DRH4249 Posted November 18, 2022 Report Posted November 18, 2022 Have any of you had a problem finding new rods for the elevators or ailerons? It seems to take weeks to get them from Mooney,; does anyone know of a source that has them in stock? Thanks, David Quote
Igor_U Posted November 18, 2022 Report Posted November 18, 2022 If you are looking at the Rod end like M34-14, it's a Heim (an RBC bearing company) and "standard" part you buy from Spruce. There might be substitute available from Aurora bearings as well. You can remove one from Tube Assembly and replace it with the new on. Tube assy would be a Mooney p/n and available from MS. I went with former, cheaper route. Quote
Ragsf15e Posted November 18, 2022 Report Posted November 18, 2022 Some of them are welded into the tubes (gear i think?) and they are a little harder to do without involving mooney… we had a thread around here in the last year about that. The ones that are removable are standard part as suggested above. Quote
Utah20Gflyer Posted November 18, 2022 Report Posted November 18, 2022 LASAR is always a good possibility. If they have the part it usually only takes 2-3 days to get it. I believe when I got a rod end for my rudder last year it came from them and ran about 30 dollars. Quote
DRH4249 Posted November 20, 2022 Author Report Posted November 20, 2022 Thanks for the good information, now I know and can pass it along to our mechanic. Quote
Pasturepilot Posted November 24, 2022 Report Posted November 24, 2022 Some are standard, others are slightly non-standard. Wicks is another source that worked for a rod end I couldn't find at Spruce last year. 1 Quote
