  1. My lights seem to be very accurate. I don't rely on them obviously. Per the manual they come on around 7-8 gallons, which seems about right to what the fuel gauges say. My stock gauges also seem very accurate as well. I have run down to 2 gallons on the digital readout and then got nervous and switched tanks.
  2. There are other threads on this. Basically gets replaced with an omegadyne part based on a mooney service bullet. Relatively pain free. I replaced mine based on info found here. Send me a PM with email and I will send you the info I have.
  3. There used to be a guy on here who was pretty highly regarded.....unfortunately the name completely escapes me at the moment. Based in Arkansas which is nearby to me. Remember we have all the stupid tariffs which I think affect this.
  4. Was at oshkosh(don’t know why it took me 40 years to attend again) stopped by surefly booth to take advantage of 10% off and get some basic installation questions. Was asked about what tach I had and I told him I had 2, the ship moritz gauge and a new E.I. Tach to legally read 2700 rpm. This seemed to throw the sales guy a loop. I am sure this has been done before as it isn’t an uncommon installation. I would like both gauges to stay working….has anybody experienced this installation before? I will call their tech dept Monday but wanted to halfway educate myself.
  5. Or boat anchors. I remember using one 40 years ago and thought it was the cats meow....beat using paper and plotter.
  6. I am flying into Madison WI Sunday, spending night at friends house and driving up Monday morning. Staying in the dorms, couldn't see spending $600/night for a Hotel 6 equivalent. Haven't been for 40 years. Been meaning to go every year for last 15....don't know what happened to the time.
  7. I had a 430W screen repaired by them. No issues. He can also repair the buttons if they aren't working. I have another 430W will need to be repaired as well, will be sending it in.
  8. I just had one replaced, that price seems about right. My buddy had to have one replaced as well, he may or may not have used the experimental version.
  9. Recently imstalled new carpet and am attempting to get the floor mats installed and secured.... Instructions and guidance non existent. I get the supplied clamps hold onto the floor mat and then the pointy end sticks into carpet. This whole thing is loosy goosey, i.e. too much movement. I guess i dont like it, but dont see how how else it is supposed to work? Anyone else done this? Am i missing something obvious?
  10. My friend has an ovation Eagle, I have an ovation from same time frame, 2000. His is unpainted and mine is painted. Unaware of materials on either one. Not a terribly helpful post. and corrected for the difference if anybody cares, his is unpainted and mine IS painted
  11. was wondering the same thing....I just see flaky paint...... I am just an internet expert.....
  12. Of course they say every 2 years….regardless of fluid pumped through it. Like my new refrigerator, not but 3 months into ownership the damn computer is telling me I need a new one at $55/ea. That annualizes out to $220 year for filters…..absolute BS.
  13. Are they custom making this or buying a commercially available part and putting a new sticker on it and marking it up 1000%?
  14. This is the right hand exhaust manifold, the 90 degree turn heads directly into muffler. I don't know how they bend these, but I suspect this is where the material is thinner as it was stretched on the outside radius. I bend tube and we get wrinkles, our parts are no structural, non cosmetic so we don't worry about it. My question as just curiosity more than anything. A64pilot just provided some more data points.
  15. So when I bought my Ovation 9 years ago from a gentleman in Canada, it had a fresh inspection, brought it down to the US for yet another inspection and DER signoff. No major issues. Approximately 4 months into ownership, brought to my local mechanic to show me how to change oil on an IO-550, during the oil change, he looked over the whole engine and found the left exhaust manifold was worn through, pulled it off and was inspecting the muffler and I guess the screens inside were loose, sent them off for repair. (details are foggy, going on memory as I haven't dug up paperwork yet). Little bit irked went through 2 annual inspections in 2 months and no exhaust damage was notated, but that is in the past. Here I am at annual and we find the right manifold worn through, dutifully pull it off for repair and we peek inside the muffler and the screens are clearly all out of whack, should have taken a picture, but I didn't. Attached is picture of exhaust manifold, thinking it is 25 years old. Again will check the logbooks. My question is....what is life of a muffler? I have had backfires vary rarely on some conditions where I can't see what I did to cause but I am guessing it caused the damage? Or are these things just fragile?
