  1. Your panel looks amazing! I have been playing around with solidworks learning how to design the panel I want. Do you happen to have a file for this panel or did Hendricks do that in the background? Also between the left and middle is there a ramp down or how do the two panels fit together there? Erik
  2. Thanks for all the advice that was given. I ended up on an extended trip to San Diego in the plane so I have not had a chance to work on the flaps. I will be working with my mechanic to recoin the 3/16" ball when I return, as I agree, it really sounds like the problem spot. We had tried to recoin it at the time but I think we need to be a little more aggressive. I am excited to get home and to get the flaps working correctly!
  3. It was really nice to find this posting to try and trouble shoot the flap pump. I spent the better part of my day working on it with my mechanic yet made little improvement to the problem. I used the troubleshooting diagram from Nukemzzz and I believe we narrowed the problem down to the adjustment screw segment. The symptoms for mine are almost no adjustability on retract time. If we screw the adjustment screw in, it goes from a 4 second retract at best, directly to letting the flaps bleed up even with the selector down. My understanding is that it should lock up the flaps when tightened in, so that's clearly a problem. We have been having lots of trouble with the flaps bleeding up. The handle is staying where it is left and not returning up. On the previous attempts we got it to 4-4.5 pumps for fully down so I don't think it's a bleeding problem. I am honestly really stumped at what we should try next. Maybe sending it to Don Maxwell to bench test is the next best step. I didn't realize that was an option! For what it's worth mine had the #23 washer. I measured and it matched the specs provided here. It had a very little scoring but it does not seem to be a sealing surface. We tried it with and without, no noticeable difference was made. Happy for any suggestions you might have for me. I will take pictures if we pull it back apart another time tomorrow.
  4. I agree with 47U. The three blade props make a great speed brake. My F model came with the three blade Hartzell so I can’t speak to the McCauley, but I also appreciate that the three blade got rid of the standard RPM restrictions and replaced it with a more manageable one at 15” and below.
  5. Sounds like you have this taken care of for now, but my ‘67 F also has press fit zerks without check balls. Initially my A&P thought they were owner fabricated but after searching we believed them to be original to the plane.
  6. I received the 431-9R cap today and was able to test fit it. I am uploading photos in case it helps someone else. The pinkish cap is the 9R. The 9R cap fits the opening the same as the 9 caps. The biggest difference seems to be a bigger mechanical stop for counter rotation. Somewhat comically the tab on the 9R for my plane is oriented inboard about as far as the 431-9 had pointed outboard.
  7. The notches on my left and right tank are different as they align the fuel caps differently. Using the same cap the left is perfect and the right tab is angled towards the wing tip. That was what made me think it might be a 431-9/431-9R difference.
  8. Where did you find the Teflon washers on aircraft spruce? I liked the idea but I don’t see any sort washers aside from the nylon ones? Thanks!
  9. Hello Merrja, do you still have the ‘67 M20F manuals available ? If so I’d love a copy. My email is Lantispdx@gmail.com. Thank you!
  10. I got too curious and I ordered a 431-9R. I should have it in a few days and I can get this figured out. In looking at photos it seems to be rotated 20 degrees when compared to the 431-9. It’s pretty hard to tell without a physical example. Fingers crossed that it’s what I am thinking.
  11. I didn’t get a ship date estimate from them, just a confirmation that the order was received. I’ll let you know how long it took to get them once they are on their way.
  12. Mine are not yet installed. I actually have not yet received them from Amsafe, they just have been ordered. I will be having my local A&P install them once they get here.
  13. I have a Amsafe Soars kit on order for my M20F right now. I have read a lot about the install and it doesn’t sound too bad to install with some help from an A&P. I’ll make sure to try and document the process as I wish there were more resources to refer to! Certainty seems like a good idea to me tho!
  14. I am really curious what the difference between the 431-9 and 431-9R caps is if anyone has figured this out. My plane has two 431-9 caps currently. The left wing seems correct with the tab straight back, but the right wing cap is 20-30 degree rotated clockwise from being inline. The theory that a 431-9R might stand for right wing but that could also be a coincidence. I'd be really interested to know more about this. Has anyone found a 431-9 and 431-9R on the same plane and aligned correctly? Thanks! Erik
  15. Hello all, I am working through my PPL and (I believe) I am a few weeks away from qualifying for my check ride. So far all my training has been completed in a variety of C-172s but I am very interested in purchasing a Mooney after getting my certificate. My question for everyone is what avionics you would want to see in a Mooney to get your interested. Being new I have only been exposed to what the planes I have flown in have, I have not used auto-pilots, storm scopes, radars or lots of the other higher end avionics. The most technologically advanced item I have exposure to is a GTX-430 Things that I know I would like are Altitude/heading hold autopilot. WAAS gtx-430 or better. A transponder with ADS-B. VOR reciever (Or Dual even better) and DME. +Minimum equipment list And not technically avionics but I think speed brakes are high on my list as well. I understand that you can install new GPS, Autopilot, Speedbrakes etc after the purchase but it sounds like its generally a better idea to buy a plane with the setup you already want. If you have a strong opinion about that I would be interested to hear it as well! Thanks much! Erik
