BillC Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 I'll be heading to Florida from the Northeast next week. I was wondering if anyone had found a nice airport in coastal North Carolina they could recommend. Fuel, of course, is a must. Controlled airspace or not. Good food on or near the field would be a big plus. Thanks for any input. Bill 1 Quote

MKS fuel price is competitve, and they lent me a car to go for food that's not far away. I was at ISO late at night. Locked up tight, as are most airports at that hour. CRE has good services and food late, but their fuel prices are high. Enjoy the trip. Quote
DrBill Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 Wallace NC was good to me last time there. They offered to take me to the nearest eatery or go get me something to go. KACZ I'd go back anytime. BILL PS.. Check out the reports on ARINAV.COM. Quote
Hank Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Second for Wallace!! It's a regular stop for me whenever I'm down there, pilots come from Wilmington to fill up. Barnwell, SC, is also good near Savannah. Good crew car, inexpensive fuel, and a map to restaurants. Nice, cool FBO, computer, radar, etc. Quote
Bob_Belville Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 KSSI is good stop if you put a great lunch of crab cakes and a relaxing visit to a resort town above fuel price. The FBO has several courtesy cars to go to Barbara Jean's. Quote
Beskra Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 I strongly recommend my home base of Wayne Executive Jetport, KGWW. You will never meet a better group of line guys, and they will loan you a crew car for a short trip to nearby food. My recommendation would be Hwy 55 (also known around here by its old name of Andy's). 50s style diner with great burgers and cheesesteaks. The FBO is open until 8pm and they will soon be getting some self serve pumps as well. Quote
BillC Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 Wow! Thank you so much for your recommendations. Looks like there's some good choices. Thanks again everyone, Bill Quote
Jsavage3 Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 I'll back up Hank by putting in a good word for Barnwell, SC (BNL) -- cheap fuel, courtesy car, nearby restaurants & hotels and great service! Quote
Martin H Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 I enjoyed St. Augustine, Florida and also enjoyed St. Simon's Island, GA as well as Beaufort, SC. Quote
