Mcstealth Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 Hey there. Question guys. Does the fuel pump gear have timing marks? If it does, I cannot detect any. I told them to scribe the gears before removing, but that didn't happen. Grrrrrr. O-320 carbureted, 160hp. Engine being inspected because of a prop strike. SB/AD in hand. Quote
EricJ Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 I'd have thought so, but the overhaul manual should say. The Lycoming direct drive overhaul manual is available free online. Quote
DonMuncy Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 I have no knowledge, but I can not imagine why a water pump would need to be "synced" to anything. Quote

EricJ Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 Had to go look, since something seemed funny. Below is the diagram from the overhaul manual for "typical 4 cylinder" engines. The fuel pump gear should be marked as shown. I don't think the phase of the fuel pump cam matters, but it does look like it should be marked. 1 Quote
