  1. Thanks to @Marc_B for the docs. Looks like Envelope E has the schematics I'm looking for. They appear to be somewhat hard to read. I'll take your advice, and try to contact Mooney for better copies.
  2. If anybody has schematic 800350 K2 (both sheets) from the M20K Service and Maintenance Manual number 134 for a 1989 M20K 252, I would greatly appreciate a copy. The manual says they are located in the "envelopes at the back", but the copy I have didn't include the contents of the envelopes.

  4. Thanks, @PT20J. I frequently forget about eBay for aviation-related purchases. If I determine that the one I have will not record, it will get changed immediately. Used or upgraded is always an improvement over new.
  5. For @petemc no joy on the button and light. I hate to contemplate this, but I think I need to see what's behind the panel. For @kortopates I have looked upon the snazzy newer EDMs, but it will require some rearrangement of the panel.
  6. Thanks to all. I spoke with JPI this afternoon, and concluded that pulling the head out of the panel is likely to tell me more than I currently know. The support person also said that the earliest versions of the EDM-700 did not have internal memory for data capture. Film at 11.
  7. The jack in your panel (circled) looks like others I have seen, and I'm aware of the "magic box" that converts that to a USB port. It's entirely possible that the wire and connector hanging under the left side of the panel in the picture I attached has nothing to do with the EDM-700, but I didn't see anything else that looked like your jack. The "EDM" label on the top left of the panel is more suggestive, but hard to tell. I gave the "button" cap a little tug to see if it was hiding something, but it didn't yield. Might have to pay someone to open up the panel for a look.
  8. Hello All, I'm trying to walk through an armchair process to download flight data from an EDM-700 engine monitor. Some airplanes have a data port near the instrument, but I don’t see one here: I saw a wire dangling under the instrument panel near the pilot’s left knee with a connector at the end: The connector looks a little like a power plug for a laptop, but it's got a wart at the end that would prevent it from being plugged into a cylindrical jack. Any idea what this is? Is this wire used to download the data somehow? If so, how? Finally, I saw something labeled "EDM" high on the left side of the instrument panel, but it looks like just a button and an indicator light. Any idea what this is for? Does this button interact with the EDM-700 somehow? Thanks in advance for any help.

  10. Just reviewed some of the “for sale” postings, and they just say “speed brakes” — not “electric speed brakes”. Where do these ideas come from......
  11. Thanks @kortopates for the info. Somehow, I had the idea that the 252s (M20K 1986 and later) all started life with electric brakes.
  12. I guess I omitted some of my assumptions. As far as I can tell, all 252s came with electric speed brakes. Perhaps they were optional, but I don’t recall seeing a 252 without them. I have seen multiple Rocket conversions on 252s with vacuum brakes. Also, as far as I can tell, all 252s with the Rocket conversion have Jose’s tanks. Hence, it appears that there may have been some reason the electric brakes had to go, and were replaced with vacuum. I sent a message to Jose, but he seems to have been offline for a while.
  13. I have been searching for a 252 Rocket. There aren't many, but I have seen a few with vacuum speed brakes. Is it true that with Monroy tanks, the speed brakes in a 252 must be converted to vacuum? If so, why?

  17. Guess I should have defined "good" a little better. I did see one on eBay for a little over $700 (plus shipping). Everyone knows that eBay prices are always "good", right?

  19. If I'm counting correctly, four different posters have mentioned the Concorde RG-35RXC. Zero references to this number on the Concorde web site. Is it the RG-35AXC? Four identical typos?
  20. I know this is an ancient thread, but I found it while looking for differences between Ovations (1, 2, 3).   25. I know this thread is more than six months old but I'm learning as much as I can about the Mooney and when I look at photos of N252PB, it looks to me like it DOES have the "split Alternator Field Switch next to the Master". What am I missing here? Thanks!
