5. I never hear of Airport Cars Club, anyone know anything about it?
  6. We run EI's Ubg-16, and we can download the data, but I think it takes more time to install. But I like the way its set up and it has every thing you could want. We run the EI FP-5L for fuel and its ok, the old man still has proplems trying to calibrate it. But looking on sarasota, you could get a EDM-730 for 200 more and its color!
  7. I makes me sick to see airplanes that sit, I have seen lots of mooneys up here that are on their tail from snow. And then when they sell the want top $$$.
  8. Looks nice, wish I had the $$$, but then I would have a turbo put on.
  9. Anyone ever try to just build the robo, it looks like it could be easy.
  10. Don't think thats enough for me to do it there, make it 10 and we have a deal. Hell for 20 I will put your name under it, or maybe your C number!LOL I really wish I could put bigger tires under it so I could do more uniproved strips with it up here, I really think its the best airplane money can buy.

  12. I will gain about 1.5in of ground clearance, I think the three blade that was on there was 74in. The McCaully is supposed to be about 71in.
  13. He has a shop, so he has overhead, and the only reason that he if fixing the plane instead of the usual mech, is my partner didn't want to ferry it out. So now I am stuck with the motor in CO for teardown, and he wants to charge me 1K for the prop that I will have on his doorstep. Wish there was another shop on field, but no joy. Now my partner wants to have him do the annual, cause he thinks that the insurance will pay for it. How could that go wrong right!
  14. Here are the pics, makes that nose gear look strong, it must have been one hell of a hit!!!!!!
  15. As I said in another thread we had a prop strike, I want to update the prop, so I went and found a prop at a shop and had it arranged to drop ship it to the shop doing the work. The A&P wants to charge me, 10% on the part that I found, I think this is very unreasonable. What do you all think? Would you pay it?
  16. HA..HA...HA... winking in the dark, I like that I was thinking of puting it on the back of my arm, but not sure.
  17. Like I said, taking off from 11K DA airports all summer, the three blade I think is the best climb. The only thing I don't like about the MT is that if you need any dressup then you have to go to a prop shop, at lest thats what my A&P said, and with an McCulley any A&P could do it, he also said that the McCulley three blades he has done and maintains have had no nicks at all in them he said that they won't pick stuff up off the ground like most props will. If I thought that I could get the climb out of a two blade that I can out of three, then I would go for it, just don't think I can.
  18. If a guy really wants a tat of the old mooney emblem, would you say he has a sickness for mooneys? It would be my first, just not sure where to put it.
  19. I was wondering whats the worst strip you have landed your mooney on, in talking with my partner I get the feeling he may be done flying after his oops. Wish I could fit bush wheels under it, that would look cool. How short have you put your mooney into at sea level? I always was flying in high DA so the best I ever did was about 1000.
  20. Insurance will be covering the cost, to replace the old strait three blade hartzell, the quote that they got from the original shop was 10,050, I can get a McCally scimitar for 10,250. So it seems alot better to get the scimitar. I cant buy out my partner, just now way of doing it, thats why its still in UT. What prop is hung on the front of the airplane wont make any differance. If he decides to sell it, then I think it will help it sell with a scimitar prop. Not for more just make it more attractive. Thanks for the advise guys, surprising that nobody seems to like the McCaully.
  21. Ok here are some numbers from stockten propeller, McCaully scimitar-10250, MT scimitar-11,650, Hartzell strait three blade-9,250
  22. what kind of DA do are you taking off from and what do you see for a climb out? Looks like most say a hartzell but i was told that the strait three blade hartzell is about the worst performance out there right now, its done ok so far with us but just looking for more performance.
