  1. Where are you in France Guillaume?
  2. So I have nothing to add other than a question or two. I am glad the problem was found, but I was sitting here thinking about the ramifications of the switch not making proper connections. So I was wondering two things. First, what type of corrosion is happening and why (just normal oxidation?)? Second, due to the lack of a good contact, is it affecting the charge in the battery(s)?
  3. Yes wet. But it will cost to get checked out too. I haven't flown a complex, so I would need several hours with an instructor for sure. So, it would cost $300 an hour. That's a little pricey for me right now. Other things are higher priority.
  4. It says the listing was ended by the seller and is no longer available.
  5. Just read this on the www.thegreatcircle.co.uk website: ** IMPORTANT ** EASA have now replaced the 7 PPL exams with 9 NEW Exams, this will come into effect on 1st September! Any exams completed before this date will have to be retaken in September unless ALL 7 have been completed. Obviously it would be better to sit 7 exams instead of 9, so book immediately before it is mandatory to take the 9. Spaces are limited and booking now for all 7 subjects will also save you over £300! I found an M20J 201 that is N registered in France (http://www.horizon-air.de/index-Dateien/Page553.htm) about an hour from me. It is 180 Euro an hour to rent A fellow just can't get a break!
  6. I have been flying the Bravo in FSX. I need to build a new computer that will handle FSX better and X-Plane. I can use FSX with the one I have, but it won't handle X-Plane. It's kinda like the professional mechanic who's own vehicles are neglected. I am a IT pro, but have old stuff for myself. I am on the network side of things though, not the desktop arena. Anyway, yes I would be interested in more about your setup Cloud. You have a nice arraignment that looks like it could be cost effective in the beginning and be able to add-on as you go. Thanks
  7. I will look into this. Thanks Hank!
  8. Where would a fellow get some good Mooney specific training like it was mentioned about Cirrus?
  9. I will have to study up on this further. I did not know that Dave.
  10. Thanks John. That is exactly what I was hoping to find out. I appreciate the offer for help too. I think I will go ahead and get the Class II vice the Class III. If I was in your neck of the woods, I would come see you, but I am a bit of a distance from Mass.
  11. I looked up the examination criteria, but it didn't seem any different. So, I thought I'd ask.
  12. Hi folks, I was thinking of obtaining a Class 2 medical certificate for my next physical. I haven't done this before and was wondering what the differance in the examination is. I thought I my want to do this becuase I may have an opportunity to go for a commercial ticket in the next year or two. Thoughts? And thanks!
  13. Just wondering, if it is a broken ring, couldn't that cause a lot of damage if you kept running it? I was thinking too that when the ring gaps lined up it might cause the low compression. I think I would be scared to run it until I knew the problem for sure. But then again, I am a rookie. I do know automobile engines though.
  14. Jeff, I am sure it was a simple cut and paste error. I just got a chuckle out of it, nothing personal, just a little funny. That's all. I am actually interested in those plans. I wonder how hard it would be to make that thing.
  15. I think the M20K 231 originated at Area 51 and was the secret weapon that won the war. And, that was no atom bomb that crippled Japan, that was the earlier M20J 201! I can't prove it, but there has to be something going on inside that fence! What's life if you can't laugh a little??
  16. Found this on ebay, got a chuckle out of it: Giant 1/5 Scale Mooney 231 / M20K Plans & Templates You are bidding on a new set of plans for a Giant 1/5 Scale Mooney 231 / M20K. It includes the Plans and templates/patterns for cutting the parts for this great looking and flying classic World War II fighter aircraft. Other plans are for sale too. I'll be listing them as I pull them out. This plan is in perfect condition. All of my items come from a totally smoke free environment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Giant-1-5-Scale-Mooney-231-M20K-Plans-Templates-/360651442060?pt=US_Radio_Control_Control_Line&hash=item53f880478c
  17. It's up to 121K and reserve not met yet. I wonder how high the reserve is.
  18. I have been watching some videos that relate to this sort of thing. The video says to figure out your stall speed by doing power off stalls with each flap setting, gear down, and noting the stall speeds. Times that by 1.2 or 1.3 and that is your over-the-fence or over-the-numbers speed for each particular configuration. This way you are safely above your stall speed when landing at least. I probably didn't hit this explanation square on the mark, but does this sound right? So, I suppose, an AOA might be helpful to use in conjunction with this method. Please correct me if I am off my rocker here, I certainly do not want to be doing the wrong thing. I have not been able to test this yet obviously.
  19. Haha, one more selection is necessary in the poll: o No, I don't have a friggin' plane yet to have a AOA installed
  20. I have been messing around again the last few days with FSX so this is timely for me. I tried to look at the pics too, but they are indeed no longer available through the original link. I would like to get some ideas on a fairly simple setup that could be easily upgraded. Particulars such as flight controls, computer specs, monitors etc.. would be helpful.
  21. The write up seems like they know airplanes, but sumthin' doesn't seem right. Anyone call the folks and talk to them?
  22. Wow, isn't your cowl hard to remove for quick checks and such?
  23. For what it is worth my friend, I am really in the same boat as you, that is, needing more training. I don't feel I had the confidence I should've had even though the FAA examiner signed my ticket. Now, after not being able to fly for sometime, I have substantial "rust on my ticket." When able to fly again, I will look up a competent instructor and spend plenty of time with him/her, not only to get the rust off, but to get the confidence and training I didn't have leaving the flight school I attended. That being said, I will keep fresh on the book knowledge portion, and probably even take the IRA knowledge test. Regardless, I will be with a CFII until I can get my skills at a proper level. It sounds like folks are starting to offer help to you and that is what it is all about. Leave no pilot behind! If I sounded harsh, my apologies, but it is only because I care about people, even you, though we have never met. All the best, have a superb weekend!
  24. Robert, it isn't aerobatics and unusual attitude recovery you need. No one here is doubting you can physically fly a plane. It is Risk Management/Decision Making that you are needing. I don't have a lot of hours in the air, this is true. But common sense doesn't come from lots of hours in the air. Until you figure that out, stick with a competent instructor or stay on the ground. Better you make fertilizer than become it.
  25. I am not exactly sure it was humor.
