Go ahead and eat that $100 hamburger, it ain’t gonna kill ya
RogueOne replied to Tony Starke's topic in General Mooney Talk
Carpe Diem eh Air Pirate? Life is a lot more enjoyable if you are not obese, out of breath, in pain and miserable. Rest assured “good food” as well as “good whiskey” is subjective I don’t deny my palate much. Finding a life balance can be learned at any point in the journey. Love to watch others dance. I dance like I did when I was 18 (like a mid 50’s Caucasian that is rhythm challenged). Still do it to the entertainment of all that witness “it”.- 24 replies

100% agree. I have always exercised. As you get older you must adjust your caloric intake because most don’t exercise like you are in your 20’s to 40’s when you are in your 50’s and 60’s. For me it was elimination of five foods to get the calories in vs. burned back in line. Subway is fast food. I eat the hell out of their salads now. Forces me to sit down and enjoy a meal. Winning.- 24 replies

Agree 100% with the “Or better...don’t have a heart-attack...” Eat better. Lose weight. Don’t have high blood pressure or need a statin. Side effects: FEEL better. Look better. Have more energy. Be able to easily switch tanks, put on laced shoes, lie on your stomach. Ache less. Enjoy a better quality of life. NOT rocket science. I am not dieting. I simply changed my eating habits. The Maxwell's home burned down yesterday.

I became a first time Granddad yesterday. My daughter delivered a wonderful little girl into the world. I plan to support her until the day I die and beyond both financially and with abounding love. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Love and compassion. Live it. -

I eliminated a few foods from my life after June 1st and have lost 30 pounds. Bread Beer (except when in Bavaria for two weeks) Chips Cereal Potato’s (in all forms) I didn’t eat much candy before or sugar in pop. The difference on joints and energy level is amazing. Not going back. Maybe a Pretzel bun once a week for a treat. You don’t miss it after awhile. Jack Daniels on the weekends with diet is A.O.K. With me.- 24 replies

If Turkey costs $2.00 and ham $3.00 how much do they both cost? $6 because chicken has no bones... Made about as much sense as your comment to me Clarence. -

Michael: Are you referring to my inquiry in your reply? If yes then I am sorry that this is your response to what I wrote. I would not take such money if donated to me in such an event. I would donate to those that are truly in need when such a catastrophic loss event occurs. I of course support any that wish to donate and support the Maxwells. I obviously offended some and to that I say Mea Culpa. If the Maxwell’s are uninsured or significantly underinsured for such a loss I and perhaps my employer would match such a donation. -
Congrats! Very nice.

No talking into needed lol...Already moving that direction. Yes the dimensions on the Air Gizmo are identical for the Aera and the existing 396. Just need to learn about the remote antenna for GDL 39 and power cable options for power on both. I was Using a plug into the cigarette lighter with a dual cable on 696/GDL 39 in other plane. Worked seamlessly.

Stuff, of course, can be replaced. The loss of furniture that was special because it was a gift from parents/in-laws that they had from a relative is of course NOT replaceable...Artwork, Holiday ornaments etc that are not replaceable as they were “special”. Those are the “stuff” I would regret when all family and pets are unharmed in such an event. A good reason to think/check extension cords/storage of flammable/combustibles and other potential ignition sources... These life “tests” can happen to us all. -
Request Insight into Upgrade Path and Value
RogueOne replied to RogueOne's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks Brad AND MLM20C. So I am definitely WANTING the 830 as I want MP/RPM/HP AND fuel flow. Maybe I will just do 830 upgrade and “try” to see if the Shadin will integrate with the 830? My thought is to move the strike finder up where the Shadin is and install the 830 in a vertical presentation where the strikefinder is now. There is some needed space (as there are no rocker/breaker switch’s below) that I think the 830 will need. I think the not panel flush would be getting to close to the gear down switch if I popped into existing Shadin spot. I have never used a Strike Finder BUT have used ADSB and before that XM weather for in flight ADM. I do not plan to use XM in the plane. If anyone else has combined the Shadin probes successfully with an EDM 830 regarding fuel totalizer I would love to just do upgrade (head) on 830. 10/1 there is a $300 rebate on 8/30 and I could just sell the 700 on Ebay and have all the probes including fuel flow. Decisions, decisions... Truth be told I love my G3, but placement is similar (in our E) to the Missile 700 position. The screen size is just to small and I would value the size/color of the 830 over the smaller 700.... -

Not trying to be harsh and just thinking of how I have prepared (Insurance) for such a tragedy. Why do people think they need financial assistance from such an event? Why is the response to provide financial assistance? -
PM sent Andy. Looking for a good education

Oh no! Glad all two and four-legged are O.K. -
Mine just sits on the glare shield. I feel so “un-fancy” now....

Request Insight into Upgrade Path and Value

I like the MP and RPM presentation of the 830. The 730 does not show that top presentation, but has rpm and MP with other extras listed in a text type non-graphic style. NOT a fan of that. Not a bad idea on buying the four cylinder cheapest, but we can get a trade in on the 700 vs. selling with the probes. Our 700 has oil pressure and the 730 comes with this included. Would be great if Shadin fuel info was compatible with the JPI. Doubting it is... I will get more info on the screens/differences and a la cart probe purchases vs. getting with the unit. From all the info it sounds like the strike finder DOES indeed have “real time” value so the totalizer will likely go. USB power port in the old 700 position is a really good idea I had not thought about. Nice to charge a pad or a phone on a longer trip. -

Thanks for input, but a 930 is not happening. -

No. Thanks for the suggestions. Good stuff there. Ya, the glare screen is WAY down the list. Doesn’t bother me a bit. -
We have a 700 legacy engine monitor. No interest in upgrading to 900 series. Question is: The 730 with trade-in is about 1200 with simple install. What is lost in doing this for a bigger more readable gauge vs. an 830? It appears you can do individual “upgrades” on the 730? Other question: What is real value of a strikefinder with ADSB weather? It is taking up panel space and I just don’t see the value? What am I missing? Another question: If I upgrade engine monitor and move to strike-finder location what would you put in the opening on far left of panel?

I really like the blue. It is beautiful. I am picking up what Byron is laying down on the side accents. Not my thing, but NOT my plane. Compared to my ‘66 original paint? You look marvelous! Enjoy.

Good God.

My plane “stumbles” everytime I do a “Big Pull” lean. There is an old thread with my fuel stick on it. The spiraling nightmare that followed is something I do not wish to relive again. Have fun everyone.

Missile update. Plane has come through annual and we have our 530 upgraded to 530w back from Garmin. 330es is also back and will be installed and programmed. Ready for our Check flight reviews. We are excited to fly behind our “new” Mooney. Details to follow.

The “old style”, while simple, simply works.
