  1. Thanks for reincarnating the joke thread. My wife even missed it. Keep it going!
  2. I had the #2 comm (KX 155) do the same thing, but at about 6500'. I can't remember exactly what gave way, but I sent it to Bevan Rabell in Wichita and they sent it back completely refurbished for a reasonable cost.
  3. I had good luck getting one refurbished through Bevan Rabell. I'm about to ship the other one to them.
  4. Is this your way of bragging that you're only 20 minutes from your plane? So lucky!
  5. Please let us know what you find. I have not been able to troubleshoot my lighting issue. This thread has at least given me a place to start!
  6. Has the scrapping commenced? I'm in need of a door arm assembly hold open. Thanks.
  7. I DO like the graphics. I'll see if I can get that plan.
  8. GX-55 GPS and a KDR 610 XM weather receiver. I'd like to get rid of the satellite subscription.
  9. I did a search to see if anyone has been able to tie-in a GTX 345 to an existing MFD. My search found no topics that included "KMD 850". I can't be the only Mooney owner with one of these, can I? Anyhow, I thought it would be nice to be able to use my current MFD with the GTX 345 - maybe save some money. I will ask my avionics shop, but I wanted to be prepared to counter the "no" should there be a solution. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
  10. I could use the door linkage, if it's available.
  11. This happened to me yesterday, but as I was less than 5nm from the airport I bled off the speed to 120 and locked the gear down. That was after a 60nm trip when that happened. Wife not pleased, but at least it didn't hit her upon release. I will inspect the floor block.
  12. I thought we were taking my F.
  13. Stella
  14. I bought my F before I completed my PPL. It was a post on this forum that helped me make my decision. I don't know if I should thank them or curse them, but the message was something to the effect of "if it's the plane you want, then get it and learn how to fly it." I wanted a Mooney since I began my training - all of which was in a 172. Anyhow, I found the plane I liked. It had 201 speed modifications installed, as well as a decent avionics package. The way I looked at it, I had a J with manual gear and flaps. Perfect, right? Yes. What has helped me the most is I found a fellow Mooney owner, with several hundred more hours of experience, that likes to go fly. It has been a great confidence booster to fly with another Mooney cultist (I mean enthusiast) to help better learn the Mooney. Great way to meet new friends with like eccentricities. Get an F (with manual gear). Best of luck!
  15. Just curious as to what symptoms you were experiencing. I found recently that after flying for an hour or so, it's hard for me to hear ATC. I don't have that problem when I'm talking to ground or the tower shortly after departure. I'd like to think I can remedy the problem with some contact cleaner. Thanks.
  16. I haven't taken many, but here are a couple. One is when we were about to head home. The other, when I experienced my first fill up. Ouch!
  17. My premium increased about 70% when I asked to get a premium based on being a student versus having my PPL. I have an open pilot provision that has specific qualification requirements about who may fly the plane. Fortunately, my "old" instructor has over 3,000 hours logged - about 100 in an M20, so he meets the requirements established by the insurance company. We had a great three hour ferry flight home yesterday, but I had to fly right seat! I've done all my training in a 172. I, too, looked for a place to learn in a Mooney, but couldn't find one. The examiner with whom I'm scheduled to take my checkride, works at a college in Killeen, TX. They have three M20J's in their training fleet. It's too far from where I live, however.
  18. Sure it's crazy. This afternoon, I brought home the M20F I purchased earlier this week. I don't have my license, either. I have been taking lessons for quite awhile, though, and expect to take my checkride soon (it's been rescheduled seven times due to weather). I found the plane that fit what I wanted and pulled the trigger. Just get started and have fun looking for what you want.
