  1. i use the MH cannula over the bose headset. actually works really well
  2. Where do you get the seat rail clamp?
  3. Another one for the o2d2 system. Been using one for years. Excellent setup
  4. Triple digits into my J model panel… and the LHS was installed sort of as an afterthought. I had everything else purchased, and then thought, what the heck. We’re there anyways, and I have to say…. It’s probably my favorite piece of gear. 200 foot check landing gear call for one final check of the gear is awesome. Great aid for nighttime landings also. All in all, a great system.
  5. He does, but I should probably buy one for myself. Thank you
  6. Yes, he has all the “usual tools” for an annual, such a timing box, compression gauge etc. mainly just looking for tools that I will buy specific to my plane. Like the MLG rigging tool. I will pick up one of those electric screw drivers. thank you
  7. Hello, I have a 1990 J. I usually do service center annuals, but after my last one, the pickup was kind of a disaster. So, I’ve decided to do an owner assist with my local IA. He knows the airplane well, he helped me hang the 390 On it last year. I’m going to get my tools and consumables ordered now. so far here is what I have (I have a pretty complete tool set in my cabinet, so assume I have all the usual wrenches and torque wrenches etc), and pretty well stocked with the needed greases and lubricants. need a new tail weight ( will use the combination of tail weight and engine hoise for safety with the jacks. ordering gear tools (do I need the mains and nose?) oil filter oil Spark plug copper gaskets gasket for the oil screen gascolator service kit anything else I should have?
  8. They have their use in a J or an ovation, just like they do in a turbo. I don’t use them often for enroute descents, with the exception of I fly over a class C often that’s close to my home airport, and they occasionally keep my high. Few nights ago, they kept me at 12500 for a bit, but let me down sooner than they usually do, so no brakes needed. Where they are useful to me is coming into the airports I do that are surrounded by terrain. They are nice to deploy once I’m clear and let it come down rapidly. Usually have them stowed long before I’m at 1000 agl and am slowing down for the gear drop. Not a need, but nice to have.
  9. i like alot about the cabin. rear seat room in my J (i am 6ft2) would be better if a shrunk a few inches, lol. Someday soon I will be longing for the fuel burn relative to speed of my mooney while i have an engine guzzeling fuel on each wing... a quest for redundancy and room for Angel flights and my dogs.
  10. It’s an annual event
  11. I should have posted this on here before, and I never thought of it. Yesterday's fly in airshow at Joseph, OR was awesome.
  12. I'd be game for that.
  13. Well, I wasn't originally off that weekend, so.i had forgotten about it. Now, I am in fact off. Might have to check it out!
  14. Yep. Based just west of there. KCOE
  15. Ill take them if mike261 doesnt. Thank you
  16. what is your favorite luggage to travel with in your Mooney? I have a 1990 J and have been just using a duffel bag. the duffel finally wore out, and need to buy another travel bag. Usually 1-5 nights. I put it behing the backseat
  17. having owned and installed JPI and EI, and having sold a pile of both, they each have pros and cons. EI is a much better co to deal with, JPI installs easier, and i prefer the interface slightly. But if not cutting a new panel, the EI looks better, and is still a primary unit.
  18. message me. we sell both, and ive owned both. can speak about pros and cons of each. Bryan
  19. 1990 m20J. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong? To engage: Push brakes down, pull parking brake on. To disengage: push brakes again, push knob In. Problem: brakes drag still after parking brake is released. It's a pretty significant drag. Plane will still roll, but not easily. Only way to get it released is to really stand on the brakes with the parking brake engaged, and then push the knob in. Will bleeding the brakes improve the action? Or, is that down the wrong road? TIA, Bryan
  20. lots of time behind both. I like the ability to add alerts and such to the EIS. The JPI is a fine product also. if i wasnt cutting a panel, id stick with a round instrument.
  21. well, after many hours behind both... 750XI and IFDs, i can tell you the avidyne has a much better thought out operating system IMO. My Mooney has had both in it. PS, i work for Chase at Avionics source. happy to help with anything you need
  22. Thanks Skip, mine appears to be configured the same. something must be wrong with my connext data stream. Does your GTN list either GDU as an LRU? I noticed in the LRU tab on the GTN mine were listed as GDU620, both had a red X.
  23. ive looked and cant find the actual IM there.
  24. that mode show the active come freq. all looks fine. Ive been through the setup on both, and the g3x matches the IM. I wont be going back to my dealer if i can avoid it. It is a 500 mi flight. If i cant verify some 232 settings on my own, i probably should hang it up, lol.
  25. lots of places i fly have marginal reception while low, and sometimes the celings are such that you end up staying low. New years day i couldnt get any radar returns on ADS B coming through southwest montana. It was getting dark. Destination was home at Coeur D alene, Idaho. About 25 miles out of missoula it started to snow. ADS-B shows nothing. i change destination to missoula, and am finally able to pick up flight following 10 miles out of missoula, and am told of an area of moderate precip between me and missoula. ADS B finally loaded as i got into the missoula valley. Another place i fly, i cant get cell coverage on the ground. SO, i made the decision to get XM on my new avionics. Once i power the avionics, i can spend a few mins on the ground reviewing the WX for the return trip home and confirming it looks like what i thought it should. The GDL52r pushed the info to both the G3x units and my ipad. personally, i like XM weather and radio in the cockpit, but ADS B does do some thing better, such as turbulence layers. Bryan
