  1. It is. It’s to illuminate the fuel selector.
  2. My VCC works very very well. Mounted on a steel post and all
  3. @AZM20C check my reply to your original radio noise thread. Do you have any LEDs?
  4. Got any LED lights anywhere? The overhead light in my C was replaced with a drop in LED bulb. It’s bright white, so I never used it in flight. A while back I was up at Show Low. I had to return to the plane in the dark to get something out. I turned on the overhead and then just shut off the master when I was done. When we departed SOW a few days later, it was daylight. Radio (430w) was fine till I got past about Roosevelt and just over the NE practice area and then it got very staticky, showing RX pretty much constant. I could receive OK, my transmit was still loud and clear just like yours. Comm 2 (old narco) was just fine so I used that. The light was on the whole flight but I didn’t notice in the bright daylight. My next flight, the radio was fine. And was fine for a few months. At some point, i turned the light off, don’t know when. About 2 weeks ago I flew up to Williams. Radio was fine on the ground, but when I took off, the static started up again. I switched to comm 2 and everything was fine. I just chalked it up to something loose and figured I’d get it looked at now that it had happened twice. About halfway to Williams I noticed the overhead light was on. The previous flight we had landed at night and I had the light on to unload. I flipped it off without really thinking about it. Landed at Williams and when I left, I tried out comm1 again. It was fine. Then my brain kicked in and thought - what changed? And I remembered the light, so I flipped it on. Radio was fine still. Guess it wasn’t the light. Coming into DVT I remembered that the static only happened near PHX. Flippped the light on. Instant static and showing RX on the 430. Light off? Back to normal. long story short, check your electrical. Something in the plane is causing interference.
  5. I’m based at DVT, but ill come by sometime! No, I cannot reach the selector with the harness on. I just slip my shoulders out. I’m going to make myself one of those pvc arm extender things one of these days
  6. Where’d you take it so I don’t take mine there lol
  7. The ear yokes broke on my headset. Bose does not sell the parts, you have to send the whole set in for a $225 repair. Found a guy selling 3d printed replacements for under $50 delivered for a pair. They're great! I don't think you could break them without really trying. If I had other sets of X headsets, I'd replace all the yokes right now. If you're interested, email zack3dprints@gmail.com
  8. Ok they are rupert Industries. Here's some pics of the mounting back seats and front.
  9. They mount to the seat bottom not the back. When snugged down, you cannot move forward at all. I’ll see what I can grab photo wise of them later today.
  10. They mount to the bottom of the seat.
  11. She's never been in a GA aircraft, and today was her birthday, so i obliged! Just a short 1hr flight out of KFFZ up north and around some local lakes and mountains. She had a blast!
  12. I am going to wrap mine this year, at least a good part of it. I’m afraid to quote any kind of pricing right now, because I really don’t know how long it’s going to take. If I had to guess, it would be in the neighborhood of $5k
  13. Apparently they have one supplier to all of Canada. There’s some sort of contamination and all 100LL sales are being stopped, country-wide https://copanational.org/en/2018/02/15/avgas-supply-quarantined/
  14. You can see an eyelash under a wrap. Ask me how I know. I would think corrosion would be easy to see. Actually, let me take a pic of my shop truck. It has really bad rust under the wrap.
  15. If you need the new stirrups for the X, email zack3dprints AT gmail.com. $47 and he will send you new in your choice of color. Lifetime Warranty. They're WAY stronger than the Bose. I don't think I could break them if I wanted to. I'll put some pics up over the weekend. I was going to make a topic just for them, but just saw this post
  16. I insured mine enough to be able to replace it with a similar condition plane. If they scrap it if I have a prop strike, no big deal because I can buy substantially the same thing, prebuy and expenses included.
  17. Yes, it typically happens to me heading east.
  18. I've never asked for a descent. I've flown similar route several times (heading to KCRQ from Phoenix). If they haven't restricted my altitude, I just head down when I'm ready. Some controllers seem to want you to ask and some get testy when you do. Since I never really know, and I'm VFR, I stopped asking.
  19. Sure, but for how long? At what point do you disregard the instruction if you can't make contact with the controller? I'm not flying 300nm at 2000' if I can't get back with the Class C controller from who's airspace I departed. Once I'm out of their airspace, I'm not required to talk to them again. I would assume that the restriction ended at the boundary of their airspace and act accordingly. If I was inside their airspace and told "fly 220 degrees to such and such a point", which was still inside their airspace, I would resume own navigation after reaching that point since they gave no further instructions. They did not say "fly to such and such and hold".
  20. If I am given a hold, I also have to be given an expect further clearance time, correct? If I lose comms, I proceed at that time. Right?
  21. Speaking to the folks comparing to IFR flying. I’m an IR student. Getting close to check ride. Perhaps I don’t understand lost comm procedures. All clearances require a destination airport. If I am given instructions to fly to a certain point, but then comms are lost, it was my understanding that i continue to fly my clearance. If I lose comms and just hold forever at the fly to limit.... that seems like it would be a problem.
  22. I dug through the whole harness today. Near as I can tell, every connection is properly made. The only thing not connected is the marker beacon wiring. That should have no bearing on the DME display in the CDI.
  23. The instrument lights up bright, and yes there is voltage. It's not controlled by a rheostat, it just has on or off with the cabin lights.
  24. Well it’s a negative on that. That wiring seems to be connected properly. Now I gotta trace the rest and see if everything else is hooked up right
  25. I found one online. I think this page is the first place to look. I don’t recall that it illuminates at night and I wonder if the LED display is powered by the same connection.
