  1. I know, hind sight... Never call, always email to have documentation. The agent probably screwed up, but since it was a phone call, Aerostar can just ignore that it ever happened.
  2. They actually ask you to upload your policy (at least they did in the Beta). So, in theory, they are comparing apples for apples.
  3. If they had give me the Basic version with the DB subscription I probably would have gone to Pilot vs FF AND I would have paid for the upgrade.
  4. I get that this was a bigger plane with a Tow Bar that is not stowed in the plane like the Mooney. But.... Rule# 1: Tow Bar NEVER leaves your hand from the time it comes out of the baggage compartment until the time it is put away. Rule# 2: See Rule #1 Rule# 3: Okay... Sometimes it can be uses as a temporary Chock when you're fueling. But it still NEVER stays unattended in the Tow Bar hole in the gear. And an EXCELLENT landing by the pilot. Held that nose up until the very end of the elevator control!!!
  5. You should be getting instructions from the SWAT and/or Continental. And as @201Steve said, it's pretty straight forward. Looks like you're down low vs up in the mountains which is good. My initial flights were right above the Airport, just in case. Then my mechanic had me flying low along the coast. Basically as low as I was willing to go with a new engine. I know there were specifics about cylinder temps, etc., but again, it was pretty straight forward.
  6. I've never heard of an Airport that charges landing fees to not charge the landing fees if you do a T&G. Wheels touch the ground you pay the fee. The other stuff is all about ADS-B not being corrected for the current Altimeter and they show you were at 0 ft AGL (or maybe even below the Apt elevation ) So that's were you have to make sure the actual Client is aware so they can get on Vectors case. Or avoid the airport all together.
  7. That's why I suggested when people email in to get a credit they also CC Vector's client. Be it a City, County or State Board, office or whatever. None of us are going to make Vectors change their business model if the people paying them are not aware of an issue or think the issue is minor/occasional. Why would they ask Vector to make a change if they think all is basically good? If they start seeing an uptick in complaints, in theory, they are going to ask what's going on. Or at least at the next board meeting when tenants or users of the airport start complaining, they can't say they didn't know anything about it. And I really don't fault Vector for coming up with a better solution than what most airports were doing before. Yes, at the moment the early version has obvious flaws, but those flaws can be addressed. And if it saves the airports money and simplifies the process, then they are less likely to raise the fees again for a while. But if they were doing it the old fashion way with Staff, those costs are sky rocketing. And I don't know where you fly, but airport fees are NOT new. All across the country I've stopped at airports that have fees. Usually a few bucks, sometimes more, but being told there is a fee hasn't been a shock for a few decades. Up until recently, most have been waved if you buy fuel, but there are more an more larger airports that are not waving the fee. So getting on those airports for the fees in the first place is more of an issue in my opinion.
  8. Not sure where you're going with all that. Even though it may be an error in their tracking, they DO think you owe them money. Some guy overseas isn't pulling N# off the registry and mailing them out. It's a pretty simple process and the issue is the computer thinks you landed. No more, no less.
  9. Yes, I agree it shouldn't be... But you still have the bill floating around out there if you don't do anything about it. And I get that they they send out erroneous bills, but it still has your name on it. So the Ostridge option isn't the best one. So if you're going to shoot off an email to get it cleared up, why not add a CC to those at the airport that actually have some power over Vector. If we complain about a bill, hopefully they credit the account. If their client starts asking them about all these bogus bills, they may do a little investment to cut down on the errors and keep their clients happy.
  10. Well, the burden will always be on you since they think you owe. Now if it is an occasional error, fine. But if it can be proven that they have frequent incorrect charges going out and it is costing individuals a lot of time, can we bill them for our time? Any Attorneys here that want to (unofficially and not giving legal advice) want to weigh in with their opinion? If they can bill me *just*because* can't I do the same if I actually used billable time to deal with the bad invoice??? ADDED: And I know Vector or someone like them, with the current and future technology, will always be around. It makes good business sense for Airports that do charge landing fees. And even with the efforts in court to stop the use of ADS-B, the cat's out of the bat. And I'm also guessing most of their clients already charged landing fees.
  11. The airport is owned by the Port of Port Angeles. So as @dkkim73 suggested, you could fire off a politely worded "are you aware of the issues with your vendor" type letter. There are also email links on their website for the Port Commission members. You could also try submitting a bill for your time. You never know.

  13. I a little gray on this now. But no, typically just the bottle goes in. I'm not sure he didn't think it needed to go in due to a time limit for inspection. And although I was shocked at the first quote, I couldn't remember when the last time it was checked. So probably not a bad thing to do. And if you're talking about "using" the shop and you have O2 questions... Does this mean you found a plane???? (Side note on the 3/2 meeting, I'll be back in NYC. So I'll probably hit you up when I get back for a quick overview. Think the Skyway will be open again by then??? )
  14. Probably not since she knows not only how to fly a plane, but your plane from the Right Seat. I think her Flight Training surpasses the Right Seat "familiarization" course. The AOPA Right Seater program my wife took many years ago got her familiar with flying a plane from the right seat and learned from a CFI. I was actually taking the IFR seminar at the same time and the winds were howling. At the end of the day, her CFI told me he would have signed her off to solo after the flying she did that day.
  15. Sure, I'd rather use FF with the full Airport Diagram. But if both your iPads happen to die and that's all you have, it is better than just the round barbed Airport symbol from the Nav map. And you can zoom in and out all you want, what I showed was just an example.
  16. It just gives you more detail if you zoom all the way in. Sort of like FF switching automatically to the Terminal Chart when you zoom in if there is on. Here's a screen grab from the GNC355 Trainer.
  17. I thought you had to subscribe to Pilot separately, not as part of a DB subscription. I do know they give you a free Upgrade if you have the Basic version.
  18. I have an Aspen Pro Max w/ EA100 and a KFC200. Works great. And KI275??? Maybe KI256? And you may have to keep it or look at another Aspen 500 or some other AI for backup. I went with the GI275 as my backup. In VMC it sits on the Traffic screen and in IMC I leave it on the primary ADI page.
  19. Had this issue years ago. Have the probe tested to see if it needs to be replaced. If it is good, calibrate, or rebuild, whichever gauge is off. (Or both of them if needed.) My EDM 700 was actually the correct gauge. The old original gauge was the one that was failing.
  20. Gotta love it!!!! I moved from NYC to WA state recently. WA has a gas tax that was suppose to... well, not sure what it was supposed to do... but it was to help with the environment. AND!!! The fuel companies were going to pay for it!!! Do I even need to tell you about the extra cost we're all paying at the pump. Of Course the companies are going to absorb the cost of the tax! But luckily I live close to the ID boarder. Costco gas was $2.79ish the other day when I was in Coeur d'Alene.
  21. Airpark as in a limited number of plane? 10 or 20? My guess/hope is that you never would. Any news or print article I've ever seen regarding this (and it's been a while since I've seen one) were all metro areas. So a LOT more traffic, fuel exhaust and a LOT more busy bees trying to make a statement. I'm actually not opposed to the concern as it is a known issue. But the bigger question is which came first, the airport or the school. I'd be all over the City/Co to move the school since they put it in a dangerous place. But that's not going to happen any time soon.

  23. @N201MKTurbo @FlyingDude Okay, I'll have to dig up the schematic. For some reason I thought those gauges did have a ground, but makes more sense that it doesn't.
