I forgot to pull the G5 data card Tuesday <_< so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow when I’m at the hangar to see what that data reveals.

UPDATE: I pulled the G5 SD card only to find that data logging has been turned off the whole time. DOH!!! It's on now so I'll be able to look at it if the problem asserts again.

I'll be taking a break from Mooneyspace and all other social media for the foreseeable future. I need less face-in-the-screen time and more butt-in-the-air and other hobby time to help me recage a bit. Peace out!

Cheers,
Junkman

A friend with a Cessna 182 is on his FIFTH set of GFC500 servos. Garmin must be losing their shirt on this one. Parts and labor for five warranty repairs.

With no guarantee that the replacements will last. A few people on the Beech forum report similar results.

Meanwhile, my 40 year old Century III autopilot soldiers on, with no special care, and I can trust it in IMC.

Yeah, after reading this, and other 'horror stories' I'm perfectly happy with my STEC-30 w/ALT and GPSS...7 YEARS and counting of trouble-fee operation.

To be fair, there are tons of issues with other AP servos, problems tracking a course or an offset, porpoising, wing rock, and lots of stuff that doesn't get reported and wouldn't be surprising.  But the GFC500 is more capable and intuitive than most other autopilots I've flown.  You hear the issues, not usually the praises.

But still, if yours is one of the problem children...it has got to be a frustrating kick in the pants!

I wonder if it is logging from a different source or is the same data that is in the G3X log file.

That really sounds like an install error.

I have not seen reports of multiple servo replacements once the latest ones were installed on BeechTalk.
