  1. I just had mine done by King. It was expensive. They did a fantastic job of course. You might consider Southeast Aerospace. I have ah a lot of luck working with them in the past
  2. Hello, I previously owned a 1982 231. I have to tell you that for the money that someone else put into the one you are looking at, you would be getting a whole lot of desirable things in this one at a huge discount... At the end of the day it is still a 1979 model and the book value will always reflect that. The TSIO 360 is a really smooth running engine. Notice that tis one just had a top OH and that is pretty much the norm around midtime for these. Flying up high it is difficult to keep those CHTs low. It's a buyer's market out there right now.... Good luck!
  3. In this article Deakin mentions advancing the throttle to regain the power and that this will increase fuel flow to maintain mixture. Is this what you all get from this? I was under the assumption that advancing the throttle would progressively cause a leaning of the mixture....
  4. Same thing with flaps... Who needs them...
  5. Hey Brett Keep those vids coming... Here is one I recorded using the GoPro mic adapter connected to the intercom via the rear phone jack... The video may not be available yet (still processing)
  6. Give us a Pirep on the event when you get a chance...
  7. Just curious.. Do you you use an engine monitor?
  8. This is interesting. Do you run LOP? What type of power setting do you use and where in reference to peak EGT do yo lean to? If we can gather some data together and find a pattern we can make these stuck valve issues go away....
  9. LOP theory is based on chemistry; more exactly stoichiometry. It should work in any type of piston engine. After reading Mike Busch's material, I actually lean to CHT, and not EGT... As long as the CHT's are below 360 F you are good... You can do the same thing with your Rocket... Take it up to altitude and lean until you have a fuel flow that is at peak or leaner and then you can lean further until your CHT's are happy and engine still runs smooth... Then close the cowl flaps and cruise...
  10. Fuel flow is usually the offender in these cases....
  11. T34s do not have nor did they ever have wooden spars.... Not sure where that came from... The T34 may look like a tandem Bonanza but believe me it's not. Some parts/surfaces may be interchangeable but the T34 has a much more beefed up airframe....
  12. The problems associated with the inflight breakups have been remedied. There is a wing spar amoc, center station amoc, and wing station 66 amoc. Most of the fleet has had these taken care of. It is a sellers market now for these particular planes. The ones with IO520/550 conversions can fetch well north of 200K-300K depending on airframe condition. My good friend Dan Blackwell restores T34s and they have been selling quickly. The great thing about them is that they are certified aircraft and the handing characteristics are superb. They have very strong airframes compared to the other Beech models....
  13. Not true... It still is monitored by the FTC.. The contents must be listed correctly and in the proper amounts. Also, The product must be safe and do no harm. It does not have to be effective for any particular thing if it is a dietary supplement. However, if a claim is made that it is effective for a certain disease or condition it must then go under FDA regulation.
  14. Aircraft parts manufacturers in the US are under the jurisdiction of the FAA... Parts if made in China would have to be approved with the same process... I haven't seen any more than the usual number of Cirrus Aircraft falling fro the sky since the Chinese bought them...
  15. I would guess that the buyers put a lot of due diligence into the purchase and more than likely have a plan... I am going to be they know a lot more about Mooney and where they are going to take it than anyone on this forum...
  16. They got Type Certificates....
  17. The Chinese saw a bargain in MAC and they jumped on it... The Chinese are flush with cash and eager to invest in tangible assets. The dollar is devalued because of quantitative easing, so tangible assets are a way for them to have actual equity. The Mooney (no matter which metal model) a solid design, made with solid materials. The Chinese did not buy the type certificate to just sit on it. They see an opportunity. I am thinking that this is a good thing for us as owners.
  18. I'm a former T34 owner... I bought my plane on December 4th 2004 and the fleet was grounded on December 10th as a result of the dog fighting accidents. I didn't get to fly my new plane for over 6 months as a result... They no longer use T34s for this operation. The FAA is very concerned with the aging aircraft fleet and afaik they keep a pretty close watch on such activities now....
  19. Does anyone have a source with part numbers for a verticle card compass and mount for a 201? The bracket on mine is cracked and now is a good time to replace with vertical card... Thanks MM
  20. Btwmooney2201. Just poking fun. Your suggestion is well taken
  21. Ebay? Really? I might try that, but a Nigerian prince just emailed me and has one for $250. It has a 10 year warranty...
  22. Speed brakes are another great tool to have to aerodynamically control your plane. It's great to have more option and more choices.
  23. Agreed, so not such a good idea to double down with money for resale value... However, a great reason to spend money is that you use the plane and enjoy it, and that upgrades make the plane even more enjoyable.
  24. Just got off of the phone with Bob Bramble... He will OH my unit for $1950 and Line it up for another $400... I am leaning in this direction...
