  1. Hello crew, I sold my mooney about 5 years ago but my boys are getting bigger now and I am getting the bug again. I have been to Sun n Fun several times but always stayed at a hotel. Does anyone have any recommendations on camping? I am planning on driving down and roughing it and tent camping and we are only able to be there for the weekend. It is my understanding i may be far away if we just setup camp. Would it be advantageous to try and find someone who has a plane and we could camp under their wing? Would this put us closer to the fun? I would appreciate any recommendations.
  2. Hey guys, I sold the Mooney almost a year ago and I have 2 Bose headsets with the single plug left. make a solid offer and I will ship them out. I think 350-400 per headset is fair, I will cover shipping. Everyone on here has been so nice to me I would like to pass them along to someone who will enjoy them. They work perfect.
  3. I have a 79 model with tanks that after having not flown for about five month one tank has lost about 70% of its fuel and the other 20%. Last annual they changed the sending unit seals but now it smells in the cabin again. It seems like it may be leaking on the outside too. --not sure though. So now I am out of annual at my hometown airport with leaky tanks. I have the plane listed for sale but I dont know if I am really dead set on selling it. Bladders as I understand cost about 10k. I would really like to avoid spending a ton of money. The plane is only worth 37k. So is there a solution to my problems via sealant? Who does sealant well? I am in East Tennessee out of annual and have not flown for 6 months so the logistics concern me. Thanks for any advice,,,,,
  4. Guys, I have listed my plane on Barnstormers and Mooneyspace. After barely using it as of lately and getting married and working nonstop I simply don't find the enjoyment I would like to in it. Priorities change, Hope to own another Mooney again one day. Marriage is great and this sale is not via request from wife for the record hahah. Thanks for all the advice, the past year has been a blast. If you know anyone who is looking for a solid C model I believe it is an incredible aircraft and it would be delightful to find it a new home where it will get used. Aircraft is listed in sales part of site. 1976 Mooney M20C Best Regards, BC
  5. I have shown some photos before the yoke install.
  6. After a little over a year owning my plane I have decided to put it up for sale. In that time I got married and business has required my full attention. Since I have owned it it has been a joy and heas taken me from Lansing Michigan to Charleston SC. The place is based at JAU. Annual is due In July. My last annual was done by Aircraft sale a truly top notch operation in Dayton Ohio. At last annual I spared no expense with the airworthiness of the aircraft spending roughly 9 grand. The aircraft was initially purchased by embry riddle and used as a complex trainer. This resulted in quite high total time but I liked the fact that means it was inspected every hundred hours, never had an incident, and most particularly flown by some of the best pilots in the country. From there it appears some doctors and developers ownd it who poured money into a 430 then a 430 WAAS along with speed mods. The plane does not require an AD for the prop. Back in roughly 04 the aircraft had a prop strike and a brand new prop was installed. The engine received a complete major overhaul by manufacturer. All of this I was able to extract from the extensive records that have been kept. As I show in the attached picture their is extensive AD research compiled along with all logs for engine airframe and prop. I purchased the plane from a guy in Indiana who had Midwest Mooney take care of it. Before I purchased it I had midwest mooney do a prebuy on 6/25/13. Everything checked out. Last july I had Aviation Sales in Dayton ohio, plane is kept at JAU in Tennessee, do an extensive overhaul, A laundry list of items were adressed all very small things. New rubber was put on the wheels, I had new carpet installed and new yokes all made by Aero Comfort. Since then, I had a new power converter for radio 2 installed, a new mode c coder, and a new compass installed. The biggest drawbacks to the aircraft are the asthetics. I was able to put in new carpet and compass mount and yokes but the exterior paint job is rough on the white part and the seating is showing its age. I personally bought the plane for everything but asthetics knowing It was the least important part for safety. Stats on the plane as of last annual. It has been a year now so add about 100 hours to all figures: 1976 Mooney M20C Ranger Tail: N6956V ACTT:9705 Engine TSO:322 Prop total:322 Bottom line: I am asking 42,250.00. I beleive this is a pretty solid number considering the low time on engine and prop, no damage to airframe ever, no 100hr ad required on prop, 430WAAS, new interior additions, depth of records maintained. I really beleive if someone wants a Mooney of about this year model this is a great way to go. I was able to fix everything for the next guy and all the expensive stuff is taken care of. I hope to find it a new owner and wish them many years of enjoyment. I know I will always be curious where N6956v travels. This is my first airplane purchase and first sale so please let me know if I should include anything else. http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35245-new-yokes/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35244-new-carpet/

    One year of ownership

I have owned the bird now for one year. here are some photos of the journey, thanks for all the help and advice along the way.
  8. I think the publication of the tracking to the public is ridicelous. That said I like using flightaware and get a kick out of friends tracking me. The day I fill out a form to have my flights blocked because my business is so big or the general public would care is a day I genuinely look forward to, its means im doing something right.
  9. Sup guys, As I respect everyone's seniority on here I will ask another rather basic question but I would rather ask a couple dumb questions than make a mistake,,,,, I will be doing my first oil change on my own, I am using Aeroshell 100w oil but I dont know what filter to use. The last change used PN: aa48103 which looks like a Tempest. The motor is an 0-360. Question is, What filter would you guys use? Whats the best? I would like to change the oil at every 50 hours but how about length of time between changes? 6 months max I think is what everyone says right? Again, Thanks for the advice. I hope everyone who is lucky enough to be at sun and fun is having a blast and posts plenty of pictures!!
  10. Thanks guys. The handle basically disentigrated.
  11. Hey guys, I have a random part question,,,,,, So I was flying along and my plastic mixture control knob broke right off. I have the quadrant style setup so i am left with a flat piece of metal sticking out to control the mixture. The knob was round and had a simple screw that went right through the middle and the 2 sides squeezed on the metal mixture piece. Anyone know where I can get this plastic piece? I checked spruce but they dont offer it. Anyone ever had this issue? Suprised the heck outta me.
  12. Last Friday I was flying from East Tennessee (JAU) to Charleston Executive. As I approached VFR I cancelled my flight following and landed at Charleston Executive. Right after I landed a jet took off. Once on the ground my buddy picked me up and said it was Joe Gibbs the race car owner departing. After looking at Flightaware it looks like they gave my code to Gibb's jet and he headed up to VA for the race weekend. Might be off base here but I thought it was interesting to see how Flightaware didnt pickup the change in aircraft and how far the jet flew in about 50 minutes compared to how far I got in 2 hours. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N6956V Anyhow, I thought it was interesting. On a later note I had to leave the plane for weather as the muck moved in last Monday.
  13. Sounds great thank you. I did it in a Cessna during initial flight training but that is it. Fire is what this is in regards to.
  14. So drop everything then any thoughts on turn bank degree?
