  1. Not southern but I guess that would depend on what you call southern, I'm in northern utah and play around the high peaks as much as possable. Is there something (in a pipe dream that I could help someone that has more hrs than me) help with?
  2. Wondering if any of you have mooney specific IFR tricks. Like what approach speed do you use, i have foun 90 GS isn't as easy to maintain in my mooney as a 120 GS. Mabey just me but wondering none the less.
  3. nice to kow, what kind of sound profing did you use, i have heard "you can hear a watch beep from my back seat" to "it made no diffence save your money"
  4. Before I had my hanger tho i did use a gas fired heater on the tailgate of my truck pointed at the spinner, with cowl flaps closed and after about 5 min the motor was warm.
  5. I have mine in a hager that is kept at about 60f. When i was doing my traing in 172's about ther only diff, was leting it warm up before take off. Sometime i would have to sit at run up for a long time. But with my mooney i just keep cowl flaps closed to try to keep heat in. But like i said its warm before its pulled out.
  6. I hear you there. Still trying to let my plane go down for that new interior. If its not my bladder its on of my pax. Cant seem to get longer that about 2.5-3.5 hrs. Not much fuel burn in that.
  7. Duh i forgot i had posted this, sorry for asking things over and over thanks for the pics. It looks quite simple to do i think. I will have the interior out for a redo when i do it so i will have about two weeks to do it in. But still looking to tips from anyone that has allready done this themselves, was told by lasar that they would not recomend me doing the picture window myself, it looks a lot nicer, does it improve the view. Did you notice a significant diffence in the back with the new picture window?
  8. Right that is why i havnt done it yet. I think if i can do under 1500ft at home consitantly, and play on a lower or mabey longer grass strip, to find the effects first. High DA is what i am used to flying in that is why i know the climb out could get tricky. When flying out of evw it was 10000ft DA I was somewhat light and could only get 300ft climb. So I know I wont do it if its hot. Any suggestions on a good grass strip around northern ut. Or southern UT NV area?
  9. thanks that website would be appreciated
  10. The strip i would like to go to is 3400ft at an elev 4933. With 9000ft peaks around it.
  11. but the real question is how much take off performance is lost, wet grass, dry grass? There is what my big concern is i know i can land but the take off is questionable, mainly because my poh is a pos and has no info on take off on grass.
  12. no inner doors, but that prop isnt a long way from the ground. How do you find out the condition before hand for sure? I guess theres not anyway to know for sure. I think i will try to find some lower elev grass to play on first, the ones i really want to go to are in the ID backcountry, big peaks to play with and that dont bother my as much as making sure i can keep a good enough climb out till i clear them. Any sugestion on a low alt long grass strip some what neer northern UT?
  13. yea i want to do it myself but i will make sure i will use the right sealent, was wondering how they come out, if its just a simple sandwich plate, or a complecated clip, or just for sure what to expect.
  14. Oh yea about the pot holes, do you land on aspalt and go look first? It seems to me that a prety small pot hole would make my prop strike, that has been my biggest concern with grass strips, heard of guys mowing the grass with there prop, am i just silly to think this i stupid?
