  1. Times must be getting longer. I was on for less than 3 months
  2. I forgot to post this pic. He let me try on the emergency oxygen mask. It's unbelievably less comfortable than I imagined. Like wearing a vise.
  3. I believe it. He was telling us it sounds really cool to fly to Moscow for a breakfast meeting then home the next morning, but it's not so cool as the pilot. You spend the whole time wherever you go recovering and trying to get ready for the next day. Not much time for sightseeing
  4. Took a couple friends up to KFLG to meet another friend. He flew in with a Gulfstream G550. He's the captain for a pretty large corporation. We spent the day climbing all over the thing learning all the systems. I spent a couple hours in the cockpit, he even let me start the APU and then fire up both engines. Man it was cool. The old C sure felt a lot smaller on the flight home. Also happy to say she performed quite well at 9100’ DA. We were at about 2400lbs gross and of by the 1000’ markers. Climbed out at 400fpm. Although the nice thing about KFLG is, if you're heading south, you only need to get about 10’ off the runway and the rest is downhill, haha.
  5. Don't know anything about it, just passing it along
  6. I’m in hangar row 10. Just east of the aero guard school parking area on the south side. Don’t have any recommendations for avionics, but just a hello from a fellow DVT Mooney pilot
  7. That’s glue. I pulled the carpet off and sent it to SCS as a pattern to have the carpets redone.
  8. Chino Aircraft Interiors. I don’t much use headrests, but I can tell you I could fall asleep in that seat now, lol. Which is why my wife really wanted them
  9. I have the same clock. We ran a wire from the battery.
  10. They were actually in very good shape cosmetically, but the foam was crap. It was like sitting on a church pew.
  11. I told N201MKturbo that my butt has never felt so good after 2.5 on the tach hahah. I didn't think my old seats were uncomfortable, until now.
  12. Got it done at chino aircraft interiors. I'm pleased as punch with how they turned out. The most comfortable flight I've ever had in my plane! Next up, new carpets. Just waiting on them from SCS.
  13. Yup. It’s almost never one thing. Someone once told me it’s the “Swiss cheese effect”. Stack up 5 slices of Swiss cheese and chances are you won’t be able to see all the way through because the holes won’t line up. But stack it just right... a hole all the way through.
  14. If I’m not mistaken, didn’t it turn out that the weight and balance had nothing to do with the crash of that Mooney?
  15. How so? 1300lb useful give or take. Roughly 850lbs of people. At most, 360lbs of fuel. That’s 1210lbs. Little to no baggage...
  16. I have the actual weights of the passengers and seating locations. I know about how much fuel was on board. What I don’t know is the loading envelope. One of the investigators on scene owns a 6 seat Comanche and if it was his plane, it would have been under gross and within the envelope. What he didn’t know (to be determined by the NTSB) was whether or not this was really a 6 seat Comanche. If someone just added the seats, it was almost assuredly out of balance. 6 seaters from the factory had to extend the prop out front quite a bit.
  17. One way trip... I’m picking up my plane after having some interior work done. Just thought I’d offer if anyone needed to make their way to Phoenix for anything
  18. I’ve had that video for a couple weeks. Had to swear not to post it. Knowing some other details (such as weights and seating locations of passengers, estimated fuel on board, etc) I remain unconvinced that they were overweight much, if at all. KSDL and where they were, I think they might have had a turbo or other engine failure and tried to turn to come back.
  19. The fact that they were poorly installed doesn’t change the way you wear them. I looked at my plane this afternoon and thought about having an inertial reel on the ceiling. Seems like a bad idea. Seems like you could whack your head on it a lot, in just getting in and out, and in turbulence. But, it’s certainly a personal choice. I don’t see the need for 4 points, they’re very restrictive and therefore would likely not be worn properly most of the time.
  20. If it cracks it cracks. It doesn’t do anything. And we had to balance the risk of cutting/nicking the actual structure of the plane vs having pretty cuts on non structural 032 aluminum.
  21. 4-5 AMU. We're adding headrests, custom perforated leather, and wrapping the yokes to match. I know I could get it cheaper somewhere else, but my wife is dead set on this place.
