Welcome Mike Busch on MooneySpace
DonMuncy replied to MooneyMitch's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I think Mike has a real problem. He is (and has been) so generous with his knowledge and advice, I can see how easy it would be to see a zillion post per day for "ask Mike". We should be careful not to lean on him too much. Maybe we ought to just go ahead and ask "the list" our questions, and let him jump in when he has the time, or when he thinks the information coming out really needs his help. -
thanks Craig. We really appreciate the work.

Note from Don Maxwell: I had a request from Mooney this afternoon to get the word out about parts availability. They have come a long ways in the past few months. Many of you have griped and complained about parts. Stacey, Frank and Mikey have pleaded with management and management has said ok, we'll try it. They have brought back a welder, machinist and a few weeks ago a sheet metal guy. They have been able to produce all welded parts, machined parts such as the much needed bushings that Mooney's are so fond of. Recently they have been turning out much needed wing and control surface skins. Today they arranged for local heat treating so now they can produce stamped parts such as gear doors. Doors have been in high demand for many months. OK folks, it's your turn. There is an old saying about gear ups. There are those that have and those that will. If you haven't, go ahead and let's get it behind you while fuel is high and you're not flying much. If you have, maybe you didn't do it as well as you may have wanted too. Go for it. Think of it as your part of the stimulus to get aviation moving. Everyone benefits, shops, engine folks, prop folks. I once heard Jimmy Garrison say you should gear up every 7 or 8 years. Why? You get a big help on your engine overhaul. A new prop and if you don't have one, a smooth belly conversion is usually a standard upgrade after a gear up. How about that grass strip you have wanted to try. Do it. Gear doors are available. Tanks can be patched or resealed. Hangars are for sissy's. Leave it out. Hail damage will get you a new paint job, maybe some glass. Mooney needs to sell parts to keep these guys on the payroll. It's up to you. Now let's get out there and do something stupid. At least pass the word to your MSC or local mechanic. They need orders not phone calls inquiring about parts. If you need or will need something, place an order with your local MSC, or me. Would someone please post this on Mooneyspace as I can never remember my password. Don

And the celebrity list goes on. A few pages later I find a two page spread on hypoxia written by our own Amelia Reiheld.

I just got my October 12 edition of General Aviation News, which contains a full page story on our own Mooneygirl and husband(Jolie Lucas and Mitch Latting). It concerns their fight to save Oceana Airport and their support of Mooneys and GA. Kudos.

The system only allowed me to attach 8. I will do a couple more to get all the plane photos I took.

If you will pardon me for bragging, my plane won the K model award. I took some photos of some of the planes, but none of my own. My plane can be seen on my photo gallery.

Day Trip to Homecoming Saturday: Need ride or CFI
DonMuncy replied to smccray's topic in General Mooney Talk
Scott, I hope you find a ride or a CFI. We are going down Thursday, so won't be able to help. Your plane is (or was) in the hangar next to mine at RBD. -
Jolie & Mitch I made a note of your numbers. I plan on arriving about 11:30 to noon. Norma and my numbers are 214 207-6774 and 214 207-6744. We will get in contact one way or the other. These numbers are for anyone else interesed also.

What time are you thinking Jolie.

All American is top notch. I have never had Jimmy Garrison or David McGee tell me anything which was not 100% true.

"And the Arbitrators come from a pool of people that are typically used by the defendant's over and over again." Are you telling the people on this list that the defendants get to pick the mediator. That is what your statement tends to indicate. Sorry I mis-spoke I said mediator when I meant arbitrator.

Here is the response I got from Jeppesen. "Thank you for contacting us. We see that replacements should have been included for these pages. We have placed an order to resend these revised SIDs and STARs. Please expect these to arrive within 5-7 business days.."

Dave, I agree with you 100%. I really like the Jepp charts, but as soon as my subscription expires, I will buy an Ipad and go with NACO. It's a shame.

I got tired of using a seat belt for a gust lock and having it chafe my leather yoke covers. I came up with a device that holds the ailerons and elevator firmly, doesn't weigh too much, is fairly easy to hook up and not expensive to build.
-
Well, I guess the choices are.... 1. Nobody has Jeppesen charts 2. Nobody with Jepp charts is in the South Central area 3. Nobody cares whether they have arrival or departure procedures 4. Nobody else got their revision notice yet 5. I'm the only one who got a notice like that 6. Everybody figures they can't do anything about it, and will just wait and see 7. Everybody has the explanation figured out, and doesn't want me make me to look dumb 8. Some other explanation I haven't thought of. Anyway, I e-mailed Jeppesen and am waiting for a response

My subscription with Jeppesen is only for the south central region. I got my chart updates yesterday and found that Jepp tells me that they are deleting military procedures (which is fine with me). But then they list the charts to delete, which includes all the approach and departure procedures for the Dallas metroplex. I really can not believe these procedures are bing tossed by the FAA (or whoever), nor can I believe that Jepp is no longer providing charts for SIDS and STARS. I surmise this is just an erroer on their part. Or am I missing something. This happened on Saturday so I can't call Jepp yet.

If you have a steel tank, the legal life limit is 30 years and then requires replacement. I replaced mine last year for a price of just under $1000. And if you do not have the valves, canulas etc, Aerox can set you up with all you need for a few hundred. There are ways to save some. PM me if you like. Don
