I used Foothill Aviation (Curtis Cable) at CCB for my PPI and was reasonably happy (they missed a leaking prop); I didn't have any other major issues, so their PPI served its purpose.

I've used Richard at CAVU (Riverside, KRAL) for various repairs and one annual over the last six years and have been happy with him, but he is NOT a Mooney expert.

No personal experience but I think there is a shop at French Valley (F70) that has Mooney experience; sorry, but I don't have details.

I don’t know if he will travel internationally but Owen with Barefoot Aviation has been really good on several prebuys and annuals for me. He’s currently in NH and hops out of Boston if it’s flying distance instead of Dr living distance,

Thank you for the helpful response.

Curtis is the seller (or the seller's agent, anyway). And someone else recommended Aircrafters at F70, that could be who you're thinking of. I will make a couple calls. Thanks again!

You are thinking of the other Ontario, not the one in SoCal.  Unless you think Owen would fly to SoCal for a PPI.

Ah yes you’re correct.

Though he well might, I know he has done it before.

Does anyone have A&P recommendations for a PPI in the Ontario, Riverside, or even Orange County area?

Kevin Schiff at KWHP has several Mooney mid and short body customers (the planes, not the customers).  He is not a "Specialist" by some standards, but he is trustworthy, and will inspect anything you put on a list.  Search MS for good PPI lists, if you have not already.

@quietpilot

Ah, that certainly explains why you didn’t mention Foothill!

Yes, Aircrafters is who I was thinking of.

I looked at an F at Foothill for another poster a few months back, but I thought it sold. Was on the high side for what it was, IMHO.

This is for that extremely high priced F?  I’m down at KPOC.

The market might indicate otherwise but yes, that’s the one. Listed for 85k. This would be my first Mooney and my first aircraft purchase in general.

Was this the one, per chance? It’s on the high side, but everything is.

No. This one appears to be in much better condition. How much has it flown, and how often, in the last year or two? Also, why a zero time prop?

That’s the biggest red flag, it has flown 8 hours since October 2021 (21 months). Before that it had flown 40 hours a year for about 13 years. OH was done in 2007, it only has 520 SMOH, but is 4 years past the recommended TBO.
Apparently the prop is brand new because it was many years past recommended OH so the seller just replaced it.

Just double checked and this is the same one so I deleted my earlier post! I’ll PM you my comments that I sent to the last guy.

The ad says that the prop was just Overhauled. - it’s not “brand new”.  They take it off, send to propellor shop that tears it down, replaces seals, grease, reshapes/replaces blades as appropriate, paints, etc.  It will look like brand new.
