Called and left a message with Mooney. Do they offer this anymore? I have the parts. Just need the install paperwork.

Does anyone have a pdf doc?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Charles,

If you are looking to rehome your old hydraulic components after the conversion, please reach out.

Why are you unhappy with the hydraulic system.  It is a bit of a PITA to maintain if you do not have the experience and tricks as to what to do.

However, once it is installed and configured it works well.

When replacing the flap pump, open the system in the middle and refill the system from the flap pump forward.  Be sure to push enough fluid out the front reservoir overflow so there is no air in the front 1/2 of the system, including the flap pump.  You now have the flap pump and anterior part of the system filled and primed.  Reconnect the outflow hose to the flap pump.  Then open the rear of the system and push fluid from the front at the reservoir to the tail of the plane.  Close the system when the draining fluid is air free.  The system should now work, and you can then deal with the final rigging and retraction speeds.

Thanks John,
Actually I bought a parts mooney and want to convert to electric because my wife complains about reaching over and pumping the flaps when she flys. If it was just me I’d keep it hydraulic.

Speaking of converting. Does anyone have the drawings to convert hydraulic to electric? No joy on kit 940001-503 from Mooney, Lasar or Don Maxwell.
TIA,
Charlie

Hello Charlie,

Could you please share your experience if you manage to buy part for the conversion?

I get it.  That four pumps for full flaps is super tiring.  My wife also prefers flipping a switch to pumping anything.

I finally got the drawings for the hyd to electric flap conversion if anyone wants a copy, let me know. I’m in the process of converting on my F. (Not so much for me but my when my wife is PIC, she complains it’s hard for her to reach over and pump the hyd flaps)

Recognize the teflon seals you have are likely 60 years old.  I am expecting to make some soon.  I have been quite busy with some pressing deadlines.  If you would like to be put on the list for some, PM me with your request, name, address, phone and e-mail.
