  1. LOL, Parker had that 252 I wish I could have bought. I don't blame you. I have been looking at AA down in Texas. I still wouldn't feel comfortable without at least a PPI by Don down there. I have only flown a 201 once. Loved it, but it sure didn't get me checked out with just one flight. Then there is the Cherokee I have been flying.....ugh. Not a bad plane really, just not for me. I might give AA a call and see what they can do for me.
  2. I think I can tone down the trips in the winter and make only those where I am sure the weather will be acceptable. Every plane I have called on so far has been under contract. Any thoughts on how to get a plane to a Mooney authorized center for a PPI when you aren't checked out in it?
  3. I agree icing could be a problem and a consideration to either have FIKI or make a no-go decision if no-FIKI. What are my options if I want FIKI? Bravo or Ovation?
  4. I just called HEF; they said there is a list of 50 for a T-Hangar, but they have tie-downs available. Auto-pilot coupled to a GPS is one of my must haves. Coupled to the HSI is even better. I haven't seen to many Cs with autopilot like that. I have been looking at Es and Fs as well though. For the most part, it will be me and my wife and dog flying.
  5. Oh, once I get out to VA, I will be starting IFR training. I will try to get it knocked out and not drag it on.
  6. I will be living around Manassas VA, near KHEF.
  7. Hi all, I haven't been around here for quite a while. Due to not being able to fly much in the last couple years I had to go out to the local airport and do some training with my old instructor. Just got current again and have landed a new job that will facilitate the need for a nice cross-country plane. I need to be able to quickly travel from D.C. area to Indiana on holidays and most weekends, as well as heading down to FL and other places for vacations (out west maybe?). Looking at most a 150K budget, but not sure I really want to go that high. I am considering 201, 231, 252, Bravo, lower end Ovation. I am really thinking the 201 would suit me best, but I have seen a few Bravos and an Ovation or two in that range. I sort of have analysis paralysis at the moment trying to decide. I called on a few 201s that looked good, but so far no luck. I don't have any complex time and have around 100hrs total. My local CFII just sold his 201 not long ago. I missed out on that one.
  8. It says the video is private Marauder.
  9. There is a product called Motion Eaze. It is some sort of essential oils that you rub behind your ears. No drugs involved. I have used it when on the sea and other times. It always worked for me. You can get it at Walmart.
  10. One tank at a time Charlie, that's how you get there. Besides, I thought you only ate pizza! LOL
  11. The most amazing thing to me was the pilot didn't hesitate and they knew exactly what to do practically without thinking. That close to the ground and not being able to see is a dangerous situation. Good video to make you think about your personal minimums. That was way too close for my comfort for sure.
  12. Runway in sight....
  13. The difference in Parker's 252 and the Bravo or Ovation you can buy at the same price is in the condition of the airplane. Parker's 252 is said to be in top shape. To buy a Bravo or Ovation in top shape is going to cost a whole lot more than what Parker is asking. That being said, it is worth looking into those possibilities though. :\
  14. I made a joke about this same thing on another thread. It really isn't all that far fetched and it is certainly cheaper.
  15. Pres Clinton shut down an airport for hours to get a haircut. I don't think this started with Pres Obama or GW Bush. It may have worsened though after the 9/11 attacks.
  16. It costs AF1 180K an hour to fly. With that I could buy Parker's 252 and have gas money left over. BTW, that 180K doesn't include all of the other support the POTUS needs to do his thing.
  17. Now that's funny Phil!
  18. Nice vid. Thanks!
  19. That's the one! It has been a lot of years. Great to meet you......virtually anyway!
  20. I flew that 152. I was trying to find the N number for it. Could I impose? My mom flew N94527 and N95857 182s. Small world. Did you ever know Ron Carter or LiAnn Carter? I did my training I would estimate 1977 - 1979ish. The 172 was a 78 and I was flying before we bought her.
  21. Ward, It is sad news, I really like Him. I wished I had stayed in contact. But, I was one of "those" teenagers! My parents owned the TU206 N4855U and 172N N2250E. The 206 is in Spain now and the 172 is owned by the Dover AFB Aero Club. When did you instruct for him? Did you know Steve and the others? Maureen? Somewhere throughout growing up, I lost my original logbook and was wishing somehow I could reconstruct some of it. With Wayne gone now and the school being long gone too, I don't think there is much of a chance.
  22. I was just thinking of the stall thread that is going on currently on Mooney Space. Wayne used to take me out over the Great Salt Lake area and he would stall the 172 and give it full left rudder. The plane would flip over on its back and down into a spin. He would then give it full right rudder to recover. Fun times to a teenager! Notice I said "he" would do it. I stalled the plane as normal training practice, but he wouldn't let me spin it.
  23. I just scanned my log book today into a pdf using my HP printer. I cropped each page to the proper size. Granted, my log book isn't the biggest, but it worked out good. The log book I had when I was a teenager is lost and I have no idea how to recreate it. So I didn't want that to happen again.
