  1. According to their website, there are 3 engine options for the V-twin... Lycoming IO320, Lycoming IO360, or Titan IO370.
  2. When I redid the panel in my C model, LASAR had pre-made panels for my C-model. When my avionics shop installed them, they did not have to modify anything other than cutting holes for instruments, matching the screw holes, etc... Since my avionics shop is part of a larger full mechanics shop with a sheet metal shop they had no issue with doing this. So you may want to try LASAR and see if they make them stock for your Bravo.
  3. I am familiar with the school in the fact that I know it is there but I have never had any interactions with them. I hope it is going well for you. If you ever want a ride in a C model, just PM me. I am usually there about every other weekend or so.
  4. Just after I bought my C model I had issues much like this with starting. It would take a long time to start. Pumping the throttle and waiting did not seem to make any difference. I would do what has been mentioned about pumping it 10-12 times then waiting then trying to start then repeat. Being new to Mooneys I really had no idea that something was wrong. Just thought it was normal in cold weather to be like this (it was winter when I bought the airplane). Previous owner was around when it was happening and he said that it was just that way and took a long time to get started in cold weather. I had a feeling there was something wrong and was worried that I was wearing down other parts of the engine when trying to crank for so long without it starting (low oil pressure, metal on metal scraping prior to oil pressure building up, wear on the starter, etc....) I contacted a mechanic that told me that it sounded like the carburetor was not getting any prime from the accelerator pump and that I should consider rebuilding the carburetor. I did and now 14 years later I can start the engine with 3 pumps in warm weather and about 5 pumps in frigid weather (frigid in Texas may be different than frigid elsewhere) and on about 2-5 blade turns. Starts right up. So you may want to consider something wrong with the carb and you may need a rebuild. On mine, and I am sure all the very knowledgeable folks on here will correct me, but the accelerator pump is what primes the carb in a C model. It has a diaphragm of some sort in it. Mine was torn and worn out. So when I was pumping the throttle thinking I was priming the carburetor, it really wasn't doing anything at all, or very little.

  9. The Airport manager at my home airport (KFWS - Fort Worth Spinks) is awesome with this. They resurfaced all our runways and taxiways and he kept us informed almost daily as to the progress and taxiway/runway closures and timelines. Even though NOTAMS were in place he still e-mailed all tenants. He has been constantly emailing tenants that the keypads to open the gates are going away and you have to pick up your access cards. This has been going on for a year and the poor guy is still emailing people that they have to pick up their cards or they won't get access to the airport. Some would have just sent the one e-mail and maybe one reminder but not our manager. He is awesome.
  10. Thanks to everyone for the replies. I went to the airport yesterday and the Normalize mode worked this time for some reason. Not sure why it did not before. It did just normalize the EGT's and not the CHT's like it does on @Skates97 monitor.
  11. Forgive me if I phrase this incorrectly but, at 94 octane, is it true that the power output will be less and thus the miles per gallon of fuel will also be less than the 100LL? And if so will it be enough to notice…meaning you will go less distance for the same amount of fuel and it be noticeable?
  12. The latest edition of Flying has an article about her road back. It was written in December. She speaks about just soloing again in a Cessna 150. Even has a photo of her getting her shirt tail cut.
  13. Thanks. It never did work since install. I never really paid attention to it until recently when I heard people speak about using it for runups and in cruise flight.
  14. Thanks for the photo. So with mine, when I press LF for 3 seconds it says NRM at the bottom but the bar graphs stay in standard mode. They do not do what yours are doing in this photo. So I think it may be an issue with my EDM 900 but I cannot get the guys at JPI to understand what is happening. They now want a video of the EDM in my airplane.
  15. I don't think so because it does say NRM on the bottom and the manual says that appears when in normalize mode so it is triggering the mode to occur just nothing happens.
  16. I am having an issue with my JPI EDM 900 engine monitor. When I try to put it in normalize view, nothing happens. It says NRM on the bottom of the screen but nothing changes with the bar graph. The EGT's do not seem to normalize in the midpoint like the manual says. They still look the same as in standard view with the top of the EGT bars being the temperature. I have tried to explain this to JPI but they now want a video of what is happening. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or it is my monitor but it has never been able to do this since installed. Any ideas? I am doing what the manual says, press and hold LF for three seconds. The icon NRM comes on the screen. I make no power changes per the manual but the bars look like they did in standard view. Do any of you have a photo of a EDM in normalize view? Thanks.

  18. I agree with what others have stated. I would find another instructor who is more familiar with Mooneys. This last statement shows that your instructor is just along for the ride it would seem and not there to teach you about your new airplane. Also, you stated that this is the first complex aircraft you have flown. Alot to take in. New airplane to you and you being new to complex aircraft flying. He seems to be basically saying that the airplane controls you. Remember, you control the airplane. Find someone that has a lot of hours in Mooneys and not someone who has flown in them but never really instructed someone from scratch in one. It is one thing to take a non-Mooney instructor up for an IPC or a flight review in a very familiar to you airplane...it is quite another thing to get trained from scratch in a Mooney and also do complex work (not that terribly difficult) with an instructor who is just along for the ride.
  19. When we first bought the plane 16 years ago, the original paint was a yellow on beige sort of thing, so my wife came up with the name "ButterCup". We repainted the plane but the name stuck.

  21. And it warms up rather quickly. Like @carusoam said, you can reach in the pilot side little window and reach the pitot heat switch. I turn it on, by the time I walk over to the pitot tube it is hot then walk back and turn it off. Matter of seconds to heat up. Don't leave it on and do other things or it will burn out and I hear they are very expensive to replace.

  24. I guess I am learning from you Scott. I did see Dan Gryder's video on this and the first thing I thought of was the temp on the ground being above freezing. I then thought about the temperature inversion but nowhere could I locate a historical skew-t for the time of the accident. I was slightly beyond the time that rucsoundings says you can access past skew-t's. Is there another website to look at historical skew T diagrams?
  25. @Alan Fox may be able to get you a used one that might have to be cleaned up. That is why @carusoam recommended a shop in Texas.
