After watching the video again with a friend, I think that this is a case of the pilot showing the characteristics of slow flight [at a low altitude] and wanted to demonstrate a stall [at a low altitude]. He didn't keep the ball centered and he inadvertently went into the spin. My comment about the shoulder harness is based on the fact that my beautiful face went smashing into the glareshield of a 1963 M20 C/D going about 55 mph. Had shoulder harnesses been installed I wouldn't have suffered quite as much! I think it was one of the first additions on my 65 E model. Plus, for me, if I have a KID in the front seat, I have the shoulder harness on. I know that you don't have to, but I do out of safety, and vanity, and fear of further pain and suffering. [HA].

In my opinion the pilot of this Mooney inadvertently got into this spin. I think that his lack of attention to safety issues such as CG, and shoulder harnesses is really sad. For me, this is the kind of pilot who gives GA a bad name. His final approach was shoddy, and the landing wasn't great either. Bascially someone who needs some dual with a Mooney CFI.

Many congratulations on your airplane, the love of flying, and the appreciation for the Mooney Airplane. Your passion and the combination of a wonderful airplane should add up to many many hours of Mooney fun. Our airplanes are the best in the world, and in my opinion some of the safest as well. Fly her by the numbers and you will rarely be let down. I had 50 hours or so when I got my Mooney, now have 450-500. Enjoy enjoy enjoy. -

This is our latest Mooney Ambassador video from beautiful and historic Santa Paula Airport which opened in 1930. Thus I decided to back it with vintage music! Enjoy and Merry Christmas. Over 12 years ago, Santa Paula Airport began what is called the "First Sunday of the Month" or "First Sunday at the Airport". On the first Sunday of each month (except for weather and national holidays) aircraft of all ages and types are displayed and hangar doors are open with docents on hand to give free tours. News ...of the First Sunday at the Airport has spread by happy visitors and magazine and news paper articles. Pilots from other airports are flying their classic airplanes in to display and enjoy the day. Mooney Ambassadors Mitch Latting, Jolie Lucas, Charlotte Keller, Bob Keller, Gabriel Lucas Holt, and Chuck Raines were in attendance. Other Ambassadors scheduled to attend were dissuaded by a poor weather forecast. We were lucky to have partly sunny skies and the event was well attended. Santa Paula is a lovely airport and well worth a trip for a visit. Here is the link for our Facebook group and the video is located down the page to the left. If you would like to be part of the Mooney Ambassadors, you are welcome to sign up on Facebook, or just drop me an email: jolielucas@charter.net http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=132057967005

Short Notice I am sure, but please consider joining us for an impromptu Mooney Ambassador Event on Sunday December 6th. We will gather in the morning and park together. Please bring your Mooney Ambassador display tags if you have them, and if this is your first event, let me know! Here is some information on the event: Over 12 years ago, Santa Paula Airport began what is called the "First Sunday of the Month" or "First Sunday at the Airport". On the first Sunday of each month (except for weather and national holidays) aircraft of all ages and types are displayed and hangar doors are open with docents on hand to give free tours. News of the First Sunday at the Airport has spread by happy visitors and magazine and newspapaer articles. Pilots from other airports are flying their classic airplanes in to display and enjoy the day. Added features of the First Sunday are automobile clubs, airplane rides, The Young Eagles Program (call Neal at (805) 647-6994 for information), and The Gift Tent....Volunteers have been selling aviation related items for years as a fund raiser for the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula. The Gift Tent has great items at reasonable prices, all items are tax included and all proceeds are for the museum. http://www.airnav.com/airport/KSZP http://www.amszp.org/ First Sunday Every First Sunday of the month, please come out to visit our Museum! Local aviation history comes alive on First Sundays. Our Chain of Hangars are open for you to explore from 10am until 3pm. Hangar Number One is the first in our chain of hangars. It tells the story of the founding of Santa Paula Airport in 1930, and that's just the beginning of the adventure. Each of these privately owned hangars in our Chain houses a variety of vintage aircraft and privately owned collections of various types of memorabilia from antique radios to racecars. Several other aircraft owners put their antique aircraft on static display and many vintage aircraft also fly in each month. Car Clubs also frequently grace our taxiways on First Sundays. Our Museum Tram is available to save you some steps between hangars. The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 723 offers free airplane rides to kids ages 7-17. The Museum's Gift Hangar, located inside CP Aviation, offers a wonderful variety of toys and apparel for the airplane buffs of all ages. Every First Sunday is a little different, but our First Sunday Open House is always free to the public. Cancel if rain. Mission Statement "To educate the public of all ages in aviation and its history, both in general, and as it relates to Santa Paula, and to inspire, motivate and challenge the younger generation to carry on the dreams of our aviation pioneers. " Please RSVP to me, or on the Facebook group if you are a member. Happy Holidays! Jolie Jolie Lucas Mooney Ambassadors Share the Passion N6619U 1965 M20E N211MJ 1994 Ovation

I am a long-standing member of MAPA, and joined MOA when it started. I subscribed to MOA for two or three years, then didn't receive many magazines. I do concur that the MOA magazine was more technical. I believe in MAPA. I appreciate that they spend thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands to attend OshKosh this year [and every year]. Our Mooney Airplane Company chose not to go for financial reasons. They are present, responsive, and have had the best Mooney Minds contributing over the years. The MAPA forum is frequented by the likes of Don Kaye, Don Maxwell, Stacey Ellis, Paul Lowen and others. I think that every Mooney owner should be a member of MAPA. It is a grass-roots group with a long history. And without new members, it won't grow. Just my two cents.

This is a great thread. We have been flying with Gabriel since he was about four. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is a frozen washcloth in a ziplock. It is really refreshing if you fly a Mooney without airconditioning. We also have taught Gabriel that we do not talk in the pattern. We use a "quiet" hand signal to let him know that we are focusing on landing. This is also a time when he can clean up his area. Just a few more thoughts here. I just make flying a part of our routine. Not a choice for the kids. It is our primary mode of transport these days. Happy flying everyone. Jolie

Mooney Ambassadors--American Legends
mooneygirl replied to mooneygirl's topic in General Mooney Talk
I wish you could too! We are doing the planning for the 2010 Ambassador season, in case there is a fly in around KS or your region that you would like to turn into an Ambassador event. For more info. check out our Facebook group. Or for our videos: YouTube. We will be on Mooney.com in the near future. -
This from Jennie Mitchell at Mooney Airplane Company: Mooney Airplane Company will be at Van Nuys airport, CA, this weekend, 14th November, for the American Legends last show of the year. 10am - 4pm. All welcome. We look forward to seeing you there. Mitch and I are attending, and possibly a few other Ambassadors.

Thank you for posting your response. I don't think that there was any problem with the post. I would only suggest that you would post a new topic, in one area, and that would be it. ArtCraft is a family owned business and a good employer in Santa Maria, CA. Their work is excellent and they are a pleasure to deal with. If I had my fuel leak issue fixed, my E model would be there now. All the best to us business owners is this economy!

PC Control System Troubleshooting
mooneygirl replied to Flybeech21's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I have PC in my 65E. I just press the button when I take off, land, or turn. I have never really understood why folks would want to take out the button or put a rubber band on it. It is second nature for me to press the button. Flying from the right...isn't very hard at all to overcome the PC. Just my two cents. -
Hi there I fly between 100-150 hours per year, a mix of business and personal travel. I haven't ever costed out the price per hour in my E model. However when I was in pre-purchase, I remember thinking it was $75-85 per hour. I do not know on our Ovation, so I suppose you have to figure out lower fuel burn versus more time in the air. Aren't we all lucky to be flying these wonderful machines by Mooney? Wow.
-
Also remember that for $29 additional you can get the legal representation from AOPA. This allows instead of the one instance per year, unlimited consult in the case of an aircraft purchase. They are helpful, knowledable and for $29 it is hard to beat.

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1168646095412&oid=132057967005 A wonderful day was had by all who attended the Parade of Planes in Hayward, California, October 17th. Jennie Mitchell and Natalie Ellis provided an informational hand-on experience for potential buyers. This friendly, dynamic display was a popular crowd pleaser. Mooney Ambassadors in attendance were Michael Coyle, Bob Keller, Don Kaye, Charlotte Keller, Jolie Lucas, and Mitch Latting. We had a wonderful time. Enjoy our video on Face book, link above.

Hello All, Thank you for participating in the Mooney Ambassadors! I wanted to ask you to please think about events in your region, state, town, or country coming up in 2010. One of the big ways we can help the Mooney Airplane Company and support general aviation is to attend Solo events: those in which Mooney reps are not attending. So please think about what events in your community you would like to attend. We will be getting the technology together very soon to facilitate your posting an event, signing up, and perhaps volunteering to be the point person for the event. Dual events: are events that are going to be attended by Mooney Sales reps. They are the point person for those events. Winter is upon us, at least for those in the US and Canada. This is a time where we hibernate a bit and dream of lovely Spring flying, Sun N Fun is around the corner, and as well local airport days, fly-ins and the like. Do some daydreaming.... where would you like to go to support our Mooney Airplane Company? For our Ambassadors "down under" what is going on during your flying season? Are there events you will be attending that we could advertise for you and support you as an Ambassador? I have templates for: display tags, credentials, Mooney informational sign Mooney coloring pages, and prop tags and more. Let me know how I can help! Mooney is on-board here, and thrilled to have so many Ambassadors for the brand. Tell your friends and fellow Mooney lovers. They can join our face book group, or at least view the face book page and watch our videos from Jackson and Lake Tahoe [http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=132057967005]. If you have any questions, please do not hestitate to email me, or message me on Face book. Jolielucas@charter.net or 805-709-6619 by cell.
