  1. Ovation with Garmin 275 up grade cost, ready in about 2 weeks, installing GI 275 pfd/AP and GI275 hsi w/gmu-11, hsi, remove ki-256 and kcs-55a systems, adapter plate for gi275, relocating kt-74 transponder, connecting inputs to GTN 750 and inpute's to kfc auto pilot and navagators, remove old clock install mid cont. md93h clock/usb charging port high power, remove vacuum and standby vacuum systems, add bose aircraft power outlet. price about 16K, we were told more auto pilot updates in August.
  2. yep gfc 500, what else be available for hook up unknown
  3. GRAMIN 275 PLANS UPGRADE AUTO PILOT FUNCTION BY ADDING G500 auto pilot function SOME TIME IN AUGUST, NOT SURE WHAT ELSE will be added
  4. installing 2 Garmin 275's into Ovation, should be ready to fly in 3 weeks, looking forward to the Pixel generation and deleting the Vacuum generation, one of main items we will be looking at is how well the KFC 150 works with the Garmin 275, and how much weight difference there is before and after. Nest question is what auto pilot system to install, and how much. replace existing servos or change out servos.
  5. my bad, but not any more
  6. Garmin seems to tie the package together, icons, loading program still learning , did like jepperson approach chart, but garmin seems to be make the conversion as the way to go for me
  7. have used jepperson chart for years, for my avionics up grade, shop recommended Garmin data package over jepperson, the garmin gtn 750 is locked out of jepperson, if the want their package it about $1600 to unlock the unit and a 1k a year for their data package with approach charts. it seems they don't want small aircraft, Garmin data packages are about 2/3 the price, no unlocking charge for the same service. Looks like I will also be switching over from Jepperson to Garmin. This will include using Garmin pilot and leaving fore flight as it looks like data is easier to load and I hope its easier to use. Got to hand it to Boeing and their management staff
  8. aircraft has a kap 150, shop indicated there was no problem in getting the 275 units to talk to the auto pilot, also a vfr gps input to the 275 units in case the 750 unit went bad.
  9. made the choice on avionics up grade for the 99 ovation, we had planed to up grade the Garmin 480,mx 200 display( it hurts when Garmin say NO LONGER SUPPORTED,converting to a Garmin 750 display, and then decide to replace hsi/dg with Garmin 275 units and remove vacuum DUAL system. we had been on the waiting list for 4 months and air craft when in last week, up grade will take about 30 days. lots of choices out there, KI 300 was view as bad choice due to unit problems and they said they had had customers request removal of the KI300 after install due to unit problems.275 install cost about 16mu and added 3 weeks to the job. this is the 4 th. avionics upgrade in ten years, last one was a jp900, new panel, ADF and storm scope removal. only King units left are auto pilot, and 155 radio. other upgrades were new interior, 310 HP upgrade ( very happy about this one)), top prop conversion, and the dreaded cylinder replacement, it all started with a bad Moritz display, that after 4 repair attempts it got junked and replaced with a JPI 900. avionics shop had at least 10 planes under avionics work. now starts the learning curve on how use the new equipment and will it all work as planed. will send picture when done
  10. current sensor, figured it out when we removed moritz unit and installed jpi 900
  11. was ready to schedule work until response from installers mentioned problems with kki-300/310, new installs already having problems are 2 months old units, what a way to kill a great product.
  12. starting to plan upgrades the ovation starting with Garmin 750 to replace garmin 480/mx200, during the process looking to change out HSI to solid state. KI300/310 seemed perfect, the problem is confidence in the product by major avionics installers. Would prefer Garmin g5 units but interface problems prevent install. This is a example as to why B-King is loseing business
  13. we had the engine shut off when we tried to run at low idle speed, traced problem to fuel injection on IO 550, had unit rebuilt and problem with idle and leaning on the ground went away.
  14. thanks that gives me a place to start, air craft has removed the moritz gage panel and replaced with jpi 900 which now measures current, load shunt may be there but is not used, not sure could use a real schematic POH does not have info
  15. on the 99 ovation there are two 1 amp breakers in a separate section labeled plus amp and minus amp, both breakers are in a marked off segment in the upper right hand corner of the breaker panel, POH show a picture of breakers , that's says typical panel. section 7 under systems there is no picture or schematic show these breakers and their function. Does any have an ideal of what they do. No mention in POH and not show in POH schematic.
  16. on my 99 ovation panel in fuse section there are 1 amp fuses labeled amps - and a second breaker labeled amps +, air craft used to have moritz engine gauge which has since been removed and replaced with jpi 900. No effect on aircraft operation is noticed in either position. are there blank off rings available if fuses not needed.
  17. typical bk delays, if unit will work, it would nice if it was plug and play, or is that to much to hope for
  18. just saw an ad in AOPA mag that both units are now available, hard to believe, question is does the gyro KG102 package remain or can it be removed, vacuum system, would like to dump KI 265 -255 flight director and go glass in my ovation, how much work is required to install.
  19. full top prop conversion 03 setup and jpi 900 set up, not sure if its low pitch set up, but it climbs really great as compared to first set up
  20. had the same problem, on take off roll, would hit a flat spot on roll and then be ok, also found leaning engine on ground by 1/2 turn would cause engine to stall, had injector overhauled problem gone, then installed top prop conversion, part of change was fuel increase on take off, really moves now, great change. injector had about 1k hrs on unit before it was overhauled
  21. will be a mapa class, April Santa Maria, attended several times good info about Mooneys
  22. using the top prop stc Hartzell for f77498 acclaim type S thin blade, installing the JPI 900 we lost weight with the conversion and moritz was un repairable. Jpi will have to be readjusted and the prop is in the mail, some time in late January. trying to beat the usually year end cost increase. Ran a before test with the McCally at 11000 ' fuel flow 14.9gpm, 2470 rpm @ 3 degrees with 4 way ground speed avg. was 178.5. with AC equipped. would like to see results for $ spent. Looked at the carbon fiber props , decided on metal blades, but love the looks of the 4 blade( trophy prop vs one I can live with)). Cost was a big factor vs speed gained, and looking at my 1000 hr. prop wear helped make a choice. will be doing some test flights with the different Mods and how speed has changed. What is the best altitude/vs speed for the ovation for a test comparison
  23. Have ordered Hartzell top prop for 280 to 310 conversion, replacing a McCaully 3 blade prop, governor is a McCally set at 2550 , can this unit be reset for 2700 rpm , looks like fuel flow is to be reset at 25.6 to 27.3, engine instrument package has all ready been replaced with a JPI 900 which will have to be adjusted for conversion prop speed and fuel flow
  24. install jpi 900 in my ovation, AV company had a hell of time to get set of wing fuel levels to work correctly, replaced both indicators in one wing and every thing works, found out that jpi recommends replacement of fuel senders after the fact, cheaper to replace then trouble shoot
  25. m20 ovation with kap 150 auto pilot with intermitten altitude hold problem , set 9500 for example air will climb to 10000 and some times corrects, have to over ride to correct then systems works. trim control motor /clutch was just overhauled. Any ideals and repair shops in southern California that know these units, where does altitude control get signals from/ to auto pilot system
