  1. I recently rented a C172 with a GFC-500 (and electric air conditioning to boot, key during these desert days) to get some practice approaches in and get familiarity with the system. It's an amazing piece of kit, sure makes it hard to go back to my single-axis KAP-100. Was planning to wait until my analog AI or AP craps out, but after that experience I may move up the timetable to replace what's left with a G3x and GFC-500. I wish the G3x was available before the investment in a GTN-750, but can't really complain too much.
  2. For what it's worth, I recently had my fuel servo O/H due to excessive richness in the mixture while at full rich. Fortunately it was not leaking like this one! It has made a big difference in terms of power and was definitely worth the money. Assuming the servo had been overhauled at the last MOH, it had about 1000 hours on it.
  3. It's happened to me, maybe 2-3 nm outside of the Delta. I was on a visual approach at the end of an IFR flight. Specific to your question, though, there was not an ILS at this particular airfield.
  4. Mine’s north of $300. Wonder why
  5. Don’t rub it in, way less than Arizona’s annual “registration” tax.
  6. I stuck one of those removable Command hooks on a panel blank and hung it on there. It's been there for over a year with no issues. Easy to remove if the plane is going in for maintenance or if I want to use the sensor elsewhere when I'm not flying the plane.
  7. I had an EDM-930 installed a little over a year ago. I kept my factory senders since they were working well. They did have to be calibrated by draining the tanks and refilling in (IIRC) two gallon increments. On the ground or in straight-and-level they are pretty darn accurate when compared against the totalizer which is dead-nuts on.
  8. Do you have a specific airport in mind?
  9. I ordered the Inspector. Only time it has gone off (luckily) I was on the ground upwind of a C152 doing a run up. Got up into the 40’s. It is normally zero in cruise.
  10. You’re not supposed to notice patterns
  11. If you’ve seen the inside of one of these things (and I’ve flown on the accident airplane twice) they are not much more complex than a J-3 or or even the Super Cub which I’ve flown as PIC. It is a very basic aircraft, cranked out by the tens of thousands in wartime. We’d be safer under our beds but I’m not staying there.
  12. I did a 930 when I did my panel, precisely to save the incremental bleeding due to dying factory gauges and sensors. I’m very happy with it. My factory fuel level senders were working fine so I drew the line there. They are accurate enough and the totalizer is dead nuts accurate. I know within a gallon how much is in each tank.
  13. I think it might be this forum with a member with a .sig quote something to the effect of, "An airplane is safe in the hangar, but that is not what airplanes are for." That pretty much sums up my feeling on it.
  14. Note that when you format, any data on the disk beforehand will be erased! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. tl;dr: is try reformatting the drive with FAT32 and an allocation unit size of 16k. I think it may have something to do with the blocksize the disk is formatted with. The one they provided with my EDM-930 is an 8GB drive formatted with FAT32 and an allocation unit size of 16k. I’ve tried various drives of various sizes larger and smaller and there didn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason why some were recognized for download and others weren’t. I had always intended to look up how the one they provided was formatted but hadn’t got around to bothering until I saw this thread. Let us know if that helps!
