What else have you got in the stack?
-
Sorry sold. Updated.

No, from what I can see a probe and sensor kit adds about $1-2k? From what I am seeing, a 275 EIS costs somewhere between an EDM900 and 930. Aerodon

I have a new GI-275 Engine Indicating System that would be nice for a Mooney. Included is the basic system and a 4 or 6 cylinder EGT/CHT harness. I can help with compatible probes and making up additional wiring harnesses. The Garmin STC allows a variety of compatible probes, so if you already have a JPI with fuel flow, there are some savings to be had. Aerodon

ADS-B for 1984 M20J with original equipment
Aerodon replied to Beard's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Beard, UAT solutions (GDL82 etc.) do not work well in Canada. 1090Mhz systems do - good flight tracking etc. GTX335 / 345 etc. Post a picture of your panel - my recommendation would be look at what is already installed and space available. You need a WAAS GPS position for an ADSB transponder. Or a Txpdr with a GPS, that leads to another GPS antenna and the costs associated with it. A GTX345 can get altitude form numerous sources, easiest is to install a GAE12, even if it is a second encoder. You might need to keep your encoder for a KFC150 autopilot? Aerodon -
Jackson Jet center is nice, but ask them where to go park and do it yourself if you don't like being towed. Aerodon

RAM AIR DOOR CABLE ATTACHMENT - HARDWARE ?
Aerodon replied to DCarlton's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
macfarlane have some neat bolts for attaching wire pulls. Aerodon -
Looking at my numbers (and the chart that I drew), the first 'turning point' is at about 10G, this is when the feel fills the wedge at the bottom. The second is at about 25G, this is when the inboard rib is filled to the top. There is a bit of a turning point at 42G, I'm not sure why. On a standard tank, the wedge at the top is never really filled because of the filler neck. But with the Monroy tank, it is filled to the top at the old filler location and near the top at the new location. I will go measure how far away the float is from th outboard side later today. Aerodon
-
It's not that the Monroy 'side' is empty, it's that the overall level of all tanks is starting to drop below the highest physical level the float in the tank can go. The tank has two floats, one on inboard side that will measure down the bottom, the one on the outboard side measure up to the top. Now Monroe moves the tank further outboard and the float cannot reach the top.

Pinecone, Somewhere someone posted his accurate filling details. I plotted the results and as expected found that it is definitely non linear - from empty until the bottom is filled, then until the inside rib is filled, then to the top. I worked out some really good quantities to enter into my JPI for maximum accuracy. The idea is to choose calibration points with good linearity between them. IIRC, the JPI allows 5 calibration points, so I have chosen 0,10,25,42.5,52.5 for mine. Have not done it yet. Aerodon

I'm not using this anymore, but it is still quite a useful device. I have a 'bare wire' cable to wire into your airplane power, or I might be able to find the cigar lighter power cable. No battery. I have a couple of extra kits (new), also a 1/2A CB if you need one. Aerodon

M20K Gear Overide Switch P/N : SB1DDX492-2
Aerodon replied to Australian M20K Owner's topic in General Mooney Talk
-
I just did this 172 with a belt sander / rotary disk sander. there were some residual lines on the inside that I could use as a 'final' target, but just sand / check / sand until you are done. I also managed to use the front drum of the sanding belt to grind away the perimeter of the hobbs rectangle. The round holes were good from the factory. Aerodon

I have several, including one with the wiring harness still attached for a quick replacement. Aerodon -
Such a nice plane, put LED's on now.

Recommendations for International Payments
Aerodon replied to CCAS's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Paypal. And if you are comfortable with the seller, use the 'no-protection option'. If not, use the protection and suck up the fees, the buyer is getting the protection. Side rant, it amazes me how some people get hung up on small charges in shipping, PayPal fees etc. when buying a nice new or used component typically at a bargain price. Just look at the total and decide if its a deal you want to do or not. Aerodon -
You need to look up the gami test to get the gami spread - the difference in fuel flow between the first and last cylinder to peak. I think the target is 0.5 GPH, but it may be less. The MB/SB engines should be good out the box, but Gami can help you refine them. Don

Gear warning CB pops during gear actuation
Aerodon replied to Thedude's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
In the M20K, the gear warning CB also powers the gear unsafe horn through the throttle switch. And there are diodes in the wires near the sonalart. Diodes hurt my head. I would look at what is not working and start there: 1) gear unsafe annunciator 2) gear down light 3) gear unsafe horn - via up limit switch 4) gear unsafe via throttle limit switch. I would start with the gear unsafe light, it easiest to access. You are looking for a short to ground. Aerodon -
For those of us that want to go above 18,000, I have too many Aerox oxygen masks with microphones. I don't think some of them have ever been used (who takes passengers that high?) ACS has them for $650, I can do $300. I also have repayment 'oxysaver' canulas and associated flow gauges, connectors etc. Let me know what O2 system you have and I can see if I have the right connectors. Aerodon

Can you replace a KX-155 with a KX-165?
Aerodon replied to MikeOH's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I'm looking at the KX155/165 IM. If it is wire for a KX155 with glideslope, I am not seeing any extra wiring. The composite output and G/S wires should already go to the KI209. If you install a KI206, then yes, the composite output loops back to the other connecter, and a new set of wires to the KI206. I'm thinking it will work without modification Don -
MT Propeller bragged about this too, but it turns out that their props are infinitely repairable as long as you bring infinite amounts of money to completely replace anything that might look like it is thinking of wearing out. Aerodon

Can you replace a KX-155 with a KX-165?
Aerodon replied to MikeOH's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I think you are referring to the 'radial indicator' feature. The KX 155 needs an indicator like a KI209 that has the internal decoder. The KX165 has this decoder in the radio, and needs an indicator like a KI206. Last time I looked, I think you can slide a KX165 into a 155 position and it will work. But not the other way around. Hoot, I have several EDM700's that I have taken in trade on newer systems. If you are on a budget, an EDM700 with fuel flow is still a fine instrument. It does not take up much panel space, you can add quite a few different transducers and there is a future upgrade path to an EDM830 or EDM900. Aerodon

i do have it and it is the correct part number
