  1. This is one of the very rare instances where I consciously break St. Busch / St. Deakin's commandments. The safety consideration of not having to move three levers in the correct order in a potentially high-stress situation of a go around due to a bounce, "baby on the runway", or something else wins, in my humble personal opinion, over the cylinder longevity consideration. As a matter of fact, in the end of descent the cylinders are comparatively cool anyways.
  2. What is your mixture position on landing? Full rich (per POH) or last cruise setting (per Deakin @ Co.)?
  3. Same. I routinely see 240..260 dF CHTs operating deep LOP in winter, and I am not particularly concerned about lead scavenging as I see zero evidence of deposits on spark plugs.
  4. I have been toying with this idea as well. Any opinions on whether a non-credit option, i.e. taking classes and graduating with a "vocational certificate" is of any use for potential FAA A&P certification?
  5. But the range will increase.
  6. Correct, the last cylinder to reach the desired LOP or ROP delta, which is not necessarily the last cylinder to peak.
  7. Totally agree, once you get to really know your engine. Took me a while to map fuel flow at various altitudes and to get used to some of my engine's quirks.
  8. I lean to the point where the lowest delta meets my requirements, e.g. for 50 LOP lean to -58..-61..-50..-57 or some such.
  9. Sounds about right. I don't have exactly the same data set as yours (I don't love either 20 LOP or 50 ROP setting at 6500 ft), but I go from 8.7 gph running 50 LOP at 11500 ft to 10.7 gph 100 ROP. This is running at WOT and 2450 RPM. 1971 M20E, A1A.
  10. Yes, William and Sara are a joy to work with. Highly recommended.
  11. Looking for relatively recent numbers. Thank you!!
  12. What do people put into their IO-360s in Europe?
  13. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1759892076/piper-pa28-pilot-storm-window-latch Works very well for me.
  14. Hi Alan, do you still have the airspeed safety switch, p/n 880013-505, with mounting bracket? Thank you!
  15. Do you happen to have the p/n for the replacement switch? Thank you!
  16. Come on man, I just spat out quite a bit of a very, very decent wine!!
  17. Yep. No pointed tubes on my E.
  18. I am concerned that vented liquid will strip the paint... My tanks lose up to a gallon per side on hot summer days when topped off to the brim.
  19. @Marc_B Thank you. Thorough, succinct, and well documented.
  20. Don, how do you plan to deal with fuel venting caused by thermal expansion in summer?
  21. Enough evidence to determine? No, of course not, I never implied that.
  22. Observations by two members are literally evidence in support of Swift's statement )))
  23. A flight school at KSQL has a fuel truck with Swift 100R servicing its 172 fleet. One day that STC will be expanded beyond IO-360-L2A.
  24. 108 knots on half mile final, i.e. 105 correcting for 3 mile tailwind (as per report)?
  25. Tried this one with great results, but it appears to be mildly corrosive - at least on my hardware
