  1. Very useful video!! Thank you!
  2. Oh duh, yes. It was $100 to diagnose the issue, which applies toward final cost of repair. In this case, it was the common capacitor leakage that damaged the power supply. $850 total damage which was reasonable compared to some other verbal estimates I had received. I’m more than happy with the level of service I received from Bevan Aviation.
  3. @LANCECASPER I’m not sure what you are asking.
  4. @WalterFark0 Thanks to fine people here in Mooneyspace who introduced me to @Jake@BevanAviation, I got my KX155 back and working in short order. I can’t say enough good things about them. Excellent communication, friendly service, fast turnaround. A kind gentleman from FB loaned me his KX155 during the repair and I also purchased a Garmin SL30 from him. Just waiting for my shop to make some time for that install and the current Nav/com1 will become a spare com 2. Thanks to all!
  5. @carusoam Absolutely! That is the plan. Aerocomfort is probably going to get my credit card number. But first I need to locate the yokes. Thanks to everyone for all their help. I love the Mooney community!
  6. @LANCECASPER Thank you for the heads up on BAS Parts Sales. I will reach out to them tomorrow. Also, I had forgotten about the eBay notifications as well, so that was va very useful reminder. Thank you!
  7. @carusoam @KSMooniac mentioned he had pilot side and I reached out. He was immensely helpful and recommended I try to find a pair together as finding copilot/pax side alone would likely be difficult. I called Chandler Aviation, and they were extremely helpful. Apparently the yoke upgrade kit from Mooney can still be ordered but it’s $6k!
  8. Looking to piece together parts to upgrade the yokes in my 63 C model. Need a pair of yokes with shafts, probably the bushings that go in the panel, and not sure what else. If you have a line on any of these parts, let me know. I’m ready!
  9. Where were you three months ago!!? I’m sure this will sell fast in today’s market. May I ask where you got the seats done? They look amazing and comfortable! Tim
  10. Okay, it looks like new yokes for my 63C made it to my upgrade list. @KSMooniac If you still have those yokes and shafts (or a line on some), I’m all ears (and fingers for the credit card number entry.)
  11. @NewM20CPIC I was trying to fly twice a month before buying the Mooney, but my club has been so busy that all the rentals were booked out three weeks in advance. It made it difficult to fly often as weather and 100hr inspections interfered as well. I had about 250 ish hours mostly in a 172 prior to buying the Mooney. I now have almost 40 hours in it in less than two months of ownership. Ownership definitely makes flying a lot more accessible.
  12. I envy you and your CIES sensors. Just another item on my want list.
  13. @NewM20CPIC I’m a little late to the party but congrats! I, too, started on a 172 and transitioned to my 1963 Mooney M20C which I purchased not long before you did! Enjoy the ride and I look forward to seeing lots of pictures! Tim
  14. @TSC1020 Take a look in theAvionics forum at the BK Aerocruz thread. Theyve been promising FAA certification is coming for the Mooney in a fee months, for years. It is like 30 pages of sadness for pilots and crickets from BK. If you have an older analog navcom like me, the G5s will not talk to them. You need either to upgrade to a digital navcom like an SL30 or GNC255 to go with the G5 or go GI-275.
  15. @Fly Boomer Over time, ferrous particles and contaminants embed themselves in the paint. Clay bar can remove a lot but a good decon with something like Iron X will dissolve ferrous and other contaminants deep in the paint. You can spray on, let it do its work, and then rinse off. To answer @TSC1020’s question, there are a variety of really good products out there. I like Adam’s Polishes products, but there are so many great products out there from Carpro-us.com and other places that you really can’t go wrong with a lot of it. Just research the pros and cons of each approach (like sealant vs wax vs ceramic coating). I’m in the process of prepping my C model for ceramics. It’s just so much more surface area than a car!
  16. Having come from the auto detailing world, the concept of paint correction, care and protection is the same. I would start with a good wash, chemical decontamination, claying (traditional bar or new mitt), correction with the least abrasive pad/compound that will do the job, and then a wax or sealant or even ceramic coat of your choice.
  17. Okay I kinda want this.
  18. @NotarPilot Oops! Yes, Million Air North at KLGB. I used to rent out of Aces High. Anyway, yes, do you know if Million Air North had a wait list and what their prices range for a T hangar for new tenants? I can’t seem to find any contact information for them. I am out that way from time to time as LB Aero is an A&P I use.
  19. As I understand it: $200ish for certified (legal) bulb. $45 for eBay mystery bulb.
  20. @Huitt3106 Do you know if Million Air North is still accepting prospective hangar tenants? That T hangar rate seems amazingly low even for 2019zzz
  21. As a new owner of my first airplane, a 1963 C model, and not a rich man, I am glad I bought a little less airplane than I can afford so I have some margin for upgrades and repairs that invariably pop up. One month into ownership, one of the KX155s bit the dust. I opted to upgrade to a Garmin SL30 and then overhaul the KX155 as a spare for NAV/COM2. If I was stretched thin I would have been stressing out.
  22. In June I will have one for sale for cheap…
  23. @hammdo Did you get some kind of extension for the temporary registration that is only good for 90 days or did they extend that?
  24. I recently purchased a used Garmin SL30 with tray to replace my NAV/COM1 but it is missing the backplate and connectors. Anyone here have a line on these or have them for sale? Thank you in advance.
