  1. I was just talking to an avionics shop about this and they said the GI275 WILL drive a KAP150. You do have to watch the Garmin "compatibility" charts. Garmin says that a G3X is compatible with the KAP150, except they don't tell you it will only supply heading/course info. You still need to keep the King Attitude Indicator or install a GI275. A G5 will not work.
  2. Since all the components are normally made in refineries, it is just mixing things that are already available. So I suspect that economies of scale will be less pronounced. They can use the existing 100LL tanker trucks, or ANY tanker truck. The reason that 100LL needs special trucks is due to the lead contamination. It would take flushing and cleaning to use them for an unleaded fuel. ANY refinery can make G100UL. No separate processing or holding due to contamination with the lead. So some refineries that are not making 100LL can make G100UL. The margin on avgas is higher than auto gas. So a refinery can make and offer at a nice price to break into a market they are not currently into.
  3. MAD in the Navy means both the boom and the actual detector. My Dad flew ASW for about 14 years. From the TBM to AF to S-2.
  4. MAD detects the change in the magnetic field due to a mass of iron. The magnetic flux lines change. Like putting something iron/steel near your compass.
  5. Same here. I am working on being the first Mooney to run it with the STC.
  6. Open door to air out after you are done.
  7. Yeap. If the instructors don't know or remember, the student never learns.
  8. The saying is based that correlation, by itself, does not mean causation. It is one factor.
  9. The unit does not exhaust the combustion air into the hangar.
  10. George has that also. He just needs to tilt at that windmill.
  11. The only thing from preventing us from burning G100UL tomorrow is inertia. Any refinery should be able to produce it now. It is commonly made components that need to be mixed in the proper proportions. Not rocket science.
  12. NO, that would never happen. So, if you put up blinds there are warnings and attachments to keep kids from being strangled by the cords. Must be a big deal right? Prior to the warnings, hardware, and changes to blinds cords, about 6 children per year were killed in the US. Not exactly a common issue. BTW, more kids are killed by being backed over by their parents.
  13. DCS, Digital Combat Simulator. is a combat flight sim with some very well modeled aircraft. The basic sim is free, then you pay for additional aircraft and "accessories." You can add an well done aircraft carrier. Different battle scenarios. Does WWI through modern day. Some civilian aircraft. BTW, they do have an AH-64. Also Huey and Hind. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/helicopters/ And yes, there are companies that make Cyclic and Collective for flying helicopter sims. Complete with proper grips and buttons and switches.
  14. No, he is asking about brakes for the right seat.
  15. I don't know. A friend of mine did aerial mapping flying as a career for a LOT of years. He enjoyed it
  16. Actually they are the same engine as the S-3 Viking. So were designed, as you say, for low altitude and low fuel flow. I don't think they are used on any Gulfstreams, but they are used on a number of Regional Jets, as the CF-34. Interestingly, there are some uprated CF versions, that would be neat to pop on an A-10 and give it the ability maintain energy better when maneuvering.
  17. Yeah, many of my buddies did want that and got it. I never wanted that job. And am happy with my career.
  18. Looks like a MAD boom.
  19. Yes, the same amount of air per intake cycle. But a different amount of fuel do to the change in time of the intake cycle.
  20. The even bigger joke is that the F-35 can do CAS. The USAF says it can. But the ugly secret is that what the USAF did was redefine CAS. To the AF, and no one else, CAS is getting personnel and equipment to the battle area. Nope, that is not CAS.
  21. Agreed. As for ADD, with not separating kids by ability and teaching to the lowest level, you get a lot of kids who are bored in class.
  22. Are you really that jealous???
  23. Nope, not in my case.
  24. When you change the RPM you change the amount of air moving through the engine. More RPM, more air.
