Inspection panel tape

I’m currently removing all the inspection panels on my 76 m20j so that my IA can look at all the stuff. I am pulling the panels under the rear seat and noticed that they are all taped down with duct tape. Is there a reason for this?  I don’t think I’d care to replace that when I put it back together…

Keep that cabin sealed from possible exhaust gasses entering from underneath..

Does anyone know if the back of the rear seat needs to come out for anything?  Looks like a bit of work and I am lazy. Don’t want to make unnecessary work.

You could get the expensive FAA certified aerospace duct tape. Or not.

Judging by this tape, I gather this doesn’t get inspected that often. You’d think it should be done with an annual.
