Alan Fox Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Any reason I cant use the UMA Hall type rpm sensor on my JPI , The UMA is 100.00 , the JPI is 300.00 by looking at it it is identical , with the exception of the connector.....Dont want to hear the legal B.S. just asking if anyone has done it and if it will work....http://www.umainstruments.com/pdf/Tach_SetupT1A9-X.t4g.pdf 1 Quote
N601RX Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Its providing a pulse train to the jpi. All the commercially available halls are either NPN or PNP. Ocasionally I've saw one that has a TTL level output. Some have a internal pullup resistor, other times the pullup is in device it is hooked to. A couple of carefully crafted "troubleshooting " questions to JPI would tell you which they are using. Quote
Alan Fox Posted March 30, 2013 Author Report Posted March 30, 2013 Actually when I am at sun and fun , JPI usually sells sensors half price at the shows , I will make them an offer that they cant refuse.... Quote
bnicolette Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 I would be very interested to know also. I hate that cheap piece of crap washer they supply with the 830 and would like to upgrade to this piece. I just don't get a "warm and fuzzy" from that washer with a wire on it held in place by a plastic bolt on top of the mag. Please let me know what you find out. Awful_Charlie Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 I'm using a second Mooney part - the plug with a small vent hole in it - to drive my JPI800 - I've got the ship gauge on the left mag and the JPI on the right - works fine! Quote
