maxfly Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I have a problem with the oil temp and CHT gauges. Oil temp sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. When I turn power on, both gauge needles dive to the left. When I disconnect the senders from the gauges, they do the same thing. When I ground the sending units lead (off of the sending unit), they deflect all the way to the right. Yesterday I disconnected the sensor leads from the back of the gauges with the same results. I removed the temp bulbs and tested resistance change with a heat gun and they change resistance so I believe they are working. What shop do you recommend I send the gauges to for repair? Quote
BigTex Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I've only found one place that will service these engine clusters and it's Instrument Overhaul Service out of San Diego. Their website is www.instrumentoverhaul.com Give John Dors a call at 619.449.5565 Quote
N601RX Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Depending on how much it cost to get them overhauled it may be better to replace them with something new. EI, Areospace Logics, or Mitchell. 1 Quote
Ron McBride Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 There is supposed to be a place in Lock Haven Penn, that I have heard about. I have not needed these repairs yet, so I do not have first hand info. Lock haven instruments ?? Ron Quote
BigTex Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Cluster overhaul costs (assuming it is repairable) is around $500. Quote
fantom Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 This is THE shop to send those gauges if your checks don't fix the issues. http://www.airpartsoflockhaven.com/ Quote
