carusoam Posted November 5, 2022 Report Posted November 5, 2022 Nice pirep for the Delco Remy / Zeftronics combo… Best regards, -a-
Joe Delogu Posted May 31, 2024 Report Posted May 31, 2024 Hello Moniacs, 1965 M20C, same scenario, just sent out my generator to Aerotech of Louisville for test and rebuild. They have replaced the bearings and brushes in 2014. also changed my regulator to Zeftronics G1500N. Will post update when installed and tested.
jamesm Posted June 1, 2024 Report Posted June 1, 2024 years ago when I had a generator on a '67C with the same setup Delco Remy 50A generator and Zeftronics Regulator. I was having a bit of issue with the Generator charging, Since I wasn't flying frequently back then, it wasn't too uncommon that I would have flash the generator field. One day I decided that generator had been on the airplane for a long while a thought it was probably a good time just to replace the generator. Since it probably getting close to time to replace brushes and bearings and replacing the original generator with an overhauled (reman) generator seem like a reasonable thing to do. However the overhauled generator didn't meet it was either the Zeftronic's resistance measurements specifications or Delco overhauled specifications, not sure if the Zeftronics still this information on their web or not. When I called the Generator overhaul place they claimed that there was nothing wrong with the generator and it was Zeftronics voltage regulator problem. Rather then getting caught of the finger pointing between the generator overhaul and Zeftronics requirements. I returned the overhauled generator. Since I couldn't get the the overhauled generator to work with the Zeftronics Regulator. I put back the the originator Generator and I flashed the field of the original generator along with the Zeftronics regulator worked fine. This was my experience hope this helps. James '67C 1
Joe Delogu Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 Update on 1965 Mooney M20C Charging issues. Sent in 1101915 Generator to Aerotech of Louisville for test a rebuild, send it ups ground Friday afternoon, received it back on Friday the following week. Looks brand new. Installed and tested. works great with the Zeftronics G1500N. 13.89 volts at 1500 rpm. The mechanical regulator was a fault, creating a ground from the Armature out post to regulator housing. This caused the generator to heat up. Want to thank Aerotech of Louisville for their professionalism actually charged me less than the quoted price. Also great was the tech actually called and explained the condition of the Generator. Glad they are still in business. Pirep 1 1
