1986 Mooney 252 w/Encore Mods N97NM
Rmfriday replied to William_Flood's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
I have imported a call lane from Canada 3 years ago(in the middle of COVID) that was a previous registered in the USA w a N number, it cost me about $200 extra…. I can see it costing a lot more if it never had a N numbers. If it previously had a N number it wouldn’t be a big deal. this plane has a N number right now, shouldn’t be much of a issue to bring it “home” -

i purchesed my Mooney from KCOS a few years ago, i was able to get hangar space from Five Star Avation for a few days. I dont rember what it cost but it wasnt crazy, -
This is a pretty cool feature I just learned about. it does however make my trips look really short on the big map……

I am looking for a mitchelle turn cooridnator, the small 2” (I think) one. Mine quit and I would like to get ahold of a 2” replacement that will get me a couple of months until all the pilots side instruments upgraded and laid out in a more usable configuration. please let me know if you have one you are willing to sell thanks

Alternator cuts out over 1500 rpm ???
Rmfriday replied to N177MC's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
need more details, is the field braker tripping? is there a over voltage event taking place? done any trouble shooting yet? The fact that it is working and then "failing" at 1500 rpms leads me to believe it is a overvoltage event that is causing the issue but someone much better at this then me will chime in. either way i would find the Power Plane trouble shooting guide and follow it to a T good luck and keep us updated on what you find -

Good electric scooters that will fit in a Mooney?
Rmfriday replied to oisiaa's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I also have a NIU KQi3 or maybe it is a 2? Either way if fits in my C but only with 2 people. It is a big scooter but it has decent range and it carry’s me and my wife around on it together. So in that regard one bigger scooter is better then trying to fit in 2 scooters… -
I ended up getting a “C” mount with both the SBs completed from Jerry Pressley. It is in good shape and went together nicely. have about 5 hours on it and everything is still good w the swap, also used new rubber mounts, I went with Lord mounts, they where a little more expensive but they are readily available.

I think there is a McCauley on eBay

Mount was not cracked but broken….. you can also see what 25 years does to the rubber mounts( new one in the middle)
-
Can anyone school me on the differences between the C and E/F tube steel engine mounts? I was looking through the parts manual after discovering a crack in my mount and noticed the c and e have different part numbers for not only the structural engine mount but the rubber mounts also have a different part number. does anyone know what the actual difference is or is the o vs io engine the driving factor?
-
Thanks for the replies Going to head to the airport later and meet w the A&P to see where it is cracked. Also contacted Alan Fox and he is checking to see if he has one.

430w or 175 in vintage Mooney?
Rmfriday replied to Rmfriday's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Thanks for all the input i think I am going to go with a 175, I just want to make sure everything is going to fit in a single stack. It will be tight but I think/hope it will all fit… mill post some pictures once I get started.. -
I’ll start of by clarifying that I am a lower time VFR pilot with the intention of eventually getting my instrument rating. my current panel is a KX-155 w glide slope, 196 comm, and 327 transponder. Most everything I do I via ForeFlight and the sentry. I am thinking I would like to get a decent navigator and possibly use my plane as my IFR trainer but I don’t think this is my “forever” plane and don’t want to double my investment into the panel. if I get a decent used 430w I could get rid of the 155 and free up some space in the stack and the 430 can legally “drive” by Brittian AccuTrack/Accuflight but I am putting in outdated equipment that support may be limited on. if I go with the 175 my panel will get a little crammed/busy with everything in single stack but it all should fit. A 175 is about the same as a used 430W but should be much newer tech and be supported for quite a while yet. The only real downfall is that I don’t think it can legally drive the Brittian. I am trying to find a solution that is both budget friendly and is something my A&P can do as I don’t want to have to go to a avionics shop for this go round, but definitely would if it where to be a more complete upgrade. anything thing I am missing in all this?
-
not sure but i did bid on it at salvage. It had a lot of nice equipment with it and a nice set of 201 yokes... To be honest i did assume the engine to be a core only but i also wasnt looking for a engine, i was after the other stuff.... i'm glad the engine is working out for you and hopefully it gives you many, many trouble free hours!!

You can reach out to Mitchell directly if it is a Mitchell tach, i did this last year and they where extremely helpful.
