  1. Don, how do you plan to deal with fuel venting caused by thermal expansion in summer?
  2. Enough evidence to determine? No, of course not, I never implied that.
  3. Observations by two members are literally evidence in support of Swift's statement )))
  4. A flight school at KSQL has a fuel truck with Swift 100R servicing its 172 fleet. One day that STC will be expanded beyond IO-360-L2A.
  5. 108 knots on half mile final, i.e. 105 correcting for 3 mile tailwind (as per report)?
  6. Tried this one with great results, but it appears to be mildly corrosive - at least on my hardware
  7. In addition to leaks and seeps through imperfects seals and rivets, I am also concerned about the fuel that slowly vents with expansion in summer. Those slow leaks last for hours and are impossible to control for - other than to always park the plane with less than 80% full tanks. The recommendation to "immediately" clean spills after fueling would be impossible to follow in the above scenario.
  8. Yes, good point, I will most likely use some of the fuel sample to brush a painted panel every couple of days - in addition to submersion testing.
  9. The plot thickens...
  10. So... No conceivable downside??
  11. pm sent
  12. Rumor has it that there is a product from dry suit scuba diving world called She-P. Male analog is a condom catheter connected to a hose and a purge valve.
  13. Wonder if any NorCal Mooney drivers with an STC would care to donate a pint for a paint aggressiveness test vs 100LL.
  14. Ugh...
  15. I am curious as well
  16. George, thank you for a thoughtful and detailed answer. If you really want to drive your point #7 home, you might want to show a long-term test with say three identical painted inspection panels submerged in 100LL, Mogas, or G100UL for a couple of weeks. Even better if there is a fresh, controlled depth scratch, a rivet, and a screw in each test panel.
  17. Vr, Vx, Vy, Va, Vbg, Vfe, Vle, and touchdown speeds with and without flaps at MGW -200 and -600 lbs.
  18. Ah, we were talking about the user-defined ticks on manifold pressure gauge.
  19. Great, thanks for the insight! Waiting for them to respond.
  20. Thanks, Eric! Reached out to McFarlane and LASAR. Looks like BAS Parts has a used cable, might as well snatch that one in case all else fails.
  21. Thanks. McFarlane appears to only carry controls for vernier-type designs. I suspect insufficient lubrication or something thermally seizing because the control works perfectly once the plane warms up a bit.
  22. My engine controls are becoming very difficult to operate in cold weather, especially the mixture control. What is the appropriate winter lubricant and lubrication points? Haven't been able to find this info in my maintenance manual. I have a 71E with those silly levers.
  23. I do not know the owner/filmmaker. Just stumbled upon this video on Youtube. Hope someone in Europe has a wing collecting dust in the far corner of the hangar..
  24. Any word on other Peninsula airports?
  25. Hope he finds a way to fly again. A very sad story.
