Plane for sale that just had annual
air cooled dad replied to eman1200's topic in General Mooney Talk
My a/c was 6 months from annual. I still spent $6700 on a few things. Most important was the fuel spider. Overhauled one mag that wasn't documented as ever being done. Plus a few other items. Plane runs great and I trust her. -
I flew up there on Sunday. Smoke is thick near and east of the tfr's. Its vmc otherwise. It's clear just south of the mountains. A line from Rome to Athens is clear southbound. A line from Blue ridge to Asheville is pretty smoky. Enjoy the flight. Don't worry about hurting your plane. You may smell like a camp fire if you hit the thick smoke. Think of s'mores. Yum!!!!

I tried calling both phone numbers listed on their website this morning I'm looking for some parts Both lines appear disconnected. A quick google search and I found the news article I pasted below. http://www.wctrib.com/news/local/4032779-city-willmar-may-terminate-contract-airport-fixed-based-operator

Hartzell Prop Hub AD
air cooled dad replied to Ron McBride's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I just had my eci yesterday. Sensenich in Gainesville, GA. Prop shop said cracks are rare but they've seen two. I got a chance to look at the hub. It had a very obvious crack that could be easily seen. For such a rare event, why not just continue with the eci hub? $125 vs thousands... I've attached a pic of our hub. Jason -
Looking for the vacuum switch. Part number 22-1280. I was quoted almost $700 for this part. Yikes! Hangar elves can't fix my switch. It's toast. Anyone have a working switch collecting dust on a shelf? It's probably sitting next to a unicorn or dodo bird. Thanks Jason Ps Looks like this ... http://www.sigmatek.com/pages/prod_description/PD_ACC_vacswt.html

Windshield cleaning....
air cooled dad replied to flyhigh603's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I've used Pledge for years. Cleaned all the Beavers in our fleet at a previous job. Now that I have my own plane pledge still works for me. -
There's a storm a comin' (Hurricane Matthew)
air cooled dad replied to FloridaMan's topic in General Mooney Talk
My coworkers report lots of planes flipped over in Nassau. Controllers have to write clearances on paper. Computers are out. Big puddles everywhere. Slow going in the Bahamas... -
There's a storm a comin' (Hurricane Matthew)
air cooled dad replied to FloridaMan's topic in General Mooney Talk
So what's wrong with flying through a hurricane? Was I not supposed to do that? Lol. For the record. This was not in the Mooney! It was actually a really smooth flight. The last 3000 feet to touchdown at Jax was quite a ride though. Were actually flying the Mooney to Florida this weekend. Destin should have great weather! -
'75F based in LaGrange Ga. KLGC. Looking for a short flight or onsite to accomplish the eddy current inspection. I know about Sensenich at Gainesville. Heard there was a company that would travel to my hangar and do the inspection on site. Anyone have a local tech they recommend? Thank you, Jason

I'm a Canadian living in the states. Throw in a box of Smarties, some Timmy's and I'll buy you a new toque! Oh, and if no one else really wants your free stuff I'd love it eh!

Thanks Roy!! Looking forward to seeing what type of Mooney mistress you end up with. Good luck in your search. The day ended great. Kids bouncing in a dry bounce house. Lots of hangar talk. Maules, C-185's, Pacers...oh, and a Mooney!!! -

Chris, Thank you!! I'll be at the hangar/house next door to the one with the Stearman. All of my wife's family lives within 30 miles of you. If the weather turns sour I'm sure I'll be up there again soon. There's always my brother-in-laws Maule to play with. I really appreciate the parts offer. Jason -
I fly near the accident airport. The instructor flew out of the airport in my town. It's a busy flight school. The instructors and students are pretty good about position reports. Last week I was cruising around fat, dumb and happy when I heard one of the instructors from the accident flight school make a position report 10 miles north of my home airport. It was very close to my location so I checked out my traffic display. Yikes!! Losing fellow aviators is a tragedy. Be safe everyone!! Jason

Not sure about lots for sale. It never hurts to ask. I think my relatives plan on selling a few acres next to the runway one of these days. I'm flying up from Georgia Friday, weather permitting. I'll be parked on downwind lane. If the weather is bad I'll be parked at Greeneville. Feel free to take a look. Bounce house for the kids bday party by the hangar Saturday. Wife says she's probably been to your store. She's a Comstock Park native. -

I left in 99 for the mighty Brasilia at SkyWest. I probably pumped gas for you in Moses Lake. I worked at Columbia Pacific Aviation for awhile too. Small world!! When I left Airpac I was probably at my peak in instrument flying. At least I'm not an Airbus cripple yet. Lol. You were there with Skip, Chris, Paul and Jonathon Carpenter!! Oh, Terry too. What a great chief pilot!

I was there around 97-99. Flew the Seneca, Chieftan and the mighty Titan!!...Cessna 404.

Did you fly for Airpac???

What are these?? Two mystery doohickeys.
air cooled dad replied to air cooled dad's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
For the record I preflight the stall horn every flight. Yes, I hear the sound. The sound even works when I pull the throttle back. I fly with my family onboard. I preflight my plane like their lives depend on it, because they do. Unfortunately my "checkout" in the plane only consisted of the previous owner handing me the keys. Book study, calls to Mooney owning friends, and 15000 hours of experience helped me survive! (Insert sarcasm here) All criticism and knowledge is welcome! No pride and ego in my cockpit. I thought it was coming from the speaker above my head. Now thanks to all of you I know it comes from those little round Spiezo doohickeys next to the speaker. Thank you for all the responses. You are the Wikipedia of all things Mooney! Jason -

My passenger who asked about the doohickeys took this cool pic today. I like the clouds reflecting off the wing!!
