  1. Took my dad's 2003 Harley Davidson trike to the dealership. Every once in a while, I start it up to blow the cobwebs out so it won't stagnate till it's time to sell it. Long story short, it stopped starting. I fussed over it for a while and assumed no fuel pressure. Not wanting to deal with it, I took it to the dealership. They confirmed no pressure. Only 4000 miles on this bike. They stated that both injectors were bad and that you can not clean HD injectors. 4000 miles only. Did I mention that? New pump, New injectors, New 'Y' tube? and fuel filter kit. Oil and filter change, brake bleed and flush. $800 parts. $800 labor. I just shake my head first at my laziness, and then at the cost of goods and labor at a dealership. I guess I'm kicked out of the CB club....
  2. Oh no. Mechanical issue aside, searching for a shorted wire is so damned hit and miss. Good luck.
  3. Ah. They both started with fabric, and both could be metalized. Got it.
  4. A 140 with the six cylinder?
  5. Easy. F, or J, or 231 F with a Ray Jay turbo? Sure. J with one? Sure again. Really need 170kts? Just start with a 231.
  6. I was going to.ask just that.
  7. Then the question is why did the fuses both get knocked out? Are they in series? And both blew simultaneously?
  8. This is metal wing, with the two struts. So that is an A model?
  9. That is what I was thinking, how small it seems. It does have six cylinders though.
  10. Really! So Ethenol free pump gas and it is good to go?
  11. Six cylinder with only 145 hp?
  12. So a precursor to the 172 straight tail?
  13. Just found out it is 145hp
  14. Hey folks. I know this is an easy answer for somebody, just not me.
  15. Oh. It is in the heading. Oct. 8th.
  16. Don't see a date on the flyer other than October. I will look again?
  17. Did you just try to compare an airport diner with Gallaria area eateries? Really?
  18. I learned this exact thing on The Darter I am flying. Two cylinders showed low compression, but I can say I did not feel anything wrong. Power seemed good, no excessive oil consumption that I could tell, no oil down the belly, etc etc.
  19. The checklist says to go rich, so yes though I do agree with you.
  20. When I taxi, I pull the lever down half way. The engine does not stumble so maybe I can do more? After takeoff and turning fuel pump off, I pull to lean untill I see the the temp Guage needle move toward the preset redline. How close to the redline do I get? I am sorry I do not know what temp the red line is set at. No engine monitor. I am flying 4500-5500ft, 2400rpm. Between 110-120 MPH. I go rich at Takeoff and landings with fuel pump on.
  21. Couple of questions on fouled plugs. I have been flying a Cherokee 180 since the Darter went down. This plane is flown regularly. Each time I get in and do the run up, the second click runs rough. I then do a lean rpm run to clear the plugs. Repeat the run up procedure to confirm the carbon burned off. I lean to taxi, lean after takeoff and cruise, etc, etc.... When I get back from my XC, I do a run up to see if the fouling returned. The answer is yes. This has happened the last three trips of 1.4 hours each. I don't know how the others fly the plane, but I doubt they lean as consistently as I do. I "feel" as if I lean enough, but what do I know? What is the best practice for burning off carbon? What is best practice for leaning? Is there something mechanical going on? Thanks, David.
  22. I spoke with them. They(Spring Aviation) are not the manufacturer. It seems Horton has quit making the kits, and has sold. I cannot as of yet figure out who the buyer is/was. I have figured out a little more on the plane. It needs a wing as well as the STOL kit. Specifically the outer skin of the kit on the right wing.
