  1. By hand effort - 30min per section Fawk rivets
  2. I have an original paint on my bird and it’s pretty oxidized at this point with a lot of scratches. Before I decided on re-painting I wanted to see what can be done to remove heavy oxidation and really see how many places I need to sand and re-paint vs full repaint. If I understand correctly it’s a single stage acrylic enamel and in a car world people recommend Mirror Glaze Show Car Glaze #7 as a gentle way to bring the shine back. I also heard good about Top Coat F11 that is a completely different product and is not removing oxidation but kind of sealing the surface. Anyone has their favorite techniques to restore an original paint? Polishing pads / abrasive compounds suggestions to not cut too much?
  3. These Rosen look great but only for 1968+ with top side mount. Thanks for the picture!
  4. Answering my own question regarding parts catalog but still need maintenance manual Mooney-m20E-1966-parts-catalog.pdf
  5. I am looking a parts catalog / maintenance manual for M20E 1966 (SN 1215). I checked download section - it doesn't have my year. Appreciate if someone can send these docs my way thanks!
  6. Do you know what kind of sun vizors N9278M had or maybe have more pictures? I own this airplane now and it doesn’t have sun visors
  7. Do Airpane Covers cover avionics panel?
  8. Wanted to do a follow up. I did oil changes every 20 hours now and metal in filter was slowly decreasing. During the last oil change my mechanic checked oil screen and found a good amount of metal there but this was not very useful because we don’t know when it was checked last time. Now My bird is having an annual and my mechanic just texted me that he didn't find metal in filter and in an oil screen this time!
  9. Just got another oil analysis results: Iron is now 36 (35 hours on oil). Iron was 22 (10 hours on oil) in December and 78 (35 hour on oil) in September. Since trend is positive (yet above normal) would you vote on pulling cylinders or fly more?
  10. I think I just need to decide who is doing the work so I am still looking for recommendations within West Coast area
  11. That’s what I get from them last time: CONSISTS OF ALLOY STEEL, MATCHING BOTH AMS# 6270/6271 AND AMS# 6414/6415, RANGING IN SIZE FROM 1197 X 522 TO 28 X 21 MICRONS not too much useful info
  12. Pieces you see are from the oil screen that was not checked who knows how long and they are also ferrous. Dry analysis results I posted are from my previous oil change when I collected metal dust from the filter and sent to AvLab
  13. That’s what I was thinking: working with a local mechanic. My mechanic is extremely busy these days and Corona Engines is even busier so I will have to wait about 2 months before someone will pull the cylinder(s)
  14. I am sure some oil came out and my mechanic would let me know if there are bigger particles so I think - no
  15. Dry analysis: ... CONSISTS OF ALLOY STEEL, MATCHING BOTH AMS# 6270/6271 AND AMS# 6414/6415, RANGING IN SIZE FROM 1197 X 522 TO 28 X 21 MICRONS. ... Does anyone knows where these metals used in IO-360-A1A?
  16. Update: That's what came out of the filter and screen 50 hours since my last oil change. What's interesting about this metal is that oil screen was not checked for a while so I am not sure how old these pieces are. However I think I need an advise on good A&Ps in Los Angeles area who can pull cylinders (and have time to fit me in their schedule) one by one and if that's a bearing material then I can get lucky but if not then work with me to split the engine and do IRAN (or help me find a reasonably priced shop that will overhaul the engine). My goal is to only replace what is necessary and reasonable to keep flying.
  17. I am running ROP. Do you think injectors can cause these jumps in numbers?
  18. Here it is on the way back: https://youtu.be/A8BLq0lTpKY
  19. Imagine you updated database and fix your fuel flow. The issue with gears would not go away just magically. You would still deal with the same issue in flight. We just have to be ready and fly our airplanes. Well, maybe we should not if you aim into an IMC, that’s too much to worry about
  20. I can post drivers when I am back home around Jan 1
  21. Yes, kind of similar behaviour
  22. Not sure how to read yours but if I understand correctly you have elevated EGT on #6 and #4 cylinders. If so then I have an opposite picture when one of the cylinders EGT is significantly lower than other 3 (and than that particular cylinder 5 hours ago)
  23. Had a blast long cross country flight from Burbank to Houston yesterday. For the last 3 hours I observed that #1 cyl EGT sporadically goes down. Like jumping between 1200-1300 in cruse every second while normally 1400. To me that sounds like a failing probe because otherwise engine is running smooth but I will appreciate any advise before I go on a 8 hours flight back. Engine is IO-360-A1A on a M20E
  24. Please post an update when you done.
