  1. I am hanging there day and night with my camera
  2. Well, will see. There are at least 3 Mooneys here right now. More than any other make/model
  3. They seem to be very knowledgeable about Mooneys. Also I looked at some designs with straight lines across the body and they don't bend to the point it is noticeable when an airplane is trimmed. My bet is that they will trim it for the T/O while applying design I was also told that there will be minor design adjustments when they will lay it out. As someone mentioned Tony, their lead painter is doing a great job at laying out the scheme
  4. Just added the 3rd episode about design!
  5. @carusoam who is Alan?
  6. So far my experience is very positive. My videos delayed due to the fact that I have to process them but my airplane is already in the paint shop and I am finalizing design video.
  7. Folks, here is the second episode where I discuss what affects the price of a paint job with Brenda from Art-Craft Paint. She also shows me their facility.
  8. Hey folks. 2 years ago I acquired a 1966 Mooney M20E and since then everyone on this forum was very helpful while I was accumulating knowledge but I didn't really get a good chance to contribute. Last year was challenging and I didn't meet many pilots in person. Some of you might know my airplane paint is far from perfect and I knew I will have to address it the same day. I was told that I need to fix surface corrosion ASAP and many folks recommended me Art-Craft Paint in Santa Maria. I partnered with them to make a series of videos about airplane repaint. I will use this thread to share my videos and you can get to know me and my airplane: If you like the video and consider Art-Craft Paint for your paint needs please use this link to claim a discount: https://artcraftpaint.com
  9. John, aren’t you have dissimilar metals everywhere your airplane already (example: access panel screws, camlocks)?
  10. I am more of an electronic / software kind of guy. I never worked with metal and without proper tools ppl probably end up with something that will be not straight cut/bent. Also I am not sure it is aluminum, in my friend’s airplane it feels more like stainless steel
  11. What everyone uses for lubrication? Plastic parts of my vents stuck and don’t rotate
  12. I am looking for a P/N 340078-11 for my 1966 M20E. It is #35 on the picture
  13. Thanks Antony! He PMed me and I am already happy
  14. Is there a way to disable cutoff valve altogether so CFI or pilot in the right seat can control an airplane?
  15. I heard it is hard to replace it. Did anyone tried and have tips that will make the work easier?
  16. It’s way too bent for the filler. As for the paint - airplane goes to the paint shop soon anyways
  17. I want it and how much is the shipping? I sent you a PM
  18. Yep it is that one. I was in hope that I can just fix that with some rollers but probably easier just to get a new one
  19. I am away from my airplane for a while and can’t make a picture but is is part number 310117-501 (#17 on the pic). It is a thin piece of sheet metal between parts #15 and #16
  20. Folks I have a narrow piece of aluminum in between 2 avionics access panel covers and it is quite hilly due to previous repairs, maybe bolts were over tighten. Trying to figure out how to make it straight? Thinking of some sort of rollers but maybe there are better ideas?
  21. Thank you, Antony! My reasons: looks and fix water leaks. Also I am going to repaint an airplane soon so color to match is not a problem
  22. I am almost positive this scenario is what happened. He described the most plausible scenario 2 days after crash when he could read enough and did not say anything new. He could tell this to investigators at the scene and this would be in the news but looks like he just walked away just to post the comment 2 days later on the youtube? Just wanted to say that so far the only real evidence for us is the crappy video and chances of this comment on the youtube of being a red herring are very high. This is the beauty of the Internet: I can create a new account and comment that an airplane was flapping it’s wings and everyone will talk about this
  23. He heard the sound of a low flying airplane. Probably already as low as 1000-2000ft AGL. Based on speeds mentioned above he had 3-6 seconds to think: what’s this noise, then look up and (maybe he got lucky) to find and airplane in a relatively big sky (remember how hard it is to find traffic in the air when you scan for it?) and capture all the details about folding wings, abrupt controls, debris from the tail etc. Now add the speed of the sound into an account - an airplane was falling with 1/3 speed of the sound means 1/3 less time from the moment you hear it (2-4 seconds). My main point - we don’t have a reason to trust someone in the Internet. I am sure NTSB will speak with him and verify
  24. It was previously mentioned that an airplane lost 1000ft in 3 seconds, this is more like 1/3 of a speed of the sound. You hear airplanes flying far and not towards you normally but if you look at the videos of low passing airplanes in youtube you will see that you don’t hear the sound until it is too close
  25. Unless he decided to comment after he saw the video and not an eyewitness at all Disclaimer: my party says wings can’t fold between 2 frames
