  6. Very nice. I enjoy your videos very much.
  7. I agree that the King course is best for test prep. I have both and just use the Sporty's videos to help me fall asleep.
  8. Yes Marauder, that's the one!
  9. I'm going through refurb right now. So far I've done an extensive Lasar annual with 12.5K in fixes, added Aspen PFD, EA-100, GDL-88, GTN-750, battery backed AI, LED landing light. Next comes new paint and new interior. Once complete I'll be in it for around $160,000. The engine is strong at 900 hrs but assume a new engine and prop and I'm around $210,000. My guess from lurking aournd this forum is that most Money pilots are either 1) cheap 2) take pride in customizing their planes 3) cheap and like to customize their planes. They are more likely to take on a refurb themselves than pay a premium for having it done turnkey. My guess is that new (plastic planes) appeal more to a different pilot demographic. Just seems like a tough sell. The companies I've read about who are doing this sort of thing are tarketing the training market or alternative fuel.
  10. Mike, just want to say I'm a fan of your videos. The trips you take in your 201 inspire me to widen my horizons. Thanks for sharing your love of flight.
  11. You're not that far from LASAR. They did my 1st annual on N1162G. They are very detailed to say the least. Gave me peace of mind. They also allow owner assist. Location: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.037528,-122.924677,14z Website: http://www.lasar.com
  12. Let's face it, avionics are obscenely expensive. But once you've flown with the GTN-750 / GDL-88 combo, there's no going back! Now I'm getting an Aspen PFD installed at the end of the month. This is becoming an obsession...
  13. Buy the airframe & engine then start making it your own by updating to meet your needs. Never look at it as an investment you'll get a return on. Look at it as a love affair with a high maintenance woman who you can't live without. My high maintenance woman just cost me about $40,000 to upgrade the panel. Now she want's paint and interior. What can I do...can't live without her. When I'm done I'll be in it around $145,000. The way I look at it, what could I buy new for $145,000 that could match what my updated J can do for me? Look at it that way and it's a bargain.
  14. Here's the brochure for the new M10 models.
  15. Amazing difference. Nice job.
  16. Got my panel upgraded with a GTN-750 and GDL-88 ADS-B. I'm amamzed at the utility this combo provides. Flew my usual route from 36U to KIDA last week. My route takes me through some pretty desolate country. I was amazed at all the targets that showed up on the 750. I guess I'm not alone out there in the Wyoming & Utah scrub after all. Did'nt pay any attention to my poor iPad which is now relegated to my flight bag along with my hand-held radio. Here's the panel upgrade: I'm very happy with the avionics shop who did the work for me, Flight-Deck Avionics out of KSLC. Very perfessional, decent pricing and quick turn-around. No sqwaks so far. As a result of this upgrade I have a Garmin GPSmap 396 with an Air Gizmos panel mount for sale. It was working well when I took it out of the plane. If you're interested send me an offer.
  17. Wow, looking at your photos I get even more inspired to make my 201 the best it can be.
  18. Here you go -> Speed Mods
  19. You bet, I'll send a photo your way. We've been enjoying It as much as we can. I always wish I had more time to fly. I plan on starting my IR training as soon as we get the plane back from the shop. She sure is a pleasure to take on trips. Last trip was to Mccall Idaho, the gateway to Idaho back country. 62G turned an 8 hour drive into a 2:30 hour insanely beautiful flight. I took out the back seats so my wife has more room for luggage, she loves that feature. I have plans on replacing the interior this winter and paint in the spring. I've added an LED landing light, sheep skin seat covers and a travel cover for trips. Oh, I also ordered the flightstream today. BTW, the fellow you bought the plane from in Florida contacted me. He was interested in buying her back. I guess he has sellers remorse after all this time.
  20. Wakeup, since you already have the Stratus 2, a GDL-39 won't give you any extra benefit.
  21. Yes, I'm getting a GTN-750 and GDL-88 installed next week. I know I'd be disappointed if I didn't just go ahead and add the Flightstream. It will be nice to be able to flight plan on the iPad and magically move it over to the 750. Got to love technology!
  22. I'm upgrading my avionics and installing Garmin Flightstream so I no longer need the GDL-39 3D. It's the DC version and includes remote GPS and ADS antennas. Less than 1 year old, very good condition. $500 firm. Amazon New
  23. Brett, 62G is getting a GNS-750 and GDL-88 installed next week. I'll have to take a close look at flightstream since I already use Garmin Pilot.
  24. Congrats Mike, she's a beauty!
  25. Just flew back from Mccall Idaho today in my J. 9500 feet, 2500 rpm, wot, 152 Kts true, 17.5 kmpg lop! After I landed I was struck with appreciation for this little airplane and the freedom it gives us to explore our marvelous country. If you ever get a chance to visit Mccall Idaho it's well worth it. Try the Shore Lodge for great food and hospitality. BTW, had to clean frost off the wings this morning.
